Nice recipe, similar to mine, i like a chopped onion in my raw mix, also folks, when mixing raw don't over work the meat cause if you start squishing it thru your fingers you will end up with a dense brick meatloaf like some folks i 've seen(handle like biscuit dough) Also, if & i say if you have leftovers, put in fridge & next day have a meatloaf sammich between white bread & and some mayo, delicious. Courtesy of an old irishman in Kentucky. p.s., a slice of raw onion on that sammich never hurt anybody

I am forever seeking out meatloaf recipes, so I am very thankful for this particular recipe. When I put a ketchup- or tomato-sauce-based glaze on my meatloaf, I always try to incorporate brown sugar in the glaze, so I think that this will wind up being really good! I think that my mom has spoiled me where meatloaf is concerned. She always had a pretty simple meatloaf recipe (which always had plenty of green peppers and onions in it) and though I watched her make it many, many times, I could never seem to make my meatloaf the way she made hers! It’s been over 9 years since she’s passed on and I still try to make my mom’s meatloaf but it just always seems to be missing something...and now, I know what’s missing: a mother’s love.❤️

Gonna try this version....my mom's meatloaf was the best...she used: Onion, green bell pepper, salt, pepper, onion powder, cumin, chili powder, Worcestershire sauce, tomatoe sauce, 1-2 eggs (depending on amt of meat) and saltine crackers. Cumin and chili powder make this meatloaf and you don't need much...just enough for flavor.....and it won't taste like Mexican food either, just good!! Oops, and sometimes we also added some catsup and mustard to the meat. Tammy I love watching you cook, my dad was from Georgia and my mom from Texas and it was always homestyle cooking from the south for us, you cook like we do and I love it!!

I am so glad I found this channel, having been raised right down the road from Polk County, your recipes are so much like what I was brought up on, my stomach is growling and rubbing my back bone just from thinking about these recipes that are very very similar to what I remember from my youth. Sadly mother didn't keep cookbooks other than the ones someone gave her but my wife put together one that we use from time to time and since finding this channel, good old Southern aromas are going to fill the streets in this small Illinois town we are living in now. Thank you so much

Loved this demo, greaT pan too! I see the onion soup mix took care of the onion I would have added. The sauce seems like it would be a touch sweet, but dang I'm going to follow this recipe exactly like you did it and try. Thank you for all you do.🤗

How to pronounce worchestershire? First say Wooster, as in Wooster College, Wooster, Ohio., Massachusetts and all the other Woosters out there. Then say “shire”. So, it’s three syllables: Woost er shire. Love you guys!

@@debbieacosta6645 I just made my 1st meat loaf at the young age of 49. This recipe was delicious. Mine was a little crumbly and I am sure it was because I left that 2nd egg out. I served it with BBQ sauce on the side and Italian green beans. Hubbs was licking the plate. I think the soup mixed in helped to permeate the whole loaf. Imma be keeping that on hand...LOL

@@rosemarquinez1355 We like to use bbq sauce instead of the ketchup for the topping. It already has sugar in it so you can skip the additional sugar. The bbq sauce can be used to change the flavor to your taste.

Then I make ketchup and sugar for the topping too . AND.... You are so right , you got to have mashed potatoes and green beans with meatloaf . Love this video !!!

Felicia, Isn't it funny when we're young and first leave home, we swore we'd never eat another bite of meatloaf or soup beans (KY family of 7), but after being away from home only a short time and returning to visit, we have put in our calls ahead of time asking "Mama, can you make me some soup beans, cornbread and meatloaf?? I'll be home soon!"

My mother used oatmeal, but she specified steel-cut oats. If she couldn't find them, she'd get brown rice, cook it, and let it cool. For the tomato topping, she used Rotel. She also mixed about 1/2 to 3/4 cup olive oil, and sometimes chopped almonds or toasted pine nuts, and either sultanas or chopped dried apricots. Also, after she took the loaf out and saaw all the oil in the pan, she'd put it on the stove on high until the oil started to smoke, then put in between one and one-and-a-half cups of red wine. When the mixture came back to a boil, she'd add cornstarch and whip to make a gravy. I don't know where she learned that, because when my grandmother, her mother, made meatloaf it was very like yours. Which was good, but compared to what mother did I though was rather dull.
