Cows are extremely attached to their babies. My neighbors had a cow that lost her calf to a coyote attack. She bellowed all day and night until she lost her voice. She stopped eating and they thought she was going to die of a broken heart. Then a dairy farmer down the road brought him a bull calf for her. She was instantly in love and adopted him straight away.

I've noticed through watching stories like this that in many species of animals, especially larger animals, the females are most fulfilled when they're caring for their babies or young! it's like they were put on this world with one Instinct... and that is to nurture, raise, and be a good mother to their babies! The female animal's primary purpose on this Earth is to raise their offspring...Wether it's this cow, or the mother tiger I saw who was just beside herself calling her baby for weeks after the baby passed away. she roamed nearly a hundred fifty miles looking for that baby while making noises of sadness and not accepting the death... And, what about the stories we see where there is a female dog at a shelter or animal sanctuary who takes in all the different type of young baby animals that come into the sanctuary and nurtures them and raises them as her own... it's to fulfill their primary drive and instinct to be a mother... it is all they live for... God bless their hearts

People think of cows as dumb animals, when in fact they are not. Cows have feelings, good and bad days, and can be friendly, loving attention and playful. As a kid I remember taking the brush part of an old broken push broom to them and I started to brush them, and they LOVED it! And it warms my heart to hear of an occasional “saved” cow, because I can certainly tell you that some animals become pets. I can remember my favorite chicken, who was oddly affectionate, and then later my favorite little cow who was also a sweetheart, when they ended up on the dinner table. I get that dad was trying to enforce the point of food animals on me, to get me to understand, but I couldn’t eat. That was the worst times ever in a child’s life.
@Erin-Thor3 жыл бұрын
@Tracchofyre - I didn’t mean that there was anything wrong with eating animals But that when your favorite ends up on the table, it’s a traumatic experience for a kid. There are certain animals that you bond with, develop friendship with, that are unique in some way.

@Erin-Thor3 жыл бұрын
@Tracchofyre - Maybe... But the experience made me realize I’d never do that to my kids, LOL! And my dad was kinda right, we raised animals for food, not pets. I think my bigger point in sharing that was that some animals become so much more. We’d have these fireside dinners outside every so often, and that chicken would just hop up in my lap and fall asleep. It was kinda cool. And raising that cow, from the day it was born I knew it was different. It just seemed so much smarter and friendlier than any of the others. We’d leave for school, and it would come over to watch me leave, I’d stop, scratch her head and everything just seemed better. We had a bull that became a little hostile at times, and I remember being in the field, I walked in to say hello to her, and up comes this angry bull. She never let that bull get close to me, wherever side he went to she was between us. She stayed with me all the way to the fence line. People say cows are dumb, and that may be true, but that one, she was a sweetheart. So gentle, so friendly, and like that day in the field, protective even. IMHO she deserved to live a long and happy life.

In India, cows are considered mothers. You see...they have motherly love like no one else ❤️ They are loyal, intelligent, loving and extremely emotional animals.
@NikhilMuralidharan3 жыл бұрын
That's only in words. If cows were considered mothers why do people milk the cow everyday, artificially inseminate (which involves putting their hand inside her anus and a rod inside her uterus), separate the calf from it's mother, kill the calf if it's a male, kill the cow (sold off to leather and meat industry) after the milk production decreases after 3 to 4 pregnancy and lactation cycles? Who treats their human mother like this? Cows lactates to nourish it's young ones just like all mammals do. So stop troubling other mammals for milk, cheese, butter, ghee, curd etc. Those animals aren't commodities to be exploited for our needs. So don't be under the false impression that cows are treated like mother. I don't know if you are a vegan or not. It's so odd how I've never seen a Cow run. The calf almost looks like a mini Horse. I wonder if Cows have that big chunky appearance because of how we use them, always sedentary producing milk. I bet they can naturally remain lean in the wild with space to be active.
@grass78643 жыл бұрын
I've never thought about it before. In fairness, wild buffalo are closely related to cattle, and they're also pretty chunky independent of human influences. It might just be the way they are. But it's certainly a very interesting hypothesis! I bet cattle at least have the capacity to be much more athletic than we've come to expect.

Different breeds have different body types. These are Holstein (primarily dairy cows), long legged and very sensitive to changing weather, hence the fact that the baby got pneumonia in the winter. My family has a small farm and we had had Holstein, but now have Hereford (primarily beef cattle) which are shorter, more muscular, and less prone to getting sick due to changing weather. If you keep cattle healthy and happy, they will be at their ideal weight.

This right here is a prime example as to why humans shouldn't consume animals or any other animal related products. Most animals farmed for these reasons are treated horribly throughout their whole lives. Sorry but using/consuming anything to do with animals just isn't worth it to me and supports the cruel and harsh treatment they are forced to endure. I am heart broken thinking about what these precious creatures are subjected too, it shouldn't be happening and it needs to come to an end. No living thing should live through the torture, abuse and neglect they go through day and night just for the personal gain of humans. People often say they don't want to hear it or they don't want to talk about how the food they consume gets to their tables and why??? because it is disgusting and sad. It needs to be talked about maybe than people will see how poorly these animals are treated. So happy these precious cows were saved and will have a great life, it makes me think about the ones that aren't so fortunate.

Those who eat animals must realise even animals have emotions and feelings.. They also love their families.. Don't be selfish.
@AntoDesormeaux3 жыл бұрын
I thought so too but looking at what people comment on these topics I've found that some people really don't think that animals don't have emotions. I've found two reasons so far: 1) their religion says that humans and other animals are radically, totally different and only we have a soul, consciousness and internal world so to speak, and 2) they don't want to give up those animal products, maybe they like them or it could be how they make a living, so the cognitive dissonance is solved by thinking that it's okay so one believes that they're just like automatic machines, without real emotions, and fail to realize that it's a suspiciously convenient belief. I've definitely seen that from some dairy farmers who say it doesn't matter to rip a baby away from its mother, it doesn't make the mother suffer, and that they're really stupid creatures. Literally right in front of him, yet refuses to see. Well, that's how he makes his money. I guess it's painful to admit how much suffering our casual self-indulgences really cause, it takes effort to change, and we don't really have to make that effort because the animals will continue paying the price in the background, out of sight and out of mind

@@mrdetective1992 I'm a non vegetarian and I think your argument is stupid. There are multiple logical things that you could have said but you are as dumb as those extreme vegans. Mass production of beef requires vast land to raise them and to create food for them + cows cause emission of greenhouse gases which leads to global warming. Instead of producing meat we could produce grains on the land and feed ourselves. It is not as time consuming as raising cattles. On the other hand there are various countries which doesn't have environmental conditions to produce grains. They have to eat meat for their survival.

This is one of the reasons why I’m vegan. Every single baby calf is immediately taken from its mom. The farmers just want milk and cows must give birth every year to produce the amount of milk allowed. If they don’t, they r sent to slaughter. Calves for veal are placed in tiny tiny cages. They can’t move at all. They can lay and get up. That’s all. They don’t want muscles at all. And they r fed very very little so there’s no fat. Chickens are packed so tightly there’s no room at all. Many are trampled to death. Many can’t walk cuz the growth hormones make them grow so fast that their legs break. Then they r trampled. Chickens for eggs r packed into tiny cages with other chickens and the eggs roll down a chute to be collected. They are all packed tightly in the truck to slaughter which leads to 1/4 of them being killed. And the slaughter methods r barbaric. Hanging chickens while alive upside the down and the putting them in water and shocking them. And slaughter methods for larger animals are just as bad. There are free range animals u can purchase the meat if u must have meat.

Too many people are confused. They see cattle in a feed lot for fattening or for a number of reasons and thing that is the only way they ever live. There are the few cases of bad ranchers that care more about profit than healthy cattle and keep the cattle confined but that is not as common as many think.

From “So you think you want a grazing dairy?” “As soon as he “gets it right,” he’ll let you know - it’s a fine-tuning process that never ends.” This shows that allowing dairy cows to graze is a nuanced practice and an exception, not the rule, even for small scale farms. I still think it's heartless that some farms only think of these animals as unfeeling property and I think if farmers wanted to sell milk, cheese at all, they should after the calf is old to be weaned and they should stay with their herd .Being vegan though seems extremely difficult because animal products love to hide and all sorts of products and some vegan foods are really processed.
