In the 80's when I was a 14 year old girl I was sexually assaulted in a movie theater and I was so scared I froze. My friend was also terrified and she later said she was too afraid to move to get help. I'm so glad people talk about this openly nowadays. Nobody deserves this

About 10 years after the movie theater "incident" I was pinched on my bottom and rubbed his bulge against me 🤮!!!! I reacted by screaming and punching the guy. He ran away so quickly. LOL!!! I learned my lesson from the 1st assault and it felt great to be empowered. Again, thanks for your support

Well like I say to my younger cousin always travel in groups always carry a protective devise on you. My cousin: then said what do you mean devise?. I replied: what I fucking mean is this home made taser now you have all the fun of subduing and leaving your attacker in a pile of their own piss. Well she did use it and it turns out it put her attacker in hospital. I was charged for giving a minor a deadly weapon I appeared in court and I said I’m not going to apologies for giving my family members a means of defence the judge said because I show no remorse I am to serve 2 year sentence which in the end was only like what fucking 3 months I also added to the judge can I get my taser back I’m feeling rape vibes happening if I go to prison lol

This kind of stuff is really scary. I still remember being scared about my first sexual harassment encounter. I was 12 years old at gymnastics class and one of the father's Just kept smirking and watching me do my stretching routine which already made me uncomfortable. Then he tried asking me if i wanted to sit in his car in the middle of break time. My mom taught me about sex, predators, birth and all that stuff when i was around 6 years old so thankfully i was already highly aware of what he was trying to do. I told one of the male coaches and he forced the dad to leave the building and wait in his car for his child to finish class.

it's so fucked up how basically every woman has had these encounters. I don't know anyone who hasn't at least had creepy comments directed at them as a kid and the majority didn't stop there. If they have proof and witnesses it happened, he's done. If they don't, they'll still look into it, but if they can't find anything, he's free, but even then, there's still a lot of false reports that get people, pretty much always men, sent to prison. So I wouldn't really say it's in his favour, especially with that many witnesses. What if he really hasn't done anything and those girls and the guy just lied about it? I doubt they did, but he could still go to prison even if he didn't because the courts can be biased.

Exactly! As soon as he said it, I thought "yeah, you did it". Most people, if innocent, would be mortified at the accusations and would be trying hard to clear their name. They wouldn't be making threats, especially when they're being treated fairly, despite being accused of a disgraceful crime. Everything about him was shifty. Even at the beach, most people need *something* so they can get home, or get a drink, or for emergencies, etc, and there are safe places you can leave these things. People will call you a victim blamer if you shift the blame onto the female victim for withholding their legal reports, without any understanding of how effective the legal system in their country is to victims of sexual related crimes; whether they're in a safe environment to report the crime or not; are they going through shock and trauma caused by their perpetrator which hinders their respond. Additionally, it doesn't always work out beautifully like this, the legal process for cases like this and more serious ones is long and painful; even for the women who made it to the end of the road, it's not guaranteed that they'll receive their justice! And I think you know this, you understand how it really is! But you're just looking for an excuse to stir things up as well as an emotional pass for the next time you confronted a woman instead of her attacker because "why didn't she report it?".🙂

I'm 38 now but I can think back to so many times in my childhood and as a young pre-teen/teen where I felt extremely uncomfortable around a man but I either went along with it or tried to make it seem like it was no big deal, laughed nervously, that kind of thing, when it was not OK. As women we are taught from a young age to go with the flow, don't rock the boat, smile and be cooperative and friendly. Be polite at the expense of your feelings. We were taught to not take up space or be loud or have strong opinions, and because of these sorts of things so many of us grew up to allow awful situations to happen because we didn't want to seem RUDE, or cold, or bitchy. I think you can be taught politeness as a cover for steel. I think that's how my parents taught me. I can be naturally very loud, outspoken and it was important for me to learn how to reign that in and listen to others. But when it comes to justice and safety, I try to use my loudness and boldness not just for me but for others. It’s really disgusting and unsettling, that someone would think that’s ok. But it unfortunately happens everywhere. I remember volunteering at school fundraiser at the local park. It's disgusting how there's actually people that do this. Back when I went to public school (no this is not at the beach but it's still pretty close to the topic of the video) there were boys who kept touching me. Touchy touching. They never apologized and the punishments were barley anything. And there were a lot of pervy kids. Always climbing over bathroom stalls and peeking. Another at a pool, when I was changing, a family was walking through the lady's changing room, and they boys of the group were staring through the cracks of the stall doors as they walked by. 😓 I wish I was braver back then.

I'm relieved someone stood up. And people believed and protected. I've been sexually harrassed when I was like 6 or 7. Or maybe younger. Together w/ 2 of my girl neighbours back then. I think my mom had a feeling something like that was happening but cannot confirm. And I was lying too. Then the surprising thing is, I forgot about all of it until I reached highschool. I like that you added a note for parents/guardians toward the end. One would assume that they would instantly know when harm is being brought to their child. My mother was incredibly protective of my sister and I about it because at a young age, she had an uncle who’d molest her. Her parents never suspected a thing and would send her each Saturday to sell him cheese my grandmother would make. When my mother was busy, they’d sent my aunt who was about four years older than her. The event went on for a few years and when my mother brought herself to bring a pocket knife with her with the intention of killing him on the designated Saturday- he died on Friday in a car crash. My mother mourned the accident, not because it killed him but because her cousin died in the event as well. When her parents scolded her for her lack of mourning over her uncle, she snapped and exposed what he had been doing. When the family retorted with lack of trust, my aunt broke down and confessed that the man had been doing the same to her. She made sure to always lecture us on the limits others should have and made us know that it was not okay if someone made us feel uncomfortable within such manner. My father never had a good relationship with my mother, always just driven by his needs which he always excused as part of him being a man. He often tried touching her when she did not want to be touched, even when she was asleep but my mother pushed through it. When he started trying to touch me, she instantly kicked him out and filed for divorce. The only reason why she evaded leaving him when he tormented her was because she had fear of my sibling and I not having a father figure, but with that act of his, she determined he was no father at all. It is surprising, the thing that struck to me about your story was that you forgot about it for a while. It is very similar in my case too. I had originally blamed It on me being a forgetful person, but for a period of time I had really forgotten of the event. The sentiments of anger remained but the actions he had delivered to me vanished almost entirely

Same, what happened to me would have been traumatizing if I were older at that time (by three boys of the same age). We were maybe 5-6? Thank goodness their mother came, she sent me home and I think punished the three of them because she was yelling when I left.
