In this #MeToo moment, we wanted to acknowledge that #MenToo can be victims of sexual assault, and it's really not funny. Don't just take it from us, take it from Terry Crews.

Saying that women are the only ones who are abused, and men are the only ones who abuse, is highly offensive for both genders if you really, really think about it. So just stop.

Thanks Samantha, it's so obvious but it really needs to be said. Victimhood should not be a gendered issue, everyone who needs support should get it.

Thank you for covering this topic, Sam. I hope we can see a few more like this over time. If you can talk about depression and mental health issues, suicide, and how closely this correlates to domestic violence against women and young children, that would be an awesome topic. Too many young men are struggling to talk about their mental health and instead turn to drugs, alcohol and self-harm, and this is a leading factor in domestic violence against women and children, as well as other young men.

Honestly? Glad to see people take this seriously; because I see a lot of people not take it seriously. It feels hypocritical when women yell at me for even bringing up the fact that this is a thing. It's not invaliding the victims of women to point out that this issue isn't just one sided; especially considering that, when it's a joke on SpongeBob, you know it's not a controversial idea.

Give me a break, it is men who laugh at other men getting sexually abused, stop lying
@samcroft70846 жыл бұрын
It is hypocritical, I think it comes out of fear (there is so much pain for women in the #metoo movement we worry about losing focus) and out of the prevalent idea in society around gender. No real solution except to keep talking about it and to include men in the discussion to make it easier for more men who have survived assault to speak out.
@opaqueandbluefrommyphone43396 жыл бұрын
Hi there sunshine it's women too. You can't say that you haven't thought about your abuser having the same thing done to them in prison. I have. I'll admit it, revenge sounds beautiful at times. It doesn't solve anything, and for the people who have been victims, they're going through the same thing. I don't want that for anyone. In the end it doesn't solve anything. It just continues the line of abuse. We still laugh about it and joke about it though, then get uncomfortable when it starts connecting to us, both men and women.
@erinb14716 жыл бұрын
It is a thing and deserves discussion. However, it is unfortunately common for it to be used to disrupt discussions of women's experiences.

After reading some comments... I'm curious about a line of reasoning I've noticed. A few here are saying they support this message, but it's important to know they don't like Samantha and think she's unfunny. Is that really the point some people want to make in this video? Well... what a sad display of priorities. I'm glad they got Terry to do this. He was the perfect guy.

Anyone else looking through this comment section who was sexually assaulted and because of constant male stereotypes, was systematically taught to hide all emotion towards it and keep every feeling of the control lost in that moment locked away inside them, not ever to let it out? All these guys nowadays unable to lock their emotions away SMH.
@Pistolita2216 жыл бұрын
Samuel Robins yeah.
@clancywiggum566 жыл бұрын
Samuel Robins men "hiding" emotions isn't a thing, men are less emotional and handle their emotions different to women. You think men should handle things in a feminine way rather than handle themselves their own way which is sexism.
@brucebatson61516 жыл бұрын
Samuel Robins men just tend to openly show emotion less cos most of the time they're viewed as the "head" of the family. You'd expect your mother to cry and your father to comfort her, not the other way around.
@NertardXD6 жыл бұрын
Okay Chief Claney Wiggum, I disagree, I think everyone hides their emotions not just men. Did you read my comment? I say that men shouldn't show emotion, it's just natural. And are you saying I'm a sexist towards men?
