Oh gosh...I've been there too. Knowing that my old dog will be gone soon. Try to remember...you gave your fur baby a great life and without you they may not have had that. I'm getting up there in age too and if I can I'll try to foster ...that way I can still have pups in my life and I'm doing the best I can to give them a good life. Fostering is tough because you have to say goodbye...but if any get adopted near me I will offer to pupsit when the family needs me to. Might be a good way for you to have critters in your life without the total commitment...just my thoughts! ❤ you complete stranger...you have a good ❤

I'm sorry for what you're going through. We also have an older dog, and recently lost our 19 year old cat. My husband is devastated. Lucky is fortunate to have an owner who loves him/her so much. Maybe at some point you'll be ready to give another needy dog a chance at a happy life.

@@elisa9833 I was living in Tucson AZ during the late 70's early 80's days while I was on a week camping trip in MT. Lemon, I noticed the most beautiful pure white pup and I mean maybe a week or two old. What brought this to my attention was the heart wrecking crying. I couldn't find it for I'd say 3 hours. Come to find out it was a pure white wolf pup, oh my goodness it she had so much hair and the most beautiful blue eyes. I left it alone but nothing. I even moved my tent and cleaned up, hoping that the mom would return nothing. I was awaked really early before the sun, here's the pup just so lost and weak looking around the camp . I said I've gotta get this pup help, I took her to Tucson Vet and was told that I had to contact the DEC I believe that was the name.. I bottle feed her with baby formula and play pedialyte in a small Tupperware bowl so she could reach it. I come back to Upstate NY and I names her Desiree. For the desert and a ray of light she brought me. She loved living in the high Antarctic mountains of New York State for 26 years. My veterinarian was amazed by the way she was so loveable and she didn't want nothing to do with living inside. Now it gets nasty far as snow and wind and I built her a kennel that she could go into off my barn. Bought a heated water bucket for goats etc, you plug it in and at 40° it would turn on so the water doesn't freeze. She would be sleeping in the yard under the snow that fell overnight. For I had to leave for work during the winter months by 4:30- 5:00 am the latest to be at work by 7 am. This is what I always remember about Desiree soon and I started up my truck, I'd look around the side of the barn. And she would take her time getting up and stretch out. For she grew up to be 6 and a half foot long and just a little bit higher than a German shepherd. When I'd take her a ride this is so true.. She would sit in the passenger side of my truck and so as she seen a bridge she would get down on the floor but she was so big she made sure her head was under my right knee. I want to share that. Lucky is doing better with the walks and them gummies medicine for her hips. I really didn't believe it would work been a week now and I'm impressed. God bless everyone and love ya

So there's a canine delivery system too! Mama knew who to go to! What an awesome guy and undoubtedly other workers or volunteers (there were at least 3 at the rescue - one with the camera). They're all fabulous people and I wish them every blessing.
