For numerous surgeons, amputations are a defeat and they will never accept an amputation request - even in case of illness or painful problems.

Why not just use a wheelchair? I’m an L4/5 incomplete paraplegic (I use my braces a lot as well but primarily use my wheelchair for the most part, especially outside of my house)

Can't he use a wheelchair instead of crutches? Maybe that way, his knees would not bear the weight of his upper body and they would dislocate less...
