Like it mate! Nice job. I'm about to do exactly this to my '04 TD42T with RE4 auto in Nov once I'm back from Queensland. Definitely saving this video for reference and looking forward to seeing how she tunes up!

bought a mamba 2863 ball bearing turbo fitted this up about 6 weeks ago i found a couple of issues the coolant line to the block. The banjo was the wrong size and i also cut and welded a barb on the end of the original oil drain pipe found the hose supplied would kink a little and the wastegate is to unpredictable to set i ended putting the original one on it seems to have a bigger spring fitted with boost controller

Why did you opt not to water cool the turbo? My 16g is out now wondering if I should plumb the water while I’m here or just leave it oil only
@house-ofhoon Жыл бұрын
To be honest, it was just more work, more complexity, more things to go wrong and I didn't have the fittings that I needed for it anyways. I just make sure to let the car idle for a minute after driving it

Hey mate was just wondering what you used to plug up the water cooler lines on the actual motor itself? Am currently changing over to the mamba at the moment and it is only oil cooled. Cheers
@house-ofhoon2 жыл бұрын
Hey mate. Mine is a td42ti and doesn't have a water cooled ht18, so I did not have to plug up any water lines on the motor side.

@@house-ofhoon it will surprise you the difference. I had to rebuild mine after learning a hard lesson of over 20 pound of towing they recommend head studs I was running 36 and lifted the lid clean off the engine while towing. I’m getting about 20 less horsepower then I was running 36psi now due to a better build set up. Will be great to see the update videos keep up the great work

I'm liking this channel mate! Keep it up! I'm running an older style Garrett 2871r on my GU with a 12mm JP pump and a HPD tmic, at 155kW/210hp and 564Nm the Garrett is starting to leak from the rear seal and I'm due for an upgrade anyhow but can't justify the price of a UFI just yet!

How does the liquid thread sealant work compared to traditional Teflon tape?
@house-ofhoon3 жыл бұрын
Great question! The liquid thread sealant fills all of the gaps in the threads and also dries, creating a better seal than Teflon tape

Hey mate, just letting you know from previous experience that the turbo you have (11 blade compressor wheel mamba 18g 6cm) and they are quite hard to tune. I changed it to a 6 on 6 blade, same thing mamba 18g 6cm rear housing and my egts dropped 100 degrees and made boost alot earlier. Alot better to drive and safer

@house-ofhoon3 жыл бұрын
Cheers. However, there is no point using a turbo that is designed for the top end when your keeping the factory 11mm pump and will run out of fuel long before a 8cm rear would be useful
@melnickharris11773 жыл бұрын
@@house-ofhoon I had the 11mm pump 8cm worked a treat 6 cm would rev out to quick I ended up going mamba 2867r it shit over the td05 the bearing in the td05 bind up

I don't get you 4x4 guys with turbos... turbos are for F1 cars that are running at high speeds consistently... hardly useful for a vehicle on trails in low range... Should be a supercharger for low end power without turbo lag... put the turbo on your forklift or powerboat... where it operates at capacity...
@house-ofhoon3 жыл бұрын
The main reason is cost. It's significantly cheaper to buy a new turbo than a new supercharger. Also, my engine came turbo'd from the factory, so the task of simply swapping the turbo to a new one is much simpler than swapping to a supercharger.

@@house-ofhoon might be a good video to do a comparison for 4x4... it could pay for itself...

lol its a turbo diesel, they make torque from near idle and in a 4x4 with low range its no issue
