@@getin3949Yeah, I thought the fact "suites" is pronounced like "sweets" was common knowledge? Well, perhaps not, and mispronunciation can be regional, I've learned. I really wish I could _not_ be bothered by it. Sadly, my siblings, who were in their early teens when I was born, were correcting my speech pretty much as soon as I started saying "Mama!" ("No, it's MAH-mah, not mah-MAH!" or so my mom said) so I think I'm a little too sensitive about pronounciation, LOL!😅

@@joey-q1c It usually takes about 2 years for most cases. What happens is, you file your claim, it gets reviewed by someone sitting behind a desk. They deny you, then you can get an attorney or represent yourself. Your case is heard in court with evidence, expert witness testimony etc. But, when my husband's claim was denied, he submitted sufficient additional information and it was granted right away.

The appearance fee as stated by Judge Judy and the show was a couple of hundred dollars around $250, it can go up a bit if it's a long case. They also pay the travel, accommodation, and food & drink. The $5,000 is the limit she can award, not the appearance fee.

Everyone who's been on the show has said it's $250 or $300. People saying it's $5000 are just making that up because one time Judge Judy dealt with an eBay scammer and awarded the plaintiff $5000 instead of $750 and people said "Maybe that means the defendant doesn't get any appearance fee," but it really was just because she felt bad for the plaintiff being blatantly scammed.

Methinks that was a one time lump sum, not a monthly benefit. Most disability monthly payments I’ve seen on JJ are between 600 and 1000 per month.
