Back when this song came out if you requested it to be played on the pa in the local Boys Club you would get your butt kicked. Only Deep Purple Black Sabbath and Led Zep filled the pa. Now as a 62 year old I can appreciate the structure of the song. I just can’t let my childhood friends know. Thanks for the upload

I learned this awhile back. Such a fun song to play. Sometimes it’s just fun to hold it down steadily hitting those 8th notes.

Yes! I picked this too as a hell-fun song on bass. Even when all other elements are kinda softy in a ..softy kinda song (Not-that-there's-anything-wrong-with-that) the bass still kicks ass - so beefy, it dominates.

That's very cool. It happened a bit in reverse for me. I started out with Kiss, Black Sabbath, Rush, and then a bunch of progressive stuff. It was only until much more recently that I found an appreciation for ABBA and a lot of other "Pop" music as well. I really do love ABBA.
@Twobarpsi Жыл бұрын
ABBA puts me in a time machine, back to when music was pure and respectable. Those women's voices sound so good together, it's almost as if their singing is the equivalent of someone running an ice cube up and down my back! No computers or plugins here, just pure talent! Speaking of which, excellent playing and articulation. I enjoyed your hammer on slides 0:54 in the pre chorus (?), along with the pumping verse groove 🤘!!

You bet! When I first listened to the song I didn't think there was much to it. As I listened more closely, all of the subtleties came to light - the staccato, the muting, the slide-ups/hammer-ons... really give life to the bass-line.

This cover hit the spot. I've been on the biggest ABBA binge this year listening and relistening to all their albums and also have been revisting your ABBA covers through out the year. As always you did amazing! You really nail those slightly muted staccato 8th notes in the verses, they're so smooth sounding. Glad you had fun seeing the rockettes! Sounded like chaos the first time, glad it was a much more pleasant experience this time around.

Good Job! I think I told you a little while back that I saw an outstanding Abba tribute (from Sweden) touring the US currently and Mike Watson is actually touring with them. Very cool to see him play these songs he originally recorded.

Thank you! Yes, I really need to check one of these tribute bands out, but it's hard to decide which one. I don't think the one with Mike Watson has come this way.

Great song, and well played. I learned this to play and sing in a cover band in the early 2000s. I like how you have to mute each 8th note to help the rhythm "pump".

Thank you Sam! They were incredible basses. I had a bass shipped from England and got it in a few days. I think you'd be alright if you were buying from a reputable dealer, but there are still a lot of things that could go wrong. Set an alert of Reverb and be ready to strike when something comes up for sale in the US. That's what I did. Great deals still do pop up, but they go quick.

Cool! Thanks, it was a great bass (I think they were the two best built basses that I owned). Their voices were just a bit too meek for me. It's doubtful that I'll get another because I got both of these for really great prices and I doubt deals like that will come around again.

I’m primarily a rock and metal guy and I wouldn’t have described myself as an ABBA fan (though I never outright disliked their music) until I learned to play Lay All Your Love on Me purely by accident while I was using Rocksmith videos on KZbin to learn songs when I was starting to play bass. They have had fantastic bass players and they’re great songs for practicing octaves on, particularly Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! I’m not sure if you take requests but I’ve been listening to a lot of David Crosby recently and I was wondering if you could do Laughing from the If I Could Only Remember My Name album?
