Hey party people! Thanks so much for hanging out with me while I share with you this new holiday hustle! doing all of the last minute things for Christmas 2024! First Christmas for us without our son. He passed at 36 years young. He had an undiagnosed heart condition. We will continue to do the best we can for our grandchildren and our daughters. I know that he would want that.

Im so sorry for your loss. I lost my Brother at that exact age two years ago to a very similar reason. It’s crazy that all these young people are having what is considered to be “older people” issues. I’d like to say it gets easier, but really the holidays just make it so much harder. Time does heal, I promise but there is such a hole that our loved ones fill and a void when they are no longer with us. I will be praying for you ❤ Happy Holidays ❤

Kim thank you so much for talking about Tina. My sister was killed in 1996 and I still miss her with my heart and soul to this day. We just found out that my niece is terminally ill and has only a few months left to live so this was a bitter sweet Christmas knowing this will be her last. Memories are so precious and so are the photos and videos. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you all. 🎁

Kim, a tip on making pie crust…..freeze your sticks of butter, then shred on the box grater. Then you just stir it into the flour/salt, and stir in the water with a fork. No dirty food processor!! Works when making biscuits too. I’m 66 and just figured that one out a few years ago. 😄. I think the food processor makes the dough tough too. Happy New Year party people!!! 🎉🎉

My mom made her pastry in the food processor and it was always very flaky and tender. The type of fat used and the flour used will make a bigger difference. Butter makes a very light, flaky crust, and real pastry flour works better than all purpose. I have yet to try the grater method. Will give it a go!

I use both methods here, and I have no issue with either. Blind baking your crust might help. Keep trying different recipes and just find one that works for you. Once you do, stick with it and never leave it.

I love that you did Tina's cookies and shared with us. I made pinwheels for our Christmas yesterday in honor of my brother...my neice would always ask him to make them. She ate 75% of them and it made my heart happy yet sad. Big hugs to you.

Kim, I’ve shared your struggles with pie crust, here’s the answer, use Paul Hollywoods sweet short crust recipe. It uses more butter which holds the dough together and creates the shortness you are looking for. More water does hold the crust together but it creates toughness. Also, ditch the processor, you need to rub the butter into the flour and let it absorb the butter. You can only achieve this texture but hand. It works every time! You’re welcome…😊

I loved your conversation with Eleanor saying you’re so old, I remember my daughter telling me that when she was twenty. You looked so pretty in your red dress buy a red bra. Your pecan snowballs and we also called them pecan crescent cookies, I don’t use rum. Everyone favorite is my baby pecan tarts with cream cheese dough come out perfect every time. Merry Christmas Kim and Family! 🎄❤️ I am a major pie maker and I have used the Crisco recipe for decades 😩 gosh I’m getting old. The only change I make is I use half the shortening and substitute butter for the other half. It’s dependable and good!

The key to crust so I am told is doing it by hand. You need a special butter cutter thing-a-ma-bob, it is a half moon thing with a handle, and you need to fold it as you roll it. Helps if you are boomer in my family too. Kelly Clarison is funny. Although young Millennial once thought Ray Charles was just the guy from the movie.

Hello Kimberly, just like to say on the 2 ingredients for the peanut butter fudge, it’s equal parts, so good, I usually take the frosting out put it in a bowl, the fill the container with peanut butter, then add that to the bowl, then mic for about a min. then stir, and then again until smooth, then add to a dish, refrigerate, I even do it to just spoons full at a time, if I want a small amount

We always make brown sugar shortbread cookies!! We made the peanut butter blossoms for the first time this year! I started making some of our Christmas cookies just after Thanksgiving and freezing them. It has helped me so much!

Oh my gosh!!! I had the same issue with my pecan pie!!! It would not solidify at all! I finally just gave up on it and thankfully had a back up dessert. That's my go to holiday dessert though so I can't count how many times I have made it, and it almost always turns out great. So weird that it happened to you too!

So glad you made the anise cookies. The snowballs are my favourite, but we call them Russian Tea Cake cookies. Always made with pecans and sprinkled with icing sugar when hot! Delish! Your kids are delightful, and best of all, they seem very kind. They are also very cute! The delight in Wolfgang's voice when he said, "Mummy!"

So, when I make pie crust, I actually use room temperature butter. I feel it works in quicker and is easier to roll out. Once I place it in the pie pan, I put the crust in the freezer or fridge to get cold and then bake. It becomes flaky and tender!
