When my boys were young I belonged to a sailing club whose members did all the hard physical labour of building and maintaining the docks and infrastructure...I took my boys to all the club work parties and was amazed to see how skilled men took young boys under their wing and showed them how to build and make things....Men are actually very good nurturers and my boys blossomed when they received the respect and instruction of handy men. When they worked like men with the men, the guys would let them eat lunch with them and treated them like colleagues (including an occasional beer as reward) Both eventually became engineers and wonderful teachers in their own right.

As a guy raised by a singe mother and a heavily feminized education system I can summarize my experience with something Christina Hoff Summers once wrote: 'boys are raised as defective girls'. This was exactly my upbringing an it ruined me. Any masculine expressions was immediatly punished while behaving like a girl was rewarded. Combined with no male authority figures and role models I ended up a aimless man with zero ambitions. Then they wonder 'where all the real men have gone'. Excuse me if I dont care. But at least I wasnt raised during this LGBT grooming era so thats an upside I suppose.

I had a few males in my life, I wouldn't call them role models. My mother remarried three times before I was 21. All verbally abusive addict types. Home was never a serene environment, but constant yelling and screaming with the occasional broken furniture or smashed walls. My role models were philosophers.

I'm a big fan of boys only schools. Our son followed our daughter through in a co-ed private high school and we could notice a difference in approach and support. Boys were made to feel as if there was something wrong with them. We put him into a boys only school for year 11 and 12 and the change was significant and welcomed. The results spoke for themselves.

Textbooks and educators have for decades fought against boys. I worked in textbook publishing, and in textbooks, no boy ever won a foot race or got the answer to the math problem right -- it was always the girls. And schools began cancelling recess because it "favored boys." Feminist groups were pretty open about this not just being about encouraging girls but about destroying boys. And if boys aren't burning off energy during recess, just give them ritalin. There has been an real war against males.

It goes further... I taught in London and I wanted to help some struggling students who had potential. They were a mix, i didn't care about identity, just the human that is the student. My headteacher told me that I couldn't get support to help the group, she explained when pushed because this made no sense to me, that there was funding for say 'black boys', it was all identity, not need based. I think this was perhaps 2006/7... No wonder we have seen some gaps grow like this, they slipped through the Intersectional Identity Politics Net.

The women’s movement was not about equality, but preference. I avoided saying domination. For the best outcome both sides have to reach the end point together. You only have to look at sport and commercials on free to air tv and almost anything. Who would want to be a male? The women’s movement have denigrated women. The mantra is “ to succeed you have to do what men do”. Just look at sport. Women have and will always be part of a strong society, but they should have their freedom and not have to see it as “do what men do”.

As a transit driver I got to know several boys who were regular passengers...they were all being raised by single moms with no men in their lives. They didn't get the most basic instruction in anything masculine...which end of a hammer to use, what to check when your car won't start, etc. One boy really struggled in school and had few friends and I felt bad for him. With my encouragement and the reinforcement he got from other transit drivers he befriended he went on eventually to become a police officer; another eventually became a trolley operator like me. It is sad how little confidence these boys have and how able they really are when supported.

So ....that didn't help much then. Why not inspire them to be lawyers, scientists, maths professors & really feel good about their earning potential & social status. See,.... a man will teach you how to swing a hammer, build cabinets, fix cars, shoot guns..... None of those things are prized in society, so those skills don't pay well. A mother will say, "sit behind this desk, dear, & develop your brain, do your maths homework. Which career are you interested in? Let's organise some time with a professional so's you can experience what your work life will be like, before you qualify & realise you hate the job... " Moms are supremely practical parents. They don't want to raise 'Mini Me" like Dad's do. They don't want to rough & tumble with their sons till their noses bleed & the lump on their forehead turns a vivid purple, precipitating a discussion with the nursing sister about concussion. They understand that jobs where you get physical & get your hands dirty are ... .well... underpaid awful jobs. As vital as those jobs may be to us all, would you encourage your child to be the person who cleans out the sewers? Moms want happiness & fulfillment for their adult children. Moms value success & status. But they value individuality more. They want their boys to have a lovely home, lovely family, live in a safe neighbourhood, be proud of their efforts and be happy. So.....do your maths homework. Come inside & get your project finished. Is that suppressing a son's ball skills, cycling ability, ability to pummel anyone who messes with him? Yes....., Probably. Frankly, I don't see the problem. If he gets his lovely house, family, safe neighbourhood & happiness.

Soon enough - maybe in their lifetime an economic degree or lawyer will not mean too much, because a malaise is coming your way. A truck driver will protect his family much better then a pr manager of some sorts. These boys lacked any inspiration at all, what they got might soon be a thing that will save their life and property.

This is the result of the wholesale adoption on neo-Marxist ideology, including feminism and gender ideology, by the teaching profession. Yes! Neo-Marxism is to blame! That super pervasive, widely adopted, rigidly enforced ideological framework of indoctrination that you can absolutely give a clear definition and show examples of. I doubt John and co. have ever questioned why the existing (capitalist) system is so broken that taking you're eyes off one group to focus on another for a minute allows them to fall behind. I dread to think how they'd react to more focus and resources being allocated to indigenous and minority students. "They're achieving positive outcomes and it's ruining the outcomes of white children!" They need to atop hand wringing about what's happening at the bottom of the cliff and think about how the system permitted them to fall down there in the first place. (Hint: it's got NOTHING to do with Marxism!)

This has been going on in the UK for decades, and it's so easy to work out why. If loads of young men go to uni, who's gonna do all the construction work? The driving jobs? Warehousing, manufacturing & other unskilled work? Nobody wants to solve the problem because there is no problem. Not in the eyes of those in a position to change it anyway. Nope. The problems will begin when the women don't start lining up for unskilled, heavy, dirty manual work. Sure, they'll be some. But let's be honest here. Woman as a whole don't want these jobs. Just spreading facts, so don't shoot the messenger

I've heard this debate so often. But it has one fundamental flaw.....? If women don't want the heavy duty, dirty, unrewarding jobs for a low pay, why do their male counterparts do them? If you were bright & hard working at school you would not be 'targeting' to be a bricklayer..... Girls are not so dumb as to not notice they will really hate such a job. So no brainer, they want an inside, desk job. So, if you want that, & want to be paid well, set your sights on a career. Girls do that from a minimum of first year high school. So, why don't boys? Is it all that Dad-Son rambunctiousness, or is it boys are supremely & catastrophically inattentive to reality?

That’s exactly what they’ve done. As a boy in an English 60’s school, our teachers were mainly male - ex-military with a female art teacher and home economics. On arriving in Australia (70’s), a majority of my teachers again were male - ex-military (Korea, Vietnam…etc), with more females - English, Art, Typing ….etc. When I graduated as a teacher in 1978, 30% of graduates were male. Now you are lucky if it’s 15% male. Not saying that male teachers are better than females - far from it, but it is a significant factor. Furthermore a majority of principals in schools are now females. The female tone is permeating. There is a lack of male roll model. We need to emulate the ‘tribal’ approach whereby young males are lead, instructed, directed, up-skilled, supported and held accountable by elder males, where expectations of respect, rigour, self-conduct and growth are demanded - not all this aural WOKE massage, mitigating circumstances and action with impunity. Too much bureaucracy, ‘misguided do-gooders’, external interruption, frequent change…
@lornalong6468
@lornalong6468 Жыл бұрын
It's not female teachers' fault the education system is losing male counterparts. Men are breadwinners, typically. You can't freeze salary increases for years on end & pay significantly lower than other careers without losing the men. Pay teachers well. They deserve it. When the salaries are at an appropriate level to entice men, you will see more men.

If a boy aged 13 can't sit & read a book for 30 minutes, that is an extremely poor prognosis for that boy. For any student. If you are saying this under development of boys is a norm - that is not my experience. If such a student is ignored & not supported, is that OK? I would say, no. If the solution is medication & you are anti the ADH trend & medicating children.....you'd better consider if you are aiding that child by denying that aid or if you have a good, bankable alternative. My ex husband refused to give his son, via his girlfriend, any treatment for ADHD. The boy's school life was a complete mess because he insisted on blaming the teachers. All of them. He finally home schooled his son himself.... what a joke. Now the lad is 18, in first year varsity, doing a stop gap maths course to be able to stay at varsity and having never cracked maths through 13 years of school... The likely prognosis is that this lad can do absolutely nothing decently paying with his life. On the other hand both my daughters are ADD. I followed the advice of the best professionals I could find & both now are qualified professionals & earning well for themselves. I had parents coming at me & tongue lashing me for 'drugging' my daughters. Well, needless to say, some of those parents landed up with their children's young lives in tatters & their children too old for therapy & interventions to be of any benefit to them whatsoever.

My mother had me diagnosed with ASD at 8. My mother is an entrepreneur. She and my father divorced when I was 10. Essentially, they had conflicting values. Mum wanted to own her own business and be an independent strong woman. And she wanted Dad to be a stay at home Dad while somehow still bringing in more money than she was. It was an outrageous, controlling double standard which led to their divorce. Whenever it's brought up what happened, my father will say, "We had a good run. It didn't work out. I tried. And it's okay." And my mother will say, "YOUR FATHER #$%^ING DESTROYED THIS FAMILY!" And just from those interactions alone, it's easy what happened. Needless to say, I don't have the best relationship with my mother. Jump ahead 30 years later, studying my Masters in Education, I was temporarily expelled for asking basic questions. Women were openly hostile, antagonistic and the culture was appalling. We sued and EASILY won. I earned my Degree and was reimbursed the cost of the student fees. A year later, the Executive Dean was forced to resign for creating a culture of bullying and intimidation. She was, again, a woman. In Education, every second child had a diagnosis of... something... and it became blatantly obvious that men were being restricted from the profession, and needed more male models. Women didn't know how to handle the boys, and whenever they spoke out of line, a little while later they'd magically end up with an Autism or ADHD diagnosis. Both the university, and my mother, shared an eerily similar philosophy towards boys and men. I understand they don't necessarily represent EVERY woman (I should know --- I got engaged recently), and I can see where they are coming from. Not all men are that great either. But it's insane now, and it's going way too far.

My brother has the depressing memories of being caned daily at school multiple times a day. That was not because he was a naughty, disruptive pupil but because any infraction from 1 student resulted in the entire class being caned. Much like in a military boot camp. He was not okay at being educated in such a male-punitive system. It's negatively impacted his self-confidence for life like no female teacher would have.

@@lornalong6468 So sorry for your brother, though if he didn't go through such things i would be even more sorry for him. If you completely remove adversity with draconian punishements you'll create incapable people without any mechanism to cope with violence and fear later in life. Eliminating competition is going to make the whole society unable to function in the real world.

Is it entirely their fault though? Over the past 50 years the west has had two major enemies, Soviet Russia and Communist China, both of who's military doctrine state infiltration and subversion of culture as a weapon. Yuri Besmenov spoke about this famously with his lecture on 'Active Measures' by the soviets. But he also said you can't subvert a country that doesn't want to be. So in some sense, it's fault of the past generations for having cultural vulnerabilities, but too assume that we, as the youth, would have done better against such forces is a mistake since no matter where or when you're, there are always going to blind spots. We got given a hard hand by being born into the end stages of infiltration and subversion, but enemies will be enemies. Identifying our former leaders as enemies simply by being incompetent is one thing, but we need to know to true forces attempting to push us the hang ourselves with our own rope. There is hope for our generation and even redemption for the past if we can accurately identify the forces moving against us and steer the ship back on a good course.

As a member of Generation X, I used to blame older generations too. The problem is life is too short to wait for 2 generations of teachers to change, because they mostly will not. You need to find a mentor and educate yourself through involvements, books, and experiments. The sad but beautiful truth is, you are responsible for your own education. If you find there is a lack of action, it is ulimately up to you to take it anyway.

It’s a societal disaster we should have seen coming years ago. We are also seeing young men giving up on dating. In the US only 34% of men under 30 are seeking a relationship, while 63% is the figure for young women. That’s Pew research data. Needless to say, the young women are dating older and more established men. That’s a time bomb ready to explode. Think dozens of Andrew Tates ready to weaponise the pain and anger of these young men. And I’m not condemning Andrew Tate followers. I understand the appeal. But I do not see him as a good role model.

Girls definitely needed to be able to become equal in society. My mother's generation (up to the 1980's) were treated like dirt with little independent prospects. The problem is this pervasive 'either/or' mentality in society at large and in this case the education system. Parents usually are on board with the equality bit, but unfortunately our education system seems to think that if one gender gains, then the other must lose. What about the simple idea of bolstering everyone and teaching good old fashioned manners and respect across the board.

Lets look at the future job market. Training in blue collar is down, dominated by males. White collar is increasing, dominated by women. Increasing numbers of women in the workforce, with less men in the work force. This will mean women will have to choose between dating down, and choosing to either work or have a child. These will increase pressures on her, and create a situation where she will have to choose. This then creates a population decline, because having a child will create to much financial stress. It can mean not being able to balance a budget for the lifestyle they lead. Population decline is a slow burn, and once that snowball gets going, good luck trying to control the outcome. More guys are moving away from wanting to be in relationships as well. This is a home goal for feminism. Population decline, and massive debts is what to expect in the future.

War famine and pestilence creates hard times - not weak men. And peace, good harvests and health creates good times - not strong men. No one but a fool would claim that the hard times brought by the bubonic plague created strong men. Those who survived the bubonic plague weren't necessarily stronger than those who died. They were simply lucky not to be exposed to the bacteria, carried by fleas, which infested the rats, that lived in proximity to humans. No strength required. Just avoid rat infested port towns. The trouble with glib aphorisms, with superficial appeal is that they have the advantage of brevity - people love a snappy catch phrase. However, the truth generally takes longer to express. Here's the double flaw in the glib aphorism by Mr. *B B* below: 1: Hard times do NOT create strong men. 2: Good times do NOT create weak men. Also, if strong men _did_ create good times, which in turn created weak men - then we have a situation where strong men create weak men - presumably their own children. This follows logically from Mr. *B B* s aphorism. For which there isn't a shred of evidence. Many people accept this clap-trap without any scrutiny or consideration. But they tend to gain meme status because of their glib brevity.
