Having attended Mamamoo concerts in Japan, Hong Kong, US and Korea I can tell you their Korean concerts are on another level. Bigger stages and sets, live band, more songs, more dancers and more interactions. The song you referred to is Prayer in C is by Lilly & The Prick, more specifically the Robin Schulz remix. That's the version that Mamamoo sampled for Starry Night. There are a few mashups of the two songs on KZbin. While I'm not one of those fans that constantly bash RBW I have to disagree with you regarding how poorly they promoted Mamamoo, specifically after Hip era. Business wise no company with enough money would rely on a group's fans to promote their group. While RBW and Mamamoo's relationship is tight RBW have let Mamamoo and Moomoos down over the last few years. Being the company's biggest group and by far their biggest money earner it's a poor business decision to not support and promote them as they should be.

Regarding costumes; at Nashville there were three women dressed as Solar in the yellow outfit from Honey and a guy who was wearing a white and green tuxedo with a fake mustache and a green to hat shaped like a radish. 😂 It was awesome.

Thank you for the video! Glad to see you are better now. I felt the same way about Park Bom as you did on Queendom; I really sympathized with her on the show. Fun fact, Queendom had that clip of Mamamoo singing a 2NE1 song and Park Bom hearing them and singing along; but what they didn't include in the final cut of the show was that she actually went to their waiting room to sing and dance with them. MMM are huge 2NE1 fans and I believe it might be Hwasa or Wheein who has Bom as one of her idols; someone correct me if I'm wrong!

Re Queendom. AOA debuted in 2012 as an eight member group. Original members included Choa, Jimin, Yuna, Youkyung, Hyejeong, Mina, Seolhyun and Chanmi. Youkyung left the group in 2016, Choa left in 2017 due to mental health reasons, Mina left in 2019 to pursue her acting career and Jimin left in 2020 due to bullying allegations. Yuna, Seolhyun, and Hyejeong left in 2021, 2022 and 2023 respectively after their contracts expired. The group currently consists of only Chanmi so effectively AOA has disbanded. Oh My Girl debuted in 2015. The group is composed of six members. Hyojung, Mimi, YooA, Seunghee, Yubin and Arin. Originally an eight member group, JinE left the group in 2017 due to health issues and Jiho left in 2022. OMG are making a comeback this year. Lovelyz consisted of eight members. Baby Soul, Jiae, Jisoo, Mijoo, Kei, Jin, Sujeong and Yein. The group disbanded on November 2021. Park Bom, Mamamoo and (G)I-dle you already know about.

Thanks, yeah. After experiencing the concert and how everything went, I just had to say something. I think the real disappointment is the lack of understanding in the logistics and financial burden, especially from a growing company, and people have gotten a little too used to the bigger productions from other groups that have a different business model, vision.

@@seattleinsomnia Yeah as you know, apparently my take on the issue is not on the popular side in the community and sometimes people jump down my throat just because it against their beliefs. I do get it though from a fan standpoint but we also gotta look at things from business standpoint as well which I know most people don't like talking about this and all the stuff. Like Mamamoo is their biggest group, they've been around for so long and have gained such well-known reputations. Mamamoo was doing fine with what they're doing but all hell breaks loose and fans started losing their minds even more when RBW decided to allocate and put more focus and resources on their lesser-known groups. There's a saying that goes "don't put all your eggs in one basket" meaning that don't risk everything on the success of one thing. But yeah then again, apparently fans only look from their fan perspective and not from a business side. They paint RBW as this "evil/horrible" company that abandoned Mamamoo and treated them poorly. This is exactly why I said in our last conversations that it's really important to notice that idolatry sometimes distracts people from thinking about the business side of the industry. Man..moomoos used to be a peaceful fandom imo but now as the group is getting bigger and bigger, the fandom is also getting more overprotective and demanding af. So I'm very grateful to see a reasonable fan like you who's not jumping on this hate train. Thing is, fans oftentimes forgot that there's a lot of things happening behind the scenes that they're not privy to but still acting like they know everything. Honestly, it's crazy that people are able to come online, spew their assumptions/allegations and presented as if they're facts.

Thanks for your honest opinions about RBW and Mamamoo! You're seriously the only reactor who I've watched who's touched on it. I agree wholy with your thoughts. We aren't privy to a lot of business decisions, so simply explaining it away as incompetence is really such a lazy take. We should try to make sense of it by seeing from their point of view and not just throw vitriol and hate at what we don't understand. Moomoos used to be the most chill and peaceful fandom. As the fandom grew it slowly got more demanding, possessive, overprotective. I've never followed any musical artist before so I don't know if it happens to every fandom. It often feels unhealthy because artists need their fans support and so can't be telling them off. And the other side, fans think the world of the artists who can do no wrong and spew hatred on everyone else. Korean-moos and International moos have clashed. Recently even other RBW group(s) have gotten snide remarks. Social media makes content accessible but also given voice and attention to trollish behaviour. As an old moo I even wonder what do the members think when they see posts like these. Just because they thank us for loving them doesn't give fans free reign to abuse other people. It's everything Mamamoo stands against and to have their fans do it it's horrible.
@seattleinsomnia

There is so much in the logistics of it, and everyone seems to think that because they have grown a little that they are paying more attention to the newer groups over Mamamoo and treating them poorly. I just don't see it. Yes, I am a new MooMoo, but the amount of effort and energy the ladies had at the concert and their energy and how they were on their 9th anniversary vid and how they were looking forward to their 10th. I honestly think people are chasing negativity and ghosts. Mamamoo will never be a Red Velvet or BlackPink. I don't think they want to be. They seem to be very happy with what they have, making music that entertains people, and having a fan base that appreciates them. Sure, they want to make money and live comfortably, who doesn't, but I don't think they are trying to go over the top with productions like SM or YGE.

@@seattleinsomnia Yup, I agree Mamamoo is finding their own place in this busy hectic competitive industry. Many a times they've expressed on how they can carry on. (of course fans like to then assume they mean how to carry on when their company is against them). I do think they are slowly finding their way forwards which include career ups and downs, but nothing that fans should read too much in. I seriously don't get some fans. or many fans. Do they get a high from being dramatic, amplifying a simple expression by x100. Mamamoo are human too, they're also working adults like many of us. Do we not have to fight our own battles or do they like friends to send threatening messages to their workplaces. Sheesh.

I’m sorry but I will fully disagree with you regarding their company strategic moves in the business. Because what I have seen is 0 effort for that company. Even posting at any social media which I believe will not loss a lot of their budget or even just translating their post to english since it is a US concert was never been done. We know that RBW is capable of promoting as we have seen with their other group. Moomoo started to step up and do promotions when they realized that RBW will not do anything to promote the girls. Why would a capable company will rely on fanbases to promote the girls? If they really want it to be successful and really want to earn a lot they will promote their biggest earner. It will become more successful if only they done their part. Sorry if this post is a bit rude but I just want to express what I have seen happened. PS, as for the reason why they still signed for the company if they are really bad company. My opinion is they still look up and respect the company. They also have artistic freedom and can do what they want. Also, one of the factor is copyright issue since almost all of their songs was produce by RBW. Moomoos just only want the best for the girls.

@@muzza1967 I'm also one of the 1%'ers, a Wheein bias and an Aussie! I don't think Mamamoo will be coming to Oz that's why I've flown to see them in Hong Kong, Japan and US plus I saw them at Kpop Flex in Germany last May. The Oakland and LA concerts were great but their Korean concerts are next level because they have a live band on stage, with more songs and those concerts last much longer (3-4 hours) than any of the overseas concerts.

Old guy supremacy! 57 here, OT4 and American. I didn't like any new music from about 1990 until 2018 when I discovered K-Pop girl groups could rock. I like music from the 1930s, 40s, 50s, and 80s, and now K-Pop from about 2010 to the present. (Uhm Jung Hwa had two good hits way back in 1998! Invitation and Poison.)

Glad you're better and had such a great experience at the concert. You lost me when you started praising RBW for not doing their job as a smart strategic move but I'm not going to argue with you and count the ways they've failed Mamamoo over the years. If you want to feel good about RBW that's fine by me. The opening song is called 1, 2, 3 Eoi! Eoi is pronounced Oy. 1, 2, 3 Eoi! is their team chant and you'll see them do it before going on stage in behind the scenes videos on MMM-TV. Their upcoming anniversary on June 19 has nothing to do with their contracts. Hwasa's contract expires at the end of this month, Wheein's expires at the end of the year, and Solar & Moonbyul are signed through June 2024. Though some people think Mamamoo will disband when Wheein's contract expires I don't see any reason to believe they won't all sign extensions to continue as Mamamoo regardless of whether they stay with RBW or move elsewhere for their solo work. When Wheein moved to TheL1ve she signed a limited extension with RBW to do two group albums with promotions and to participate in all MMM concerts with no time limit. I expect Hwasa will leave RBW for her solo work and sign a similar extension with RBW to do a specific number of albums with Mamamoo.

Here it comes again - "the pure evil agency". I'm glad when people have enjoyed the concerts and now are expressing their feelings and thoughts. But also feel sorry every time anyone is dragged in this drama or even can be disregarded in case their opinion on the company is different.
@seattleinsomnia
@seattleinsomnia Жыл бұрын
@foreverskotom I am not worried. If people are really upset that I am praising a company that I feel is actually doing a good job, they can be upset, because they will never be an SM or YGE, and I don't think they want to be. I honestly think that was never their intent to begin with. When I look at the beginning and have learned who they brought in to help promote them in the beginning, most of these people were famous musicians, not idols. Now, for their newer groups like Purple Kiss and Oneus, Mamamoo has definitely mentored them, and they fit more of the current Kpop "model."
@olicooper1281

I do not think they are an evil agency at all but I do not like them and I have my reasons for that. I have been following the girls for a long time, not just their music releases but even every updates on fancafe, i am aware of the things they said about the company and how the company did them wrong as the years passed by. As a fan of the girls I think I have the right to feel frustrated and not like someone who doesn't treat them right. I am in no way telling anyone to not like the company like I do, I just simply said that I wasn't in the mood to watch something that wouldn't make me feel good.

The comments and criticisms you read about Mamamoo online when the US tour venues were posted came from non fans, not Moomoos. However the concerts were not "sold out", most were what we in the industry call "full house". Had RBW promoted Mamamoo better and booked larger venues they would have sold even more tickets. And don't get me started on the merchandise offered at the venues. Very few choices, plain designs on the clothing and overpriced. Lack of Moobongs (also double the normal price) and only two signed albums WAW and Act 1, Scene 1 with less than 10 of each available at each venue.

Here's my take I feel like a lot of these fans have the mindset that if something didn't fit to "their own standards" then everything is the company's fault. They'll be like "this song needs to go viral, I blame RBW for their incompetent and doing such bad promotions". Like seriously?? I mean the company is already doing their jobs to promote the group, why not blame the general public for not appreciating good music? Just because it didn't fit to your standard doesn't mean that they're doing horrible jobs. Yeah I bet that never crossed their minds. I personally think RBW is a good company, way better than most companies to my knowledge. Now of course we can't deny that they also do have some flaws but so do every company out there as well. No company is perfect. But apparently fans like to victimize themselves and paint RBW as the worst company at promoting their groups. Now that with Hwasa not extended her contract with RBW anymore, fans be cooking some conspiracy theories and putting words into her mouth just like what they did with Wheein when she left the company. Then again blaming the company is always the easiest route for them, just saying.
@seattleinsomnia
@seattleinsomnia Жыл бұрын
Yeah, I think it boils down to the fact that because Mamamoo (in my opinion and my taste of music) is better than most of the other 3rd Gen and up and coming 4th gen groups, yet those groups have to promote and are seen everywhere (BP, Twice, Baby Monster, insert another GG here) they have more YT and IG followers than Mamamoo, RBW has failed them. I also agree that there are probably some things they could have done, especially with adding more language subs in their videos, etc but I don't think they thought they would actually go global like they did. So it wasn't a priority, and didn't really network with international agencies. They stuck in the lane they knew best and that was close to home. Despite all of that they still broke records and filled arenas here in the US. Their name alone is all that is really needed because their talent is what has been their best promotion, not gimmicks. As far as Wheein and Whasa changing companies, RBW is focusing on their newer groups, and I think Wheein and Hwasa want to expand beyond what RBW is willing to offer, not out of malice but as a business. Oneus and Purple Kiss are growing in popularity and are going with themes which appeal to their target audiences. Korean groups seem to have a shelf life, which as an American is crazy to me because my Trifecta group's (Tool, APC, and Puscifer) members have been in the industry for longer than Mamamoo have been alive. The girls have really just come into their voices and identity and have plenty of more years to produce top tier music. I do think that once the group contract is up there will be a new contract with the 4 and they will continue as a group.

@@seattleinsomnia Yeah but that's the thing tho, there's a priviledge of Big 3 or some even said Big 4 now including HYBE which they can pretty much easily debut a new group with a MASSIVE built-in fanbase from the get go. So imo it's kinda an unfair ecosystem but yeah it's what it's. Also agree with Kpop groups have a shelf life. That's why there isn't much of 2nd gen female groups left in the industry (heck even some of 3rd gen have disbanded now) cause there are so many new rookie groups debuting each year and they're slowly going to replace these older/previous gen. It's really a tough competition especially if you have to compete against big name artists from big labels.

@dehuntr9908 I think Mamamoo has a big enough fan base that the MooMoos are going anywhere unless they disband. They could change labels and even take a new group name, and we would follow them. Mamamoo (in my opinion) is the best K-pop group. There is no other group even close to their vocal talent. Entertainment value there are other groups sure, BP, Dreamcatcher, G-idle, Red Velvet, insert random boy group that I don't follow, and that is not a dis on these groups in any way. Mamamoo is just that good. I equate them to legends like TLC, Destiny's Child, Spice Girls, etc, that are Iconic from when I was growing up.
