😮hi Kim, I am 68😂 years old. When I went to school, elementary was 1st - 6th grade. Junior high was 7th - 9th grade, and Sr. High was 10th - 12th. Things have changed. My folks always did their best. We knew to take care of our things. I used some of the same things for multiple years. When I bought for my children, I told them take care of the supplies cause I might not be able to afford them again. Just different times I guess 🤷. Love watching and sharing with you, as usual 😊

I get such a giggle when you edit in “APPARENTLY!” clips. The Lululemon story is hilarious. I’ve been on both sides of that customer service situation myself. 😂 when you were showing the shorts you got for Meredith and commented on how short they were compared to Wentworth’s it reminded me of a video I saw on how we sexualize girls from a young age, as evidenced by how short their shorts and skirts are even as babies, toddlers etc. It never really occurred to me until I watched that video and it really tee’d me off when I got to thinking about it! Sale! Sale! Sale! I can’t function! 😂 Oh man, Ponderosa used to be our Friday night out when I was a kid! Chopped steak and fries, with the salad bar!

Hey Kim! Thanks for another interesting and entertaining video! I am an elementary public school teacher in Canada. Our school year is from the Tuesday after Labour Day until the end of June. Our elementary school grades are JK (junior kindergarten) to grade eight. They are separated by 3 divisions. The primary division is JK-grade 3, the junior division is grades 4-6, the intermediate division is grades 7 & 8. We do not usually receive gifts from the children and their families at the beginning of school. We often receive gifts at Christmas and at the end of the school year. Have a great week! Here in southern California, 5th grade is still elementary. That feels so young to have 10/11 year olds apart of middle school. I'm just thinking of the social dynamics of 7th and 8th grade. I can't imagine adding in 5th grade to that. Sixth grade varies by district and schools if they're apart of elementary or middle. I'm in the mindset 6th grade should be apart of elementary too. Also, your editing flashbacks are the BEST!!! My daughter loves you too and calls you "the funny lady in Florida" haha!

Good morning! When my son was in school middle school were grades 6-8 high school 9th and 10th were in one school, 11th and 12th another school. The schools he went to, they were not allowed to have lockers so they had to carry everything they needed every day. I remember the school shopping and school supply lists, I don't miss it lol. My son has always had expensive taste in clothing, let's just say God knew what he was doing by just giving me one child 😂. Love the sweater, it's definitely a whole vibe.

Michigan, elementary is K-5, middle schools is 6-8, and high school is 9-12. (but there are surrounding districts where it is different. this is how it's been for 30+ years or more). AND we had lockers throughout our entire school career.

Great stuff. I can only say people try to get the "helpers" something too. Even if they are a 1:1, they help the teachers a lot! They do A LOT of work for the teachers and help all the kids. So don't forget them too. I always get them a little something.

In our schools Middle School doesn't start until 6th grade. When I was in school Middle School was only 7th and 8th grades. We had a Ponderosa in my town when I was growing up, I loved eating there! I also like Western Sizzler too! I miss those restaurants!

I feel your frustrations on the school shorts! Here in Australia it's the same! I guess it's the designers that make the shorts. But our uniforms section is unisex. So all the sizes are a unisex (mostly "boycut") unless it's a specific item like a dress or the lable has "girls hoodie" or "girls legging". As a mother of very tall girls we get the unisex track pants and shorts. They're more comfortable haha

Im so jealous that you have supply lists! Our district gives us the bare bones lists but says to wait until you get your teacher assignments to see what they actually need, then go shopping. So yes a scramble for mom! We find out their teachers this week...then school starts the 28th! Oh and my daughter is starting 5th, which here is still considered elementary, even though she's going to a new school for it. Grades 5&6 together in one building, 7&8, then 9-12. Its so different from when i grew up lol it was k-8 in one building, then 9-12 in another...

Our city has the traditional elementary (k-5), middle (6-8), and high schools (9-12). However, our school district built a new high school a couple of years ago because we had outgrown ours. So the middle school moved to the old high school and is now only 7th-8th grade, and the old middle school was converted to an intermediate school which is 5th-6th grades, and the elementary is now k-4th grades. We absolutely love it because it's so much easier to get in and out of the schools having less students attending at one time.

I had an Eastpak during all of high school in Germany. My sister had a Jansport. Ours had a real leather bottom though, not the pleather version you showed. But they lasted us during all of high school.

Our school starts at 4th grade for middle school. So my 9year old is starting a new school in a few weeks. We start Aug 30th after our fair comes. Our district buildings are prek-2nd, 3rd-6th, 7/8, freshman, and then HS. We will be converting to pre k in one building, k-5th, 6-8, and then adding freshman back to the regular HS over the next decade as they build new buildings for some things.

I loved it when my kids went to a Catholic school because it was so inexpensive for school clothes!! There was a huge clothing exchange before school started and all year long there was a rack for exchanges. All I had to buy were under clothes, socks, one pair of black shoes, and one pair of non marking sneakers!! As adults they always complain about going to that school!!

Heads up Kim, as a Canadian I know that lululemon will refund you your military discount if it doesn’t apply too. I pretty much only wear lululemon (it started up when I was really into dance as a youth, and I still have items from back then, that still look great and fit!) if the backpack has any issues they have great warranty too. If the zipper breaks, they’ll replace/fix it. If you have leggings and fall and they tear, they’ll mend them, all they ask is to have them freshly washed before they mend.

Our school district used to (and a lot still do) have SIXTH grade as a part of gradeschool! So it would be kinder-6th is gradeschool, 7-9 junior high, 10-12 high school. Now we have pk-5th is gradeschool, 6-8 is MIDDLE school, and 9-12 is highschool.

I live in the Chicagoland area and my daughter’s Jr. High is 6-8th and she’s going to be in 8th grade and her first day is next week August 16th! Good thing in a period kit is extra pair of underwear and a ziplock bag to put the soiled ones in so they don’t throw them out!! My daughter did that! Also a travel size of flushable wipes incase they need extra clean up! I have a period kit for her locker and a little one in her backpack! Also the nurse will have supplies. When my daughter was in elementary school I had a period kit in the nurses office just incase she started there! Thanks Covid I didn’t have to worry about that she was home in 5th grade!

My kids have 4 schools but all on one campus. The school looks like a college campus. It’s gorgeous and it’s huge and we just got new fields and the pool got renovated. The fields were already nice but they made another football/lacrosse/soccer field and I believe it’s all Astro turf. I think the softball/baseball/little league fields are also going to be redone. We love the school. Elementary is pre-k thru 3, then 4/5 is intermediate, 6-8 is middle school and then 9-12.
