It took me a lot of tries to beat her on the first run and NG+ (because I tried dual katanas and I got way too greedy). NG+2, she only took 3 times but with a pyro-knight build I wanted (fire incantations and a greatsword with flaming strike) and I had a nice list of those to use against her.

on my first attempt, she was the only boss i used a spirit summon for, it died before the half way point, but it gave me just enough to beat her, she brutalized me 483 times on my first, 180 times on my second, and now i can beat her in 1-2 tries every other time, even in NG+6. strength through suffering and perseverance.

I never summon in souls games unless it's for a quest. I also don't use magic on a first play thrugh, so Mal was an experience, one I hated, because I also didn't use bleed, so it was the GIT GOOD GRIND. I didn't feel the same challenge I did with, say, Fume Knight, Orphan of Koss or Friede, instead I felt like I was fighting shit like Blue Smelter all over again, to the point where I don't want to do this boss ever again unless I 100% know I can slice her to ribins fast enough before Mal decides to Duck dance all over my corps.

As someone who recently soloed Malenia with a Dex/Faith build (with a lot of dex and just enough faith for buffs) taking me 7 hours the feeling of slaying her alone is so good. It took a lot of trial and error and learning her behavior but it was worth it and also I'm thankful for the script that allows you to revive the bosses that was very helpful in reviving Malenia

I defeated her on my 2nd try but I am not really counting it as a win. Elden Ring is my 1st souls game and I tried to finish it without any guides, so I eventually stumbled on some Ashes, some cheap sorceries and this one bleeding katana everyone is laughing at now by my own and just used them. I defeated her with a cheap tricks but also fell in love with her story and aesthetic, and now I am making a second playthrou. Focusing on learning the game mechanic instead of cheesing it, and with intention to give Malenia a fight with a true Elden Lord, becouse such great character totally deserves it. Altho I really hope that in the comming DLC we will have an option to help her and Miquella usher the Age of Unalloyed Gold rather than just kill them off.

I found out that having a light load really helps. It's easier to dodge waterfowl and her other attacks. But the trade off is you die easier but that usually doesn't matter since she hits hard anyway.

Look, I've come to terms that Malenia is the one boss that I cannot beat in any soulsborne game. I know I won't earn that achievement, and thus preventing me from 100% the game and being the 2nd one (the other being bloodborne as I don't really care that much for it honestly) that I don't 100%. It may hurt my ego, but at least I'm honest with myself, something that this... funny thing is: i killed her on the 1st try to my surprise... but with a Dark Moon Greatsword(Moonlight blade)... but i didn't even care to dodge. It was just that easy to spam lasers and hitting her with melee and ranged attack at the same time practically doing double damage. I tried to use these tactics when fighting the Regal Ancestor Spirit like other bosses. But when I realized that my own spirit summons don’t last long enough against it and no own really puts down a summon to assist me there, I limited my equipment to just my armor for obvious protection, the Banished Knight’s Halberd for range, the Clawmark Seal to enhance my weapon with holy damage using Order’s Blade incantation, and several firebombs to deal fire damage. It took many tries and the spirit I summoned was Latenna the Albinauric, who helped weather down the Regal Ancestor Spirit from a distance. However, every attempt had her be killed at the beginning or halfway through the fight. But on my latest attempts, I managed to hold off for a while without her assistance till I finally beat that ugly moose bitch. Nonetheless, some people want to find easy ways to play the game without always resorting to pure skill and techniques to win battles. So don’t judge people who want assistance for the hardest of bosses. As for those who call for Let Me Solo Her to fight Malenia, well….that’s just what they prefer. But it doesn’t mean you have to shame anyone for wanting to complete the game by any means.
