Suggestion on making the vanilla extract is to make a large batch in appropriate size container to make it easier to shake daily (or as often as possible 😂). Then strain and pour into individual bottles when it is ready to use. Just a suggestion. Love your channel and enjoy every video ❤

@@joansmith6844 they don’t open up, but they will swell to make bean seed extraction easier. But it’s not needed for extraction. You could even just put a small slit in the bean. But it’s not necessary, especially if you are going to strain it. I do a ton of tinctures, extractions, decoction, elixers etc for many herbs and plants. The best thing for vanilla is getting a good quality vodka (80 proof) and time! The longer they sit, the better. Definitely want enough bean to infuse though!

Garlic! :) hi Kim :) I used to cook at a restaurant and they would get those big containers of garlic cloves like you do. They would put them in the food processor with olive oil until it was just enough to kind of make a purée and olive oil would help preserve it for longer, and then they would scoop out spoonfuls of it whenever they needed it and it was this olive oil, garlic, dream, maybe you would like that!?❤

Idea for your garlic. Take the whole bag of garlic and put it in you food processor and chop it up. Use your smallest cookie scoop and put little scoops on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper. Flash freeze, then put the little cubes in the freezer in a zip lock bag doubled so your freezer doesn’t smell like garlic. Then just pull them out as needed and they melt right into you dishes. Best thing I’ve ever done.

Kim, I don't know how you do it. Today we had the fire department visit our family child care. It was so much fun, stress, and excitement for us and our 6 day care children under 4 years of age but I'm so glad it's only once a year. I'm not kidding. Trying to make sure everyone was learning, pics of each child on the truck and with the fire fighters, group pics, plus trying not to forget to give the guys their treats we got them. Oh my goodness I'm ready for a nap. I can't do that because now I have to edit the videos and pics to send to the parents who are waiting to see their babies on the truck. UGH!!!! You are super woman.... you do all of this with such ease and grace. Thank you for the inspiration once again. I can do this, and it will be amazing. Thanks!! Tammy in WV

Tip on your vanilla bottling you don’t wanna scrape your beans because that’s how you continue to just add vodka when you run out and it will replenish and turn again into vanilla extract so if you extract your little seeds, then it reduces the ability to continue to use the beans over and over and then just add a bean every once in a while.

For the vanilla...I have done it a couple times. I have a large bottle that I let sit for at least a year. Then I decant about half into smaller bottles to use for the year and add more vodka to cover the beans again. So I have an ongoing bottle. It has been great! Last year I made a second bottle and used spiced rum instead of vodka. Super excited to pop the top on that one this year. Also, I just slice the bean pod. I don't scrape out the seeds. They come out with all the shaking. Yours looks beautiful and I am sure they will taste amazing! Oh and I don't strain it.

Just enjoying your best life. 🥰

If you have trouble using the whole bag of garlic, take all the peeled garlic and throw it in the food processor and grind it up. You can add a little oil if needed. Then use a small cookie scoop to put scoops of garlic on a lined cookie sheet. Put in freezer. When frozen, remove garlic pucks from the sheet pan to a zip bag and return to freezer. When needed, just remove the number of pucks needed and throw in your dish. I do this since I only cook for 2 most of the time and I hate mincing garlic or cleaning out the garlic press!

So easy: get gold plastic forks, make cake balls in one of those waffle maker cake pop things, get a bowl of white chocolate and put a drop of teal and purple food gel and swirl (don’t mix too much) and just fork the balls into the chocolate, and put on wax paper with the fork sticking out .. add a few seashell sprinkles before they dry.. then display them in a platter of crushed graham cracker crumbs (sand) I hope this makes sense but they were a huge hit and so easy

Hey next time you make some vanilla try using a Spiced Rum. I'm not a drinker but the Spiced Rum gives a great depth to the vanilla. It's what I'm making for gifts too! Love your energy!

Try making vanilla in your instantpot!! It only takes 30 min.I also just cut the beans in half then half again. It made it so you don't have to scrape them. Good luck!! Thanks for your videos!!

I've been making vanilla extract recently, and I never remember to shake the bottles. It turned out just fine!

I love you and your personality! The woman who told you to stop acting like a child is just miserable in her own life. Your happiness and vibe sets my days and helps me be a better mother setting a vibe for my family and having the motivation to get shit done 😊 keep being you!

I made vanilla before I used rum. I was also looking at alcohol-free recipes which definitely seems cheaper using water and sugar. Just bought some vanilla beans. You influenced me to start some Christmas projects

I make my own vanilla because my husband is gluten-free. I just put all the vanilla beans in the big bottle and fill the smaller one when needed.

I'm seriously so grateful I found your channel. You are such an inspiration and you give me motivation to want to cook and organize. You have such a beautiful family. So thank you so much for making my life better these last couple months 💕....Also, I disagree, you don't need to grow up or change in anyway. I think your amazing just the way you are ❤🎉

Ok I’m back, just wanted to say I got an order from thred up using your code years ago and boy did I find the deals! What an ideal partnership for you! 🎉 I just love it! Second, I’m making a crockpot dinner tonight and our favorite is to buy this giant pork carnitas roast from aldi (it’s huge like 3 pounds and already seasoned and costs like $7) from Aldi and we make it with tacos the first night and then eat it again over nachos or in quesadillas or on a salad! Such a crowd pleaser!!!

I feel you were an Australian in a past life. Your dry/sarcastic humour is very Australian "If you're wondering if I washed my hands, no I didn't." Classic!

Your vanilla is now gonna have the seeds all thru it. They say to leave intact so it just gets the flavor out of the beans without all the seeds.

‼DON'T STRAIN THE VANILLA EXTRACT!!! That's the FLAVOR‼ When making Vanilla Extract.... shake 2 times a week (I set an alarm 😂) for 3-6 months! Top it off as you use it! Sometimes I've forgotten at times. But its fine if its an established Vanilla Extract so when you start to see the Vanilla Bean just add more vodka to cover beans! It keeps them from molding! I just made a small 4oz jar of Vanilla Extract with Spiced Rum! Cant wait for that!

If you want to help out your kids’ school be a substitute teacher (when all of you kids are in school, of course). I did. And i loved it. My kids are grown but I still run into kids that give me a hug & say that I was their favorite sub ❤️
