I've been around many, many mama cats while they birth and a lot of them make biscuits while birthing...it's a comforting mechanism, but also tells you that they are feeling happy and safe. They also wait for you to be around before deciding to go into contraction. I've had every single cat who birthed babies in my house wait until I woke up or came home from work and then, BAM, time to go! Long before Cats were seen as "agents of evil", there was an old custom, in many different societies, where Midwives would find a cat in labour (there were so many cats living around "castles" and closely built communities that invariably, they would find one!) and bring her to have her kittens next to a birthing woman, to show her how how happy and calm the cat remained during labour. The cats purring would have also helped bring down the woman's heart rate, blood pressure, and anxiety levels as well. This may be why many Pre-Christian Goddesses of fertility and childbirth were closely associated with cats. Even the cat-headed Bast of ancient Egypt, was a Goddess of Mothers and small children.

@Lord Frieza You used "get rid of". But I disagree about easier. A female cat can have up to 2 litters a year. That's up to 12 kittens a year. That's a lot of kittens to "give away". Rescue Centers, Humane Societies and SPCAs are overcrowded right now with "spring" kittens that with climate change the time starts earlier & goes longer. Spaying would have been the best and most humane option. This poor cat could have easily been killed while on her own & that would have been just as bad as if the owners had just "gotten rid" of her :(

@@lorriefinley3129 Where I come from it's money in many cases. From the cost of spaying a female cat a family of 3 eats for a week. Not everyone can afford that. You can say don't keep cats, but especially when you live in a house with a garden, often strays will just choose you. People start feeding them, in some cases even fully adopt them into their house and lives but won't be able to go pay for spaying. What would be the solution? Don't even care for them? Chase them away? Not letting our your cat is something I do agree with but it's easier said than done. Sometimes they escape. And it only takes one escape for a female to come back pregnant.

Our cat went into labor when i was still in high school, I had an exam that morning and my parents refused to stay home or write an excuse for me to stay home so i want to the exam and ran back home right afterwards (our poor cat was literally scraming for us not to go that morning and shes never clingy, thats how we knew she was in labor. She obviously didnt want us to leave 😢). When i came back home she was waiting by the door and we immediately went together to her box set up with towels etc. She never wants to be pet but during birth shed want my moral support and be prt, etc. I did my best petting her and encouraging her and she gave birth to 3 beautiful kittens :). She waited until I came home to help her.

OH she is just darling! What a sweet, sweet little mama. Her chirping was off the charts, both in the amount and cuteness! What a precious thing she is. Anyone would be lucky to have her as their pet companion. Of course the babies were all way too precious! Poor little bowtie. I have been thru that situation several times with new born kittens. It's always heart shattering when any of them don't make it. I remember every single one, like it was yesterday. Hurts me to my very soul. Still, on a positive note, this was amazing, and you can tell that mama Pasta loved you guys instantly. Never seen such a happy pregnant cat. She was so loving, and just heart meltingly cute!

I just love this story. Making me cry! I adopted a stray that just appeared on our property one day (20 acres). I thought Miss Kitty was quite bloated or fuzzy (chubbs) but I soon realized she was knocked up! It was a really hard time in our lives. My husband was valiantly fighting serious, chronic pain of unknown source, trying to get him help, we had the requisit money issues that so often go with these horrible situations. But mamma kitty was just this bright spot and brought such joy to our lives I can't tell you! Eventually, we managed to get all her kittens eventually spayed/neutered as appropriate. I should have gotten mama spayed first, bit I was doing the best I could. I am disabled, but I got everyone of those kittens to the surgeon so no more babies were made. Then we were going to have mama kitty spayed and I think she knew the jig was up - maybe she overheard us discussing the arrangement and she bolted out of the front door at her first opportunity. Never to be seen again. It's like she appeared out of nowhere and dropped these adorable babies and split. It wasn't a huge litter, but the kittens helped my husband carry on for as long as he could. I just wanted to share my little story - joy can come from the weirdest of circumstances. Help control the pet population, have your pets spayed or neutered.

Actually cats and other animals don't feel the same amount of pain during labour or throughout their giving birth. It's just the humans who feel excruciating pain throughout their pregnancies. Also, reason why cats don't allow hunans near during labour is bc they don't trust humans and wanna be secluded and in peace while giving birth. So if your cat trusts you a lot, she'll allow you to be near and even touch her while she's giving birth

Animals are less complicated than humans, thus they are a respite for those of us who are otherwise a bit overwhelmed with the difficulty of life. Often they show us that simple goodness we crave. We made a hasty little nesting area in a cupboard using a stool, a bath towel and flat cushion with an old towel folded over it. Three kittens were born and all three survived - the Corona kitties, we called them, conceived because we couldn't get Mama sterilised because of the first quarantines. When cats bond with you, they feel secure wirh you near them. A cat is never more vulnerable than when giving birth, of course they want their biggest security blanket with them. I remember after I got myself and my cat out of an apartment fire, how he was a bit more clingy for the next few days until he got comfortable in our new surroundings. He was always a confidant and outgoing cat, but for a few days he didn't let me leave his sight, and wanted to be on my lap or at least touching me. People that dismiss cats as pets just don't know what they are talking about or what they are missing.

This reminds me of a cat I knew, she was a stray we found would often take shelter under our house and lived around the neighborhood. She was the most beautiful, sweetest, and trusting cat ever, but my mom wouldn't let us take her in (understandable) because we had three cats already and one in particular would never have gotten along with another cat. Even so, she was such a lovely lady I would often hang out with her outside because she loved the attention and I fell in love with her. Well anyways, we found she was pregnant, and when her time came, she decided to come to us to give birth! She started meowing in our driveway and one of our nicer cats took notice from the window. We prepared a box and a blanket and some food and water in our shed as quickly as we could. She struggled a bit, but she came out alright and so did all of her kittens! Sadly, we couldn't keep her, but seeing how tame and dependent she seemed to be with humans, and the fact that no one had lost a cat, we figured she may have been abandoned and (while I personally thought it wasn't the best thing to do) we gave her to an old couple who lived a bit far away and in the middle of nowhere, the type of people who would feed the cats that lived in the area and let them in their barn but not in their home or give them lots of attention or anything, so I felt pretty bad about that but there wasn't anything I could do because I'm just a kid and powerless to do anything for her and, as a kid, I didn't have any money to fork over for a surrendering fee to get her to a shelter or something. I miss her all the time, but we did get to keep two of her kitten we couldn't find homes for (since the other mean cat we had could easier get slowly used to babies than a grown cat) and I look at them all the time and see how they take after her, so loving and wonderful. Mama Pasta reminds me of her, so beautiful and kind and trusting. And what lovely babies both mamas had! Cats are such wonderful creatures ❤❤
@Apo123453 жыл бұрын
I'm pretty sure she has a good life in the barn, with food and a little bit of love. Where I come from, the stray cats appreciate a good family to visit a few times a day, the safety of the yard, the "conversations" with the humans and the petting, but they also need their freedom, their socializing time with the other free cats through the neighbours' gardens, the hunting, the breeding. At least that's what I see in the cats from my area. Even our tom cat, who was born indoors and comes from an indoor cat family, as soon as he came into our countryside family, began to love the freedom he's having. Even in the coldest winter days, when we really want to keep him in the house, he gets bored and wants to go out for adventures. I really think he's living the best life.

@@Apo12345 That's pretty comforting, and tbh, you're probably right. I just felt bad thrusting her into a brand new environment, with cats who may or may not be unwelcoming to her and perhaps with less human attention than she'd have been used to. She also was so scared at the car ride that she peed and pooed herself, and didn't stop meowing the whole time, not comforted by anything I tried to do because, well, she didn't like the car ig. And it was a looooooong ride, the poor kitty. I might've gotten pretty attached to her, and the car ride too, maybe that's partially why I felt so bad....... But yeah, she's most likely doing okay, and I hope she is feeling happy now. She's got everything she needs up there, and cats can be very adaptable, ofc.

@@intenseschadenfreude6828 maybe you could ask for some news from her? (even eyars after.. we never know, people may tell you). That could bring peace to your heart

@@sarahs1083 Yeah, I've asked my sister to ask quite a few times (they're her grandparents, we're half sisters and they're not my family and I've met them maybe twice, so I don't have their contact nor does my anxiety at the awkward that would happen allow me to ask), and I even visited once, but my sister never did contact them and I never saw her when I went for a visit. I did hear, though, that there was another house somewhere in the area that the cats went to sometimes, and that when I went for a visit, that was probably where she was hanging out, if not just wandering around or hiding in an area I physically couldn't search in the barns. One day, I'll force my sister to ask 'em. One day...... Thanks for the suggestion, I really should get around to it! Gosh, I think I'm simply too attached to cats heh

She also reminds me of a cat my family had although he is a male, he died due to a disease. They never told me what disease it was, i loved the cat so much and i cried so much when i heard he died

That is a smart mother protecting her brood. You say she was in bad shape and flee ridden, but that cat was focused, and when you came along she knew what the deal was. Did what she had to do, good kitty.
