I’d argue that the certificate themselves aren’t worth much but what you learn in them is!

And I want many people to pass, that's why the structure of this is a bit unusual with a focus on things that I haven't seen in any other course (but maybe I haven't seen enough ;-)0

I only wish the course includes portfolio prep before applying for jobs. I am all in and can't wait for your course :)

Hi! Portfolios and Resumes are something we're considering to cover in another course, as this first one is more about how to design well (good paths and practices). Definitely there is a plan on a mini-course on killer-portfolios later this year :)

I think the question is how closely does the certificate measure your knowledge and skills in a subject. If the cert. is given out to everyone who gets through the entirety of the course, and not measured by the quality and effort output of the student, then it’s not going to measure or say anything. The problem is designing a course in a way where you can confidently say that the certificate is only given to those who show a certain level of skill or knowledge. In other words, it’s not easy to put it into practice and certificates usually fall short of this goal. I’m excited for your course for this reason. Not everyone who completed the course gets a certificate. But those that do can be confident that they are going in the right direction in progressing in their skills and knowledge in UI. I want to see or gage if what I learn and my level of skill in UI is enough to earn a certificate. That way, I can confidently tackle my imposter syndrome and if I don’t earn a certificate, well then I will know where I’m at in the spectrum of UI skill and know what I need to work on.

Yeah, I think that reinforcement was also one of the things that helped the most with all my previous attempts to guide and help junior designers - often times they felt they weren't good enough when they were, and that led to subconsciously sabotaging themselves on job interviews. This course is going to be different as it focuses heavily on one very important aspect of UI design that is very measurable and objective. Can't wait to share more :)

love your objectivity and honesty man! how long is your course?

A little over 4 hours of video (at least that's my goal but still some videos to record in the coming days, so it may get longer)

Hey Mike! I have a question: how much prep work should I do before your course goes live? I've just finished course 1 of the Google certificate, and am watching some tutorials about how to use Figma. Thanks!
@MalewiczHype3 жыл бұрын
Hi, just the complete basics of any design tool - how to create a rectangle, change its color etc. It will be very beginner friendly :)

I plan to take the google course to educate myself about the UX Design career path before completely making the leap, and i understand that's typically not enough to land a job. Should I be pursuing a specific bachelors degree (such as design ) that would help me secure a UX career in the future?
@MalewiczHype2 жыл бұрын
Degrees don’t help that much either. Working on a portfolio of made-up projects is key, then networking with ither designers :)

Hi! In some cases Gumroad only "locks" the funds on the card without debiting the account - I think that debit will happen on the day of the launch.

Malewicz: An Online certificate is just a jpg or png. Also, Malewicz: Here is my course with a jpg certificate... I've seen many other people offer courses claiming they will do the hard work of grading and mentoring. But after a week or so, why did I do this? Dude, just offer your course on Udemy to compete with all the other courses already in the market.
@MalewiczHype3 жыл бұрын
I may have been a bit unclear if that's what you got from this :) Don't worry about me giving up, I've been helping hundreds of designers with free reviews for years, I can deliver. And no, the certificate won't be a JPG, it will be more about that feedback and guidance + telling people that I believe they are now good. That's worth more than a JPG. Cheers!
@m3vm3 Жыл бұрын
I don’t think it’s relevant. I don’t want to dedicate months to get a certificate when I can focus on building a project or case studies of my choosing. That demonstrate ux and ui principles

I have a question. What software do you use to annotate your videos ?
@MalewiczHype3 жыл бұрын
I do all those texts / visuals in Sketch and simply add them to Final Cut.
