I'm glad you mentioned contacting hotels directly instead of some booking websites. the last place I stayed at in Corfu charged me almost 37 euro a night via booking site. the Hotel said the same room, they could offer for 25 euros a night. Apparently, the room rates in Summer are hiked up 15-20% to cover booking website charges.
@GabrielTravelerVideos5 жыл бұрын
Yep, exactly. They have to pay the website and they pass that extra charge onto you, at least sometimes. At some places I've asked them at the desk which is better and they said it will be cheaper if I book it on the website.

Hi Gabriel! I’m Maltese, found your video very interesting 😊 If you do come back, definitely come back during spring. With regards to beaches, for some reason Ghajn Tuffieha and Golden Bay are voted as the top beaches on the island time and time again and I just do not understand why. They’re crowded and if the wind is blowing towards the shore, there’s too much seaweed in the water to actually enjoy swimming. I would suggest visiting Delimara which is in the Southeast. There’s a lot of nice swimming spots and it’s great for hiking too. And definitely spend more time in Gozo if you return! You can pretty much walk everywhere there if you’re adventurous and if you’re not, the next place is just a 5 minute bus ride away.

What would you say are the best beaches you have visited in the world? I agree, most of the Mediterranean doesn’t have the best beaches they’re kind of rocky. But the water is insanely blue and clear.. The best actual beaches, with powdery white sand and stuff, that I have ever visited are probably in Tulum, Mexico. It’s like walking on sugar.

As a local Maltese person, I can say Gab's tips are 100% correct. Any month outside of July and August is a good time to visit, the best by far being May, which will have glorious 25C weather and way less crowds than peak season. Rental cars during off peak season can be had for as little as €20 per day. Deals can be had on accommodation during this time to. Also agree with Gab about the beaches, don't visit Malta just for the beaches its not worth it. On the other hand If you want to experience the whole breath of human history, there's nigh a better place on the planet, with some nice beaches, unique natural landscapes and good food as the cherry on top. I will finish of with a plug for my partner's lovely airbnb in the quiet village of Qrendi which would make a great base to explore the island if you get a rental car: www.airbnb.com.mt/rooms/15718230

Before you make a statement like that do some research first...Malta is one of the few countries in the world that does treatment to all drainage before being disposed of in the water..its been doing this for the last 12/13 years and now it also re-uses 60% of this fully treated water for agricultural purposes..yes true around 20 years ago we had SOME polluted sea areas but not anymore..and another thing Maltese waters can only be polluted for a short time actually days because its an island in the middle of the sea and currents change everyday.

@GabrielTravelerVideos5 жыл бұрын
I managed to get back up alright, I could see it was possible looking at it. The city buses don't have bathrooms on them in most places but generally the longer-distance buses do. You never know for certain though until the bus shows up. So I recommend not drinking a lot of fluids before any long bus trip. Of course there are exceptions such as Greyhound, Flixbus, etc. in which they always have bathrooms.

Can't really be negative on KZbin because it would hurt to many feelings and cause down votes and dislikes. I guess this is why every travel video only shows one side of the experience. Personally I'd prefer the full story.
@Simonsvids5 жыл бұрын
@@thesovereignindividual6594 To get the real story you need to watch videos by someone who is not a professional KZbinr. I have spent months on Malta and the beaches are terrible. The rocks are really sharp and you have to wear shoes or get cuts on your feet. The water however is mostly clear and great for diving. After a while, after being everywhere on there, you get the feeling of being stuck on a rock in the med. The only way out is by plane or ferry to Italy. There is only one large supermarket in Valletta. Takes a while to get to if you dont live in the capitol. Many of the roads are in a terrible state with potholes. Building standards are below average for Europe. It is a bonus if any of the plumbing actually works. Car accidents are frequent and Maltese are known for their terrible driving. Malta is close to North African coast and suffers increasingly from illegal immigration.
@thesovereignindividual65945 жыл бұрын
@@Simonsvids yeah exactly too bad the truth is hidden because of commercial interests. I had the same experience with Philippines. Just spent a month there and I truly don't understand how all these youtubers manage to create such a twisted image. PH is super rough and uncomfy. After traveling 35 countries honestly PH shocked me. No health food just junk food. Cheap yeah but underdeveloped and rough. Poor extremely poor people everywhere begging you. Street kid gangs trying to pickpocket you even 200 meters. Knowing 35 other countries I don't see how there's so many youtubers that only show the good side of the PH which is harder to find there then in 90 percent of other countries. I felt cheated by the youtube videos 4 real lol. I loved being there and seeing nice nature but it would be nicer to know how a place really is instead of the lies, no other way to put it in case of PH.
