One of the most talented singers in history. Her voice was golden. I met her for 5 minutes when I was 13. She was so gracious.🌹

The 60's were such turbulent years, but the best music came out of it. I love folk music and especially the Mamas & Papas. Cass had a incredible voice. Gone too soon.

Mamas and the Papas were one of my favorite groups, but Cass Elliot was the star. She could really sing. I felt so badly when she died.

Cass had blue-eyed soul. She was close with and respected by so many folk pop rockers across the country including the young Eagles. And Michelle Phillips was not hard to look at - a maneater.

She was amazing and paved the way for the ones that came after her that didn’t fit the usual thin, pretty model but were original and super talented. Thanks Cass!!!

It's incredibly annoying that Mama Cass was judged because of her weight. I've yet to hear of one overweight, amazing black blues or gospel singer disrespected in this manner. Mama rocks!
@marlanaedwards52963 жыл бұрын
You're right. She never should have been judged by her weight. That was not nice.

Black women singers back then just got disrespected for being black - unless they were a Supreme or 5th Dimension.

Martha Wash was treated in the same manner as Cass. Read of the C+C Music Factory “Gonna Make You Sweat” video controversy……

I grew up listening to their music. We’d sing along and I’ll never forget all the times I had tears in my eyes. Their music touched me. Even as I listen now at 72 years old I got tears in my eyes. RIP graceful, soulful, lovable, honorable, talented Mama Cass.

So...without looking up as I write this...who's alive from the group, Mamas and Papas? The rock-pop quartet had many top hits I liked. "Monday Monday" and "I Saw Her Again Last Night" are my favorites. Everytime I hear those tunes...I remember my love of 1966: L.G.S. Thanks for the fond memories. Good documentary.
I just realized when I am unconsciously dancing, I dance like Cass. I grew up on the Mamas and the Papas. My brother, sister and friends would sit in the living room singing their harmonies. I was singing along the entire time. So happy to see footage I never saw before. She had such a unique voice and personality. 🤩 She is irreplaceable and very much missed. 😔

Cass had such talent and such a grand personality that some of us discounted Michelle completely. She wasn't talentless, but there is no such thing as having more talent than Cass.

Every time I heard Cass sing I just melt. She has such a phenomenal voice and astonishing charisma. Her sister Leah also has an amazing voice. You can really hear a similarity between them. Quite a few of Leah's songs are on KZbin.

The group was abit before my time but I have listened to their music and it's great. Mama Cass made the group. She had an awesome voice and talent. It's such a pity that her weight was focused on. Gone to soon....
