You touched upon a lot of interesting points and gave me a lot to think about. I only wish you'd talked more about the Mamiya 645 lenses for video, and your use of a speed booster. You only mentioned the speed booster once, in passing, and didn't even mention the brand. However, it was a helpful video. Thanks.

Appreciate it! Yeah I had a lot of ground I wanted to cover and ended up not getting deep into each topic. I generally take notes on comments to do follow ups on, currently on a contracted job that has me busy through the end of the year, will likely work on a video in January 🤘🏼

Hey man loved the video, and I appreciate how much you expanded on the topic. Don't let nay sayers and people who've never turned a camera on and filmed themselves put you down. Keep up the great work!

Not sure why so much negativity here. Loved the content and info. Just subbed.

Clicked on a video to learn about shooting video with Mamiya 645 lenses. Got a video about literally everything except the lenses in question. Seriously. For someone who talks about telling stories, you should apply that to your own content. This video was in desperate need of a script, and to stay on-topic.

Same. I came here looking to find out about the Mamiya lenses and I love the video insights but wanted some lens info/content.

This is more like a monologues podcast about your last weekend. I like your idea but it too many different topics in 1 videoI didn't even know that real topic was about dehancer........XDXD

Ot looks like you have no idea about focal lengths, depth of field etc. But you try to educate others.

shooting on the 645 lenses is no different than any other lens with a similar FOV and relative stop. for example, the Mamiya Sekor C 45mm f2.8 looks the same as a 31mm lens at T2 on ff and 21mm at T1.3 on Super 35. You try articulate this by talking about the physical size of the capture medium but also go on to make a counterpoint to your argument in the same breath. The 'medium format look' you're talking about is largely snake oil in this instance because you are simply reducing the projection of these lenses to your relative capture area - they are beautiful lenses though! Thank you for sharing your thoughts on here - I enjoy these sorts of ramblings a lot and know how much effort goes into making these.

No, there's a definite difference in depth compression between FF and MedF. It's my main consideration for focal lengths when I film, how much compression I want a shot to have. A high compression wide angle is a very unique look.

@@VincenteArt this simply isn’t true. ‘a = 2 * arctan(.5 * F / f) Where a is the Angle Of View, F is the film-back size and f is the focal length (with F and f in the same units). So, (for example) an 18mm lens on a super-35mm-size film-back (which is 24.0mm across the gate) has an Angle Of View of 67.4º. To get that same 67.4º Angle Of View on an IMAX 15-perf 65mm camera (with a 69.6mm film-back), you’d need a 52.2mm lens. They haven’t made a 52.2mm lens for IMAX, but luckily they have made a 50mm. And since we’re talking about re-drawing frame lines to change the film-back size, let’s just redraw the IMAX frame lines a little: from 69.6mm to 66.7mm, because we can do the same math the other way round and find that a 66.7mm film back is the size for which a 50mm lens yields our 67.4º Angle Of View.’ taken from Steve Yedlin’s study on his website. I can highly recommend his writings and practical examples on the matter. There is a lot of amazing material by David Mullen on the cinematography.com forum too if you care to search for it.

@@deonvnzl you're totally right and it makes how you're missing the point even worse! if we compare the two images, the one with the 67.4º using 18mm on s35 with the one with 67.4º from 50mm on IMAX, the subject won't look the same because 18mm and 50mm see differently and that is what everyone is talking about not the angle of view but keep going.

Too much rambling. The majority of this video is not focusing on the title/subject. Just constructive criticism. The lack of focus makes this just noise.
@michaelsingJiuJitsu5 ай бұрын
What a waste of time, find another video he talks about everything except what the title is about.
@gundarsmiks48894 ай бұрын
Put the Mamiya in the title... And then dont even talk about that lens in the video :D What the hell is in this mans head ??? At least change the title. Anything in the video had nothing to do with Mamiya!
