When this 93-year-old man started working at a local supermarket, he caused a lot of confusion. And the man who was confused the most was the supermarket’s manager. In this life there are managers that know how to manage and make a success of their job, and others that let the position go straight to their heads. Good to learn which is the most successful way forward of the two.

We have all seen managers like Matt. When someone can belittle a teenager in front of customers they have no compassion and simply need a job with no interaction with other people. Matt may have temporarily "acted" like he changed but those people DO NOT CHANGE! It was a mistake for the old man to employ him initially and an even bigger mistake to promote him - and a HUGE mistake to keep him after he proved to be lacking morals, humanity and compassion.

Our local post office, yes, the great and highly inefficient garbage called the USPS, had a woman that used to work there that was a holy terror for all of the employees under her and many of the customers couldn't stand her, either. No amount of complaining would make her change and later we found out that she was sleeping with one of her supervisors who was covering for her so she felt she could do just about anything she wanted to do and nothing could be done about it. Then she stepped over the line by physically assaulting a customer. That was the final straw and the customer wasn't taking it. Shortly afterwards this beast of a woman was gone and her supervisor couldn't help her. She was transferred to a smaller post office in the system away from the area since, being a union employee, it would have taken an act of Congress, or even God Himself to fire her! Things have really been so much nicer with her gone!

The main reason it has such tawdry production values, is because this video's actual purpose is merely to generate view counts, so higher ad rates can be charged. NOTICE TO KZbin MANAGEMENT: Dog gone it, I hate these videos where the subtitles are filled with words that don't match the person "reading" the script or where the subtitles don't match the action. There are too many words misspelled, and too many words that aren't even used by the narrator/actors. Aren't there any humans on staff that can fix the mistakes in the narration? I keep seeing minor amounts of mistakes in the subtitles in other KZbin videos, but the total number of mistakes (spelling and word usage) in this video is way off the charts. I don't really know who is at fault here, but the quality of what I see is very low for a large American company. KZbin, you should be ashamed of what is being done.

I had a young store manager like this, that hired me when I was in my late 60's. I never saw such an overbearing tyrant. Just because you run a business, does not mean that it or you are important enough that you can freely abuse people. Many complaints, people getting fired or screwed over for minor stuff, people quitting, the occasional woman employee crying. I eventually walked out myself. Unfortunately there was no 93 year old founder for that place to fire him, and oh, believe me, I would have loved to watch.

Great Story!! Todays younger generation can learn alot from an old timer. Most importantly, the value of compassion. Being a Manager is a stressful job, however, a bad manager can sink a company faster than a slow worker, 100%. I have quit 2 jobs in my career as a Certified SUrgical Technologist, and both times were due to management, the first time was the manager was alot like Matt, the second time was because the manager played favorites and would give the cool cases to his "friends" and the horrible cases (usually doctor related) to the few of us the manager did not like. The second manager also let those "friends" sit around waiting for that 3 o'clock bell when there was still plenty of work to be done. I have found out over the years, that both these places still have the same manager, but a 100% overturn on employees. Nobody I worked with at either location still works there. Listen up youngsters, be careful who you treat wrong, it could be a Charles.

I do not care what people say otherwise. This is a story that really has so much meaning and yes it does happen. Matt was like a bully. Just like a bully, there is someone who will teach the bully respect and it does not have to get physical. Matt thought he had hired someone and was too quick to judge and started to bully who he thought was an employee who was not following Matt's strict management. There were complaints and it had gotten to a level that it would end up losing customers at a rate the business would not be selling much and ultimately close. Just like a bully preying on the weak until the bully had met his prey that was too much than the bully can chew on. Matt was so shocked to find out who the employee was. The employee was the boss above management. In other words, Matt went from bullying to oh...f*** I am screwed...or so he thinks. I expected the CEO to say you fired in all caps and exclamation marks. Instead, the CEO did something way better. Not only did the CEO give Matt a chance to redeem himself for being a bully, but the CEO also teaches him the value of respect by demoting him to the lowest job level which is just like a bully who had coward down and asked for a chance to redeem himself or herself and given the chance to do so by volunteering to do what will teach the bully a lesson on respect without resorting to violence even if it meant the bully will experience karma and getting back what he or she had done from bullying. Matt accepted the lowest job as a way for him to redeem himself, learn the value of respect and earn respect. Then, Matt got his old job back with a lesson on respect and had redeemed himself. Victims really want to do something to the bullies but there is always that prey the bully does not know who he or she had picked which is way more than the bully can chew on. Not all bullies respond the same when confronting someone metaphorically bigger. Some bullies have the gall to try to do the same to their prey which is more than the bully can take or even physically challenge their bigger prey. Some bullies run away like cowards. Some bullies cower and ask for a chance to redeem himself or herself. Not all victims of bullies seek revenge. All it takes is for the bully to find a bigger prey to show how much the bully has taken more than he or she can take. Yes, there will be humiliation when everybody sees the bully trying to take on a bigger prey and lose. Some bullies will get more upset. Some will start crying. Some will run away scared. Some will ask for a chance for redemption. Morale of the story is bullies will one day pick on a bigger prey and regret it even after trying to challenge his or her bigger prey and a lesson on respect is way better than revenge.

Second, any new hire would have accompanying paperwork, corporate doesn't just send random 93 year olds to a store. Third, if this guy was working 40 hours a week as a stocker, who is handling the CEO duties? This entire video is the biggest bunch of bullshit I've ever seen.

I understand the workings of the story but should be known and said if it’s true and what company . A similar story true with a known actor also a similar story of a close elderly friend that worked at a company for many years and he was a part owner .

I do find only one error in this video. In the wording at the bottom of the screen at 12:09 and that is the wording says he had 20 complaints at corporate while the narrator said he had zero complaints at corporate. But we all make mistakes. For me, if I was the CEO of the grocery store chain, I would have trouble believing what the young manager said when he said he would do better. Now, don't get me wrong. I like both young and old people. What the manager did was a stupid thing. When you are managing a grocery store, you are for sure not managing American Idol, thinking you can go sneaking around and imposing upper age limits. When you advertise for a worker and hire a worker, you don't dare look for how old the worker is. You look for the talent, and that's all.

How to turn a 3-5 min. video into a 13+ min video. I HATE gratuitous bullshit in a video simply to make it longer!
