The way this film went from a standard if well-directed modern horror flick in the first two thirds, to this insane X-men meets Matrix Reloaded slaughterfest in the final third took me instantly from 5/10 to 10/10. Gabriel is one of if not the best new slasher/movie monster out to film in the last decade, hands down.

But part of me felt like the corny lines and bonkers character logic were intentional comedy/parody, and the cell scene cemented it. The third act of this film is legendary, makes the whole movie worth watching. That chair toss had me in hysterics 😂

Honestly, Gabe here seems more supernatural because he can make bulbs and electricity violently combust/discharge and we only see that electronics going nuts when a being from a higher plain of existence is in the area, this happens because of the energy the entity produces is like a more aggressive version of an EMP. Also Gabe has incredible martial arts/assassin like skills but the question is where did he learn them? or did he always have them? Also i love the powerful name the gave him:Gabriel, an arch angel. Simply awesome.

Emily as a kid calling him the devil and his electricity power kinda implies that he's in fact a demon of some sort. And he also probably learned those moves from Madinson since they share the same brain. Theory: Madinson probably watched fighting movies with her husband (who beat her, waking Gabriel up), and that's how she and him learned those moves.

Given the lights were out, and his odd movements (plus it seems there is a super healing factor) it is plausible that the police could shoot him because they couldn’t predict him AND even if he got hit, he might survive unless a vital organ was hit. Heck, Madison/Emily seems to do so too.

I don't like horror films all that much, especially ones with lots of gore, but I keep coming back to this scene because aside from all that it's such a brilliantly choreographed fight sequence, where the violence is just stylized enough to not feel unsettling, partly due to the striking cinematography and lighting

james wan has always had that cool style in his action sequences, that rotating rotating from angel to another that looked like it was taken from a sports camera. its so cool. as for this scene, they went straight up assasin's creed. love it
