I just adopted a male & female pair about a month ago, and the first night I heard that noise but couldn't figure out wtf was going on! I finally just happen to see Hunter doing it all of a sudden, and it's AMAZING how fast they can vibrate their tail!! 😳

+Tiffany Geiler yeah so quick lol. but yeah as ^^^ said, hopefully they don't live together, because you're almost certainly going to get babies, but even out of breeding, they shouldn't live together, so you will have to get a separate set up (if you haven't already, that is, haha :))

My gecko Pflip has been doing all that this spring and I was so confused as to why he would seem exited whenever I moved around his enclosure like he was waiting for food but still wouldn't eat. Today as he was flicking his tongue and swinging his tail I realized it might be pre-mating behaviour. I've never seen him do it before and I honestly thought he was a girl the whole 11 years I've had him. Glad I know what's up now so I can stop worrying. He has never been exposed to a female gecko before so I am a bit confused...

He also was rubbing his pores onto the paper towels which dispenses his pheromones. You can tell because he will wiggle his but more when he walks and drag it on the ground.

I've never been a lizard person, I was when I was small but I lost interest when I was about 10 and since 7th grade I've been studying snakes. I got extremely interested and basically I forgot all about geckos and other lizards. But my boyfriend is more of a lizard person so I decided to look into it and I fell in love all over again while watching your channel. Now we've got a few and are starting a breeding program because of your knowledge on the geckos and also we got our local petsmart to stop using sand for substrate. I'm new to the gecko stuff but I'm really loving it so far (I'm still a snake nut though) lol

Gecko question: Got a baby 2 weeks ago and I've got some concerns. It barely eats, it never eats when it's outside a hide, it's NEVER outside a hide. It shed about a week ago. Doesn't eat mealworms left out for it in a bowl, or just roaming around the tank. Finally I have repti carpet as a substrate and it's always trying to dig into it and claw at it.

+Sean Asgari try eco earth lol, seems like it wants to dig. Make sure its getting enough heat, otherwise its not going to be hungry. and try adding one at a time. like for example I can add a bowl of mealworms in the viv with diego, and he wont bother with them. I add one at a time (one, then he eats, then add another) and he'll eat them all.. If you check out my 'how to encourage a gecko to eat', you'll see theres a few ways of approaching it :)

+Leopard Gecko Thanks for the advice. I'll try the one at a time method. Just that it doesn't go out of its hide, like I haven't built an amazing relationship with it yet. Its chill with my hands, but too much movement won't work. It gets too scared when I'm around, like I keep the calcium dish just outside the hide, and if I step in the room when it's "eating" it, it'll scurry right back into the hide. It won't eat when I'm around... :/

I just turned to see my Branch biting on Creeks elbow (which I know is a mating ritual thing) but I panicked and reacted too quickly to pull them apart so I don't know if they were mating or fighting. Now I'm panicking because if theyre fighting I can't afford a second setup. My geckos haven't made any noises and there was no hissing or anything before I looked so I'm leaning toward mating but I've no clue?? Im also not 100% positive on their genders but the guy at the pet store guess that Branch was the boy and Creek was a girl so maybe?..

Thanks for this. Mines been doing this the last few days so I came to search what it could be. Had an idea it was marking scent. He's been off his food for a little while. Seems really well and not looking thin or anything. Asked the breeder and she said he would be expecting to mate so maybe that's why.. We can't breed him as there is a fault in his genetics so pet only... Just wondered how long would he be feeling like this. Feel sorry for him! He climbs out the Viv onto my hand so he doesn't seem too upset. Just wish he would eat a bit more so I can stop worrying

I got a new baby leopard gecko and she is not eating normally, I tried giving her crickets but it like she doesn't want them or like them because she either ignore them or hides from them. I also started giving her mealworms and she doesn't eat those either and I don't know what else I can do to get her to eat I know people ask this a lot and I have seen your other videos and did what you said but so far nothing is there something else I can do.

well then im sorry but i dont now what to tell you, there could be a problem with it's vision, so before you go waste money on a vet appointment, try just scanning your gecko and its enclosure, also it might be too cold or hot did you do your research and it has everything it needs? if not i suggest you look into that. also i'm guessing you know to not use sand as substrate but if you do, idk i guess it got impacted and IMMEDIATELY remove the sand, if you dont currently have eco earth use paper towels.

my male does that, i had him out with the female just to see how they interact and he grabbed her in her mid section it did not look violent but i stopped what ever it is. It is a confirmed male and female to your knowledge is this pre - mating behavior? "edit" she is unharmed did not look stressed. they wont be spending time together unless i want to breed them in a responsible way.

+Bryce J well babies can be quite noisy when you approach but easy to handle but getting an adult is even better because they are used to be around loud noise , humans etc. I got 3 at the moment two of them are five years old and i got an older one at 7 and he is quite big. Note dont put two males with eachother

It's fine to pick them up as much as you want as long as the gecko doesn't mind. One of mine often walks onto my hand when she gets the chance.

If you haven't already gotten your gecko, then I'd recommend a young one. Extremely young geckos may bite and scream a lot (the bites don't hurt) and younger geckos are more skittish, inaccurate when catching food, and more excited around food. They won't scream or be skittish with some taming (partly depends on personality). It's much easier to bond with a young gecko than an adult.

I’m afraid to let my male near the younger female - he did the vibrator thing but then bit her tail- and that’s when I got scared!! He wouldn’t loosen his grip either .. I had to pick him up... ... but she doesn’t seem to mind - tail biting an all. It was mainly me freaking out .. I have them in the same cage separated by a clear plexiglass force shield (evil, I am) - and she seems eager for more. I really need to know - should I wait till she’s older? She’s about 6 months old and he’s almost a year. She has a welt on her tail now for the biting ... and I can’t help but think I screwed things up by interfering (maybe he bit harder??) But she appear abnormally “active” now... running around her side of the enclosure... oh hey he’s giving me puppy dog eyes... oh and now so is she! I need to know he won’t bite her tail off. You should wait until your female is a few months older around 9 months or higher. The tail biting is probably normal for leos. Males will bite anywhere on the female. She probably won't drop her tail. (Here is my over explanitory paragraph of breeding geckos) The time now isn't leo breeding season, not until next year. That's when your leo starts ovulating. As a mature female, she will lay infertile eggs every month or two, unless you a male fertilizes the eggs. When you do breed your leos, keep them in the same tank for at least 24 hours. You should seperate the two after the business is done, or your male will pester the female too much to the point where she dies. She will lay the eggs a few weeks later, and she will need to have a dark, moist environment to bury them in. You can use a moist substrate such as vemiculite or eco earth. Incubate the eggs at a temperature of 80-90 degrees. Since geckos are temperture sexed you can change the tenperature to get the gender you want. Males are 88-90f, and females are 80-83f. You can have both sexes at 84-86f. Eggs take 1-3 months to hatch. Once they do, wait a few hours before moving them. Wait a few days before feeding them.
