There are still a lot of people talking about story relevance and how other story related games don't let you choose, so I'm gonna leave this here: In SSO, you create the main character. The name and appearance of the main character is not specified by the game, and the story changes accordingly. There are very few games out there where you can create your own character, and not choose your gender. There are games where you are forced to play as a specific pre-made character, but those can't be compared to SSO. And those are not always male, either - in Tomb Raider you have to play as Lara Croft, a female. Besides, as stated in the video, it should be possible for the 5th soul rider to be male, because according to Rhiannon, it's the soul that matters, not the gender. For that reason, I personally don't see the issue of having male characters. In fact, I think it would make quite the twist if the 5th soul rider turned out to be a boy - I mean, who would expect that? 😅 I understand that a lot of you don't want boys in the game for different reasons, and like I said in the video, I understand that it's probably not gonna happen anyway. This was just me reflecting over the different arguments and expressing my opinion on it. And also: I've seen some comments hating on the male gender and saying how they will ruin SSO by being there. Please be respectful. Boys are not some evil beings. We have them in the game already, we just can't see them.

I'm a boy and I have no problem playing as a girl. There are games where we have to play as a male character . Sso is a role-playing game about a girl. The whole plot is about a girl . My friend was tricked by another girl who, pretending to be a boy, started an affair with her. But the fact that we don't have any boys in the game doesn't change anything. People in sso pretend to be boys anyway. Even if we don't have male characters. They just wear short hair and boyish flat clothes for the character. (I know girls also wear short hair and boyish clothes but that's not what I mean now) The fact that we have no boys in the game does not change anything because people change our character into a boy, so if sso doesn't want to add guys just for to protect the girls playing this game from dating, then they could add them because sso dating already exists. So the problem is only about changing the plot, because male characters already exist in the game - our characters dressed as boys.I think it's not fair to the female gender to turn her into a boy, as if the female is worse, and it's not... And we must remember this is just a gameeee. Sorry for my english :(

In what WORLD is it ok to say NO LESBIAN would look at girls in a girls’ lockerroom, when people are NAKED?! Another thing they added was literally “the statistics say more girls are sexually assaulted than guys” What statistics? The ones where the FEW males who DARE speak up are in that pie? Cuz the MAJORITY of men DON’T SAY CRAP! It’s so incredibly taboo for men to speak up against female rapists, because “women can’t rape men, only men can rape women”. Let me give you a news flash here: Men literally have no control over their genetalia. If someone gives them stimulation, then they have no say. The penis is not technically connected to the brain nerves. You may be scared, yes, but your penis is not a part of that system. Ever heard of morning wood? Honestly, I really don't care whether or not they add in male characters. If they don't, that's cool. If they do, that's also cool. It doesn't change the story all that much. Even if they don't add in male characters, adding in selectable pronouns would be a *huge* step in the right direction, since we now have more masculine names, clothing, hair styles, etc. We can make our character as masculine, feminine or androgynous as we please - adding in selectable pronouns would be the final step.
@nightlypumpkins95954 жыл бұрын
Yes but the issue there is that it’s so many pronouns :/ This comes form a agendered person who use they/then adding in all those pronouns would take forever as it is way to many pronouns to actually add. Maybe they could go simple she/her, they/them and then he/him but they’d probs get complaints about that.
@Aimee02064 жыл бұрын
@@nightlypumpkins9595 That last part is what I meant - there's way too many pronouns for them to add in them all, so it'd be easier for them to go with the most well-known ones (she/her, he/him, and they/them). You can't really go wrong with that, since that would then cover binary and non-binary genders. (As a quick note, I know that some non-binary people use neopronouns, however, they/them is also used if you don't know a person's gender or pronouns, so if we go by the idea that the NPC's don't know our character's pronouns, then it'd work).

I don’t think sso should add male characters, as that would kind of mess up the storyline/point of the game. Plus, what about non-binary people? It’s 2020, and if you’re adding new genders, you need to be open minded. However, there is so much more than just the quests in sso, and I definitely think they should add more shorter hairstyles and typically “masculine” clothing. That way, male players can feel like themselves while playing, and I doubt they would be too bothered if the quests/dialogue still refer to them as female.
@dindymay40014 жыл бұрын
( My Opinion ) I think that's a good idea, instead of adding boys just add more masculine clothes and hair styles so, as you said, they could feel more like them selves. I also think it would be a lot less work to do that- also if there were male characters they would have to redo every- single- animation- for them on the horses and dances and all that stuff sooo yeaah. also there and tons of games where you can only choose to be a male character and I don't hear this many people saying "you should add girls" boys have their games and girls have theirs, and we can all share the games its just the developers don't have to change the whole story/plot just because of genders it honestly annoys me

The only problem with that is I would say making the clothing model fit a more masculine body type too, I.E. jeans that don't show off curvy hips, shirts that don't accentuate the chest. That's fairly easy, they'd just have to work on the models not looking strange. Other than that, adding different makeup options to make the jaw look more square, lower cheekbones, etc would be great. They don't have to add a whole new gender, they just have to add more masculine clothing and such.

As a female player- The only valid argument against imo is the amount of time that would be spent to materialise this update. I believe plot-wise, it is very feasible to allow male characters to be included in the game’s narrative, and a few typos early on by the SSO team could be easily forgiven by players. It is a quasi-“empowerment” game for girls, but female empowerment doesn’t mean an “all-girls world”, nor does it necessarily mean empowerment in spite of males; but instead female empowerment in harmony with the completely opposite gender. I think most of the male players on this game are very accepting of the fact there are only girl playable characters, but I can only imagine if I were a boy and wanted to play this game I would want to play as a male. It’s a definite yes from me😌

I personally think there should be an option to play as a male character. The reason why I think like this is, that even though SSO has said that this games story "just has a girl as the main character, like Tomb Raider for example" I don't think that SSO can be compared with a game like that. You see, in Tomb Raider you play as _Lara Croft_ but in SSO you just play as "you". That's why I think there should be more ways to customize our characters, because your character represents you.

As a transgender male, playing as a male character would definitely make me feel a lot better about playing the game in general. Sso has been one of my favorite games since at least 3 years ago, and while the storyline is great, being called a “she” or a “her” can really get to my head. It’s one of the reasons why I really don’t enjoy playing sso anymore. The arguments about people dating is, excuse my language, BULLSHIT. People are still going to date no matter what you do, might as well make male characters to make the guys feel more included. The boys that are already playing sso, such as myself, have already been in the community. What the hell are we going to change if we get male characters?? Which is exactly my point. Following up with the concord and the “sisterhood” theory, if there can be a mare in the “brotherhood”, who says we can’t have a male in the “sisterhood”? All the talk about sso being LGBTQ+ friendly is completely bs. If they were, they would allow you to say gay, lesbian, bisexual, etc and would even let you play as a male if you’re transgender. I don’t see why the hell we can’t have male characters?? Going back to trans males and the transgender community itself in this game, I have met at least 30 or more players who are actually transgender. Think about that. Imagine being trapped in the opposite sex body, then wanting to play a game to get away from that, and still having to be trapped in that female body. It isn’t right. It’s not equality for all, it’s fucking 2020 for gods sake! SSO needs to get their heads out of their asses, stop talking bs about equality, and step up to home plate and hit that home run with male characters. Imagine not being able to wear a shirt that you really like because it has boobs and that makes you uncomfortable! Like, the hell? Yeah, hoodies don’t show it as much but that’s a limited type of shirt that you can wear if you’re a guy. Y’all catch my drift? So yes, in my opinion, I do believe there should be male characters. **SIDE NOTE** If sso keeps going down this path, the community will continue to grow more and more toxic. They’ll lose more and more players to other (better and more equal) games like Alicia Online, where you can actually play as the opposite sex. They need to get it through their heads that people aren’t going to put up with this forever, and until guy players come out in the game, a huge part of the community will be lost slowly but surely.

Hey! Sso does support the community as their is literally a lgbtq pin in lisas room. There not doing this because they aren’t supportive its because COPPA. COPPA is a everything ruiner and if sso doesn’t comply with the rules there game could be taken down. When you say bisexual people in game have more ways to say “sex” which would make the dating situation worse. Also i dont think you understand how much programing and rewriting it would take for sso to add males. They would have to make an entire new wardrobe of clothing re animate everything rewrite dialogue. Its not just about being lgbt its also about how much work it would take. I think we should get male characters. I know quite a few guys who play SSO, and they'd love being able to have their character be a guy. It might confuse the storyline, but since you play the storyline on your own, it wouldn't matter wether someone was playing it as a guy ; it wouldn't affect your storyline experience. Obviously it would be a lot of work to change the pronouns and dialogue, but it still would be possible and not the most difficult thing. And a lot of people play SSO for the social element of it, not just the storyline. I don't think it would entirely take away the female empowerment either, and it could make young boys feel included in things they like but aren't sure they're allowed. But I think it's fine if SSO doesn't add male characters tbh.

When a game only has male characters and girls have to play as a man, its not a huge deal. But when boys have to play a female character, theres this huge discussion. I dont think we need male characters because the whole idea behind sso is a game about a special girl,to empower girls. I think they should add a body type option, for example a more masculine type, a bigger body type etc.Also some more short hair styles and gender neutral clothes.Sorry for my english btw c:

It's rather sad that we have to have this discussion But I most certainly understand why people don't think of boys being welcomed in girl stuff Boys like to make fun of such stuff after all, at least here in Germany, many male classmates of mine talked about eating horses always to the ones of us in the class liking horses, which were actually only two girls

I because of that would like there to be like no change in the quests and story line but for the boys to be able to show themselves more. Like a gender icon, more boyish clothes, more hair that boys would use I mean SSO has male workers so they can get help of those as well Plus it wouldn't just be good for the boys but also for tomboys

I think the whole "other games won't let you play as a girl" argument is not bad but it makes sense in a single player game. Almost every mmorpg game lets you choose your gender so it represents you in some way. In my opinion SSO should do the same. I hope when they update the character model they'll include at least a bit more masculine body type and more short hair options to choose from.
@CitiesInDust-SATB4 жыл бұрын
also people saying that "it would take a lot of work to create male characters" yes it would, but they are already working on updating the characters which takes a lot of, yeah, work. theyve also said that they want to make different body type options to choose from, even flat chests. And yes, they would have to change the dialogue in many quests too, but theyve already changed the dialogue many times in different quests
@CitiesInDust-SATB4 жыл бұрын
I see a LOT of people comparing SSO to read dead redemption 2 and like... the thing with rdr2 is that you play as a set character, Arthur Morgan, who you can’t customize beyond clothing choices. You are controlling Arthur and not a character thats supposed to represent you, the player, as in SSO. However, in Read dead online, the multiplayer version of rdr2, there is a character creator and you can choose to play as either male and female. Its basically the same in many other games with only one gender option, you are playing as a set character.

What if male characters had special story quests and instead of becoming reborn of Aideen, they could become druids like Avalon. Only those about girls would change like Catrines' memories.

From my experience, a lot of boys willingly pick the female avatar despite there being a male character option. I don't think we really *need* a male character, especially if the story doesn't want to fit in a way for guys to be a soul rider, too. Even if they did, I don't know if I'd expect SSO to go through all the dialogue to change it according to pronouns. There's a lot of dialogue that'd have to be read through, fixed, then double checked which sounds like a waste of time. If we were to get a male character, those players will most likely have to deal with typos and whatnot.
@helawlodar90704 жыл бұрын
I think that adding a whole new gender to the game and changing all the dialogues to fit in with the pronouns and context seems to be a lot of work, not exactly worth it, since the boys might be less than 10% of overall players, but I think that they should add more gender neutral clothing, hairstyles and character names ( they already exist but it would be nice to have more of them)

As a girl I think it would be great to have male characters. I don't care about the dialogues as it's already extremely bad ( french player here and sometimes you wonder if they use google translate or Reverso instead of someone paid for that ) and as we don't have that much interesting lines. I never liked when it's limited to a gender, whether it's for males only or females only and here it's a total lack of liberty and choices, which is really bad in a MMORPG. Concorde proved us that reincarnation and soul didn't care about gender, so, even if we are the reincarnation of an important character, our gender shouldn't be a problem. I mostly see that as a lazy way to have less items to create, less dialogues to write. I know that they won't change ( eh, more work... ) but it's getting more and more annoying and uneasy to only saw girls on the game. Especially as it reinforces the idea that a game about horses is only for little girls.

It’s a “nay” for me. I feel like boys would mess around, and I feel like it’s special to us girls. Boys have so many games that mostly boys play! It would also be hard making a whole new quest dialog for JUST a new gender. And yes, boys do act different from girls. Sometimes us girls just need something for ourselves. One, we can talk about “certain” things, and it won’t be as weird as it would be if you talked about it with a boy. Edit: I’m not saying only girls can play, and I’m sure it would be kinda fun. Boys should be treated equally as girls, and girls should be treated equally as boys. Boys can be very funny and kind, but I feel like some boys will just join the game to make fun of us girls. Hey there, I just wanted to say that I also think StarStable should add male characters. I mean it's a really nice idea that the game wants to show us, that female also is a very strong gender, but I think with that being said boys will feel like I'm a boy and I'm not allowed to ride horses, because I'm just a boy, which is wrong. I am also a boy and I play StarStable, yes! So, once I was playing SSO my brother invited a friend to play with him and his friend came into my room and saw me playing StarStable. He literally was laughing at me, so please. StarStable, SHOW US THAT BOYS CAN ALSO PLAY GAMES LIKE THIS. I mean it would be a lot of work to add male characters, but I really think it's worth it. Many players want to get the male characters, so I really hope they will add them and hopefully they can contribute, that boys can also go riding, dancing or something else. It's not just made for girls! But also the same thing in other games, where you can only play male characters.. :(
@agoldendahlia32614 жыл бұрын
I think SSO will never add male characters since this game is about girl power and such. Plus it would take tons of time! They would have to make a new model, make all the clothes fit the new model, make sure all the animations fit the model, and more. Their already in the progress of updating our characters so I doubt if they will make them it won't be soon. And like Elaenor said, this game is about a sisterhood and it wouldn't make sense. And a lot of people have the argument that "well James Charles created a sisterhood". That was more of just a saying and like his catchphrase type thing. Another argument is "Romance happens either way", yes it does happen as right now but adding male characters would only worsen it because that would most likely cause more boys to join meaning more possible people for thirsty girls to come after. SSO themselves has confirmed that male characters will never be added to the game so I feel like this argument/discussion should stop. This game is about empowering girls and adding boys would kinda ruin it. And if boys do really want to play the game and enjoy it they can still play, and that makes the community better because it's the boys who enjoy the game the most that will play.

I see this differently from games like gta or persona 5 where you play as a character, an existing person (in game). But this game I see more as Skyrim. You make your character, you name them after you, make them look like you, and dress how you want. The whole problem can be fixed by making things gender neutral. Take animal crossing for example. You can wear whatever, it doesn’t chose pronouns for you, and even the “gender” is just icons not male/female. When they update the characters they can add options like chest size and body shape, even just new hair and faces. As far as story, it could be a thing where they add a plot point like “this is the first male member!” Or something. Empowering girls is good, but leaving out people in the process is exactly what other games like shooting games do to girls. It wont hurt anyone to simply have a more masculine character model. Hell! They could make it all girls still, but just add a masculine model to the game when they update characters, what about the trans girls and boys? Or just girls who don’t want to look feminine? Either way, the only people were hurting by refusing to add masculine models are our own players.
@aidenschwarck5064 жыл бұрын
I don’t mind SSO not adding any male characters, however, here are some of my thoughts on it (good or bad): The whole programming would have to be redone, and it’d be a whole reboot of SSO. It’d take too long, maybe even more than two years. My issue is that I don’t see ONE horse game where there is a male character (other than alicia, but it’s more a racing game than an actual horse game). SSO could earn a ton of money on adding males, but again, I understand the issue with the game being meant for girls. I’m transgender (female to male), and for YEARS I’ve tried to push away my past (my past self, who lived as female). The fact that horses and horse games are so taboo for males, doesn’t make this any better. Multiple times I’ve been told what to do and what games to play to seem more “masculine”, and it hurts. I love horses dearly, and I’d love to have my own horse, but I don’t even feel comfortable telling people I play SSO because everyone would think I wasn’t a “true” transgender person, and just someone who’s doing it for clout, which I’m not. In general, SSO is extremely feminine. It really hurts to see that most girls aren’t represented. I have a ton of friends who have short hair (girls and boys), and yet SSO only has 2 hairstyles that’s shorter than a bob. Even so, these hairstyles haven’t been updated in FOREVER. I literally never take off the helmet in game because the hair looks absolutely HORRIFYING! I wish SSO would add more LGBT items. They do it once a year I believe, and then they remove it again. I’d love to have more of a variety of clothes and accessories. Body types would be absolutely amazing as well! We just have this skinny girl with slim shoulders. I’d love to see some diversity in the riders. I understand this game is meant for girls, it’s completely fair. It’s true that most games revolve around guys (though, that’s actually not the case anymore), but I haven’t seen a single horse game that sheds light on guys also riding. Riding horses has become such a taboo, even though in the early days, women were actually not allowed to RIDE horses, only men were. Now, the sport has changed and most riders are female, and the male riders like to keep hidden. It pains me to see this, and I wish SSO would add some more diversity, if not make a male avatar. Adding more gender neutral clothes (I struggle to find something that looks “masculine” on me) and more short hair that’s actually been deeply thought about. These were just my thoughts on it. Again, I understand it’s a girls game, but it’d be nice if in the future SSO would rethink the “no guys allowed” ordeal :)

Good job SSE for killing off potencial audience that early! You guys in the comments sound sexist too! Here's some debunking for the not adding guys opinion: 1. But there are games that have only male characters! - Well, that's because they are sigle player games ( red dead redemption, GTA series etc.) where you have an already existing character with their own personality. MMO games allways had a choice of gender. 2. It would break the storyline! - That's the only good argument that I have seen there. But here's the thing. Would it kill them at this point? They changed most of beloved characters already, so it is not that of a problem at this point. Sure, it is about sisterhood and there is the prophecy. The change would make for a more interesting and fun story. And of course, Justin and Concorde exist. 3. the dating problem. I can agree on this one too, but the problem already existed before. and there are buttons like ignore and report (or is it? theyy could add one). I would be more careful about usign this one argument. It mostly sounded really simmilar to the all men are... you know.. 4. It will be difficult and it will took so much time! - I mean others can do that, so why not SSE? They already started changing dialogue to they/them, so what's the problem? the models? just use some that are NPCs as a base. This is a lazy argument. I don't care that much about adding males. But I'm a girl who likes to play as a male, so it makes me sad that my first mmo is that backwarded. I wrote this, becouse the arguments againts this are stupid. Male characters could make this game more alive and fun for at least a little while.

I think a good option is for them to only add pronoun customization options! That's a lot less work than making a whole new male character model, and it still fits with the lore if a girl has he/him or they/them pronouns. I think that they could just add that you can change your bodytype, like a female can look like a boy in her body. Like trans or that she just doesn't look that way. And they could add a face with no makeup and add like shorter styles of hair. But the character could still be female, but boys paying the game would feel more comfterble.

I’m a trans guy that plays the game, and it’s honestly kind of mentally damaging that I’m being forced to play as a girl. It’s like everything I’ve done to try and prove that I’m Male has been thrown away because ‘only girls can play horse games’. Inclusivity needs to become the norm. If they can add male characters, even if just for the niche amount of males that play the game, then they should be in the game.

Idrk if we should have male characters. I've only been playing for like 6-7 months so I'm not rlly sure whether we should have it but I think what they should do is make it so you can customise ur character so it can look more like a boy ( e.g. more ' boy ' hairs, normal jeans, etc..). I don't really have much more to say but I have some more stuff to say about the fridge doors ( yes I'm still thinking about it ) : 1. When you stay near it for a while, u can hear sounds like screaming and rails. 2. They are quite hidden so that would mean they don't want ppl seeing them so there is definitely something dodgy happening down there. ( Sorry I know this isn't really about the video but I just had to mention it ) Let me know what you think :D

I agree. Many AAA games (RDR2, God of War, etc.) only have male protagonists and nobody complains about it. Same thing for other games where the protagonist is only female (Horizon : Zero Dawn, TLOU2, etc.). If girls can play as a guy in RDR2, why couldn't guys play as a girl in Star Stable ?

@@artemiss4432 the thing with rdr2 is that you play as a set character, Arthur Morgan, who you can’t customize beyond clothing choices. My theory is, that when they do give our characters the long awaited update, they might give us options to customize our characters a bit more. For example, being able to choose from 5-8 different looking lips, eyes, nose, body type, etc. all separately. And with that, possibly some more "gender neutral" options, so you could make your character look a *little* more masculine. Just a theory, but I think that is how sso should, and might, resolve this issue in the community. ^.^

I've heard a few solutions at least for the avatar side of it is to make it more of an androgynous look. I've also heard some suggest making a 2nd storyline where the male character would be more fitting. I think... depending on how they make our updated characters look (which may not be for another year or two because of what all is involved with the character) players could make a body type that leans more towards a male build but maybe still androgynous?

Nay, I'm a boy myself and the the girl MC just makes sense and more fitting for the main story, for example one of the story quests where we talked to Catherine: she somewhat referred to us as the "Goddess reborn" Which is honestly in my opinion is more interesting knowing there's a possibility that our MC is this all powerful saint/goddess who's the Guardian/protector of the world considering how much she's done for the people of jorvik (as dramatic as that sounds, it's still interesting XD)

I would not like male characters but let me explain. Star Stable already has the hedgehog/ the "male" hair and names like "Max" or "Hunter". I have seen KZbinrs like Denise Wisestorm and Max Kingmoon and they have no problem with playing as a female. If they would change the pronouns to something like he/ him or even them/ they. If we could be able to change our pronouns for like maybe 1,000 shillings then the story quests will have correct pronouns to the player. I get that this might take LOTS of programming but Star Stable has said that "everyone can play even if they are male". I feel like male characters do not need to be added because of the amount of stuff Star Stable has put out for them. Think about it. If male characters were added more and more people would do romance roles/ "rex roles". This is out of the topic of male characters but like if we could choose a gender for our horses so the quests would say like "Do you think that he can handle that" or something like that. I would say that male characters are a no for me.

I mean, as a trans male I would like to be able to play as a male, but the arguments against are very reasonable reasons to not have any male characters
@MissFluffyPink4 жыл бұрын
Personally I feel that one of the strongest arguments against male characters is the story line. While we have gotten it explained that the horses can be reborn with different genders no such coment has been made about the sisterhood of soulriders. So you can't really compare the two. Another reason why the soulriders can not be compared to the horses are that the horses have never been refered to as a brotherhood or similar. Also our horses are the same soul reborn over and over. However our character are just girls with a certain skillset and a connection to Aideen, not souls reborn. This is clearly shown as previous (such as Elizabeth Sunbeam & Eva von Blyssen) were alive when the current soulriders were born and when their/our powers awakened. We also know that Aideen is female, so maybe females are closer to Aideen and that is why soulriders need to be girls in order to be close enough to Aideen to use the soulrider powers? As for the darkriders they are even less valid for the argument about whether or not there could be a male soulrider. Because we have at least one male darkrider already, Drako, and they wanted to recruit Justin. Furthermore we have never gotten it confirmed that darkriders has to be a specific gender or how many there can be at any given time. For all we know Mr Sands could try to recruit any person who has the right skillset rather than being reborn as our horses. So unlike soulriders where only 4 exist at the time there might not be a limit to how many darkriders there can be at any one time. I do think it is unfortunate that some people feel uncomfortable as female characters but with the new customisation for the new characters it should be even easier to make your character look like a boy. Besides, there are so many games where there is no other option but to play as a male character. Yet I never see this debate in other games... I don't see the issue with having one (or a few) games where you can only play as a girl? By that logic you should also be upset that we haven't gotten to choose the gender/sex of our horses (especially the starter horse), SSO decided it was a male and that's that. If SSO adds male characters to be inclusive it would only make sense to be inclusive of ALL genders, not just the two biological sexes? So if you add boys it would be to truly discriminate against people who, for example, are genderfluid or non binary. With that in mind I personally would much rarther see the genders that tend to be discriminated against included in the game. To hopefully give them a platform where they can be accepted and safe. Not that boys don't deserve that but to be fair... Boys have lots of platforms for that already so just this time... Maybe we could instead work on the stigma and shame boys seem to feel over playing as a female character? Starting with; why do so many boys feel so uncomfortable with that? Is it because they are ashamed and why are they ashamed? If it is due to what others will say, that sounds like a selfesteem issue more than anything or maybe you need to educate the people around you to be more open minded? Because personally (as a girl) I play several games with a male character and have no issues with that. I would also prefer to see the work that would go into creating male characters (character design, changing quest names and dialogue, adding names, clothes, face up, hairstyles etc) to be put to use in different parts of the game. Such as updating the NPCs in game. Justin Moorland and Mr Sands are in desperate need for it considering they are such large parts in the games story. The last issue I can think of shouldn't really be an issue however all too often it is a big problem as far as being inclusive goes... And that is clothes and hairstyles. More often than not in games where you have male and female characters you are stuck with a specific set of hairstyles, make up, clothes/armour and sometimes even weapons based on what gender you choose and that kind of discrimination drives me MAD. Why is it that as a girl can't wear so many of the cool clothes? And why as a male character can you not have long hair or dresses? Why is there a male and female version of the same suit of armor where the female version is a bikini top and a lioncloth and the male version is this awesome looking knight in shining armour style? I dread something like that happening in SSO. So without meaning to offend or hurt anyone I personally hope that SSO keeps it to female characters only. But that is just my opinion and you are of course allowed to have your own.

The way I see it is that we have played games for ages in which we assume the role of a male protagonist (a recent example is Red Dead Redemption 2 in which we play Arthur Morgan and John Marston). It's nice to have a game where the main protagonist is female. The entire plot revolves around the fact that the main character is a girl, and it would reshape the lore that The Starshine Legacy/Star Stable has been based around since the early 2000s. It would not only go against the lore but would be very hard to correct in the game's quest dialogue since we've been called "she" for almost a decade. Star Stable does give boys or those who wish to be androgynous options to make their characters look more masculine or androgynous by providing shorter hairstyles and a variety of clothes that could be for anyone. My guess is when they update our characters, they'll provide plenty of body types and hairstyles that make this even easier. It's not that they aren't being inclusive, it's just that Star Stable is set in a world where a girl is the star of the show. And that's okay.
