I understand your point but it's not really how the spine works as far lifting goes. The spine will adapt to positions and just because the spine goes into flexion during a lift does not mean it is weak or you will definitely get injured. Just like having a straight back doesn't guarantee you won't get a back Injury.
@Mrraerae2 жыл бұрын
@@lazarushatchette3978 yes but the angle of your back should NOT change during the lift. If you are gonna lift with a round back, you need to have the same amount of curve during the whole lift. Actually moving your vertebrae in relation to each other so much during a lift that it is visible is fucking awful for you. Like, if you watch a strongman lift an atlas stone, they go into the starting position with a rounded back, and then they lift from there. They don't try to lift with a straight back and then get smushed down into a rounded position because there is too much weight for the muscles, they already have a round back and then they stay in that position while lifting. That is way different. If you're trying to keep a straight back, it should be straight the entire lift, if you are using some rounding then it should be rounded. At least with the kind of weights that you'd use for deadlifting. Doing active flexion work like jefferson curls or flexion rows with light weights is good, but that is with LIGHT weights

@@angelzarate7884 You don't need to be on a cycle or have great genetics to lift very heavy, just train properly for years and you'll get there. I lift heavy and have met natural athletes that with consistent effort for years are able to lift heavy as well. What is actually difficult to achieve, is to lift social media leves of weight. That does require good genetics and probably lots PEDs too. For instance, S450/B300/D500+ LB should be achievable by any male individual of around 180-200lbs after some years of training, natural. Man I love deadlifts. The funny thing is, I messed up my back doing squats. No pain or discomfort on deadlifts, straight back all day, none of this rolling the bar up the thighs nonsense. No big jerk backward at the end. Then I would squat and instead of bailing out when the weight was too heavy I would grind it out. Don't do that
@carlpanzram20122 жыл бұрын
I always found squats to feel a bit more unstable and taxing on my core. I think its got to do with the fact that you put deadlifts down, but you squat up, and even tho the movement is done, you cant reset, you gotta carry that weight. Additionally, any inertia of the weight is translated directly into your spine. With deadlifts you have your hands arms and shoulders that allow for a certain buffer. In a squat it sits Straight on you. And you also usually go deeper down with a squat, and that creates additional instability in your lower back that you don't have when you deadlift. But thats just my opinion.

@carlpanzram20122 жыл бұрын
Erector spinae. You can strengthen these. Technically a normal deadlift already does that, tho that would be a static load. You CAN put them through a bigger range of motion, and um sure that has some benefits, but you do that with low weight. The way he is lifting, these muscle are mostly only keeping the curvature of his spine "stable", while the load is sitting entirely on his curved spine. A curved spine should not be loaded like that, and no matter how strong the supporting muscles are, its probably going to cause issues. I gotta say tho, if you gradually load weight step by step, like he must have done, im sure you can adapt to the stress and your spinal connective tissue grows insanely strong. Id say its still not a good idea, but chances are he wont ever get a bulging disk from picking up the groceries... Unless hes buying depleted uranium. The issue isnt

@@inertial_salmon It is fine as long as you are in condition for it (sorry... can't say it is fine for EVERYONE). In fact, just look at the pistol squat (a single leg squat) which is possible to do with heavy kettle bells and such and the knee has to go well beyond the toes to perform.
@inertial_salmon2 жыл бұрын
@@tacozxtc alright that's a really nice answer. So then would you say that a similar technique to this "technique" in the video would be ok with light weights? That is, making sure that the weight is placed entirely on the muscles in the spine rather than the connective tissues holding the vertebrae in place. However I think that either way a back extension (laying on your stomach and crunching backwards) would be a better and safer exercise for the same muscles. It’s so unfair that I have back problems for simply being tall but this man is able to hang like 500 pounds from his spine without any negative effects

So hard to watch that madness. That guy flies a kite in a thunderstorm. Eats and then jumps in the pool. Well done.

Recently recovered from a back injury from doing deadlifts, literallythe worst pain and injury of my life. Didn't warm up properly before hand...went the stupid gym bro route of 2plates, 3plates, 4plates, and then injured myself on 5plates. Dont be stupid guys. Warm up before hand, ramp up at a 10-20 pound rate, and don't lift to failure every session.
