Fun fact: Gomez Addams in the top 5 of the richest man in fiction. He even estimates to be richer than Bruce Wayne. He got properties in swamp, mines, morgues. This is not because he is a genius businessman but because he has whimsical luck and success in everything he does. Anything he invested, he gain major profits. Technically it’s all Fester’s since he was the older brother, but after he disappeared, all the Addams’ properties were signed over to Gomez. The police officer is played by Nathan Lane who played Gomez Addams in the 2010 Original Broadway cast of 'The Addams Family Musical' (Wednesday has grown up, cut her braids and has invited her boyfriend and his parents over for dinner, typical family drama dealing with children growing up and changes happening - since the Addams Family are like any other family just with a higher torture tolerance).

That last bit is what annoys me about the modern ones (stage show, Wednesday, etc)... The whole point of the Addams is they're supposed to be *opposite* of a normal family, the dad&mum love each other etc... While modern shows seem to make them "average family, but goth"

This movie is such a classic-- and i for one think its plenty family friendly! Most innuendos would go over kids heads (like they did mine when i was a kid and watched this) and it teaches a great moral IMO of 'no matter how different or bizarre your family is, as long as you all love and support each other, you have a happy family!' Which was what I always got from it. Plus morticia and gomez gave me the BEST example of what to expect in a partner. [Edit to specify i was between 8-10 when i first saw this movie ]

"let them have cake" wasn't actually a real phrase said by Marie-Antoinette. Critics of the Queen claimed she had in order to make her look insensitive and undermine her position. Marie has simply been misinterpreted, that she meant brioche (bread) one way and people took it for another(cake). There was certainly a huge industry devoted to attacking and slandering the Queen, making all sorts of even pornographic and remark attacks on her to sully her reputation. Just to clear the air.
