Or share their kittens. Tinykittens has videos of feral mamas that were caught while pregnant. Some if them came from the same colony & would double up together. I think it's a survivor instinct. Because one can hunt while the other watches all the kittens. Housecats are actually very social animals. Although it's done in their own way. Even the males sometimes help. Especially in a fostering situation. There's numerous male cats who help raise & care for foster kittens. Tinykittens has lots of videos of Grandpaw Mason. Their ancient scared feral tom cat. He had kidney disease. So they gave him a home for his last years. But when they introduced him to kittens he became a completely different cat. He absolutely loved them so much & we miss him every day. He spent several years helping to raise kittens & passed surrounded by them.

Mom cats are especially prone to taking in all kinds of species, from this little squirrel to an abandoned human baby. Animals are so empathetic and intuitive. They aren't prejudiced and have no agendas. Felines are famous for PICKING out their human and thankfully "that" human usually realizes in time what a great bond for life they will have. Sounds good. If only it were true. It certainly cannot stop starvation or any other human misery related to creation of physical resources needed for survival. After we lost our fur, and other more animal-like features, protecting hour young and weak with just loving licks, our own warm fur, and woman's milk doesn't really work.
