I spent 20 years tracking my mothers biological family. It was hard, the “egg donor” lied about her name, and told the adoption agency that the father didn’t want children. I managed to find her sisters who have been wonderful, thankfully the old hag has passed away as her daughter, my aunt, is a nasty piece of work that we decided not to engage with. It took another 2 years to find out the biological father, I rang every name in the phone book of the town that had his last name looking for a way to reach him. I finally found his sister who told us that he had passed away. She asked why I was looking for him, I told her as gently as I could that he was my grandfather. She was devastated, because all he wanted in life was a wife and children. He died not knowing he had a daughter. My great aunt jumped on the first flight she could get to meet us. We stay in touch to this day, even though she’s in her 90’s and struggling health wise.

These women were born in 1967 when I was a Senior in high school and I can tell you being pregnant back then and not married meant you were a tramp (or worse names) so these girls were given up to a couple who desperately wanted to adopt and they said they had a great childhood. Back then a couple who had a "shotgun wedding" often times didn't stay together. There was no DNA test to prove the guy was the father, so he often had doubt. (Just watch MAURY to see the times women swear he is the father and DNA shows he isn't.) So, these girls often ended up divorced, dealing with a kid and no child support or family support. This mother did the best for herself and those girls at the time.

I find it very sad that he didn't know about them and that the biological mother never told him because a relationship could have been formed there but like they said moving forward now they will have a relationship. At the end when she said I was afraid he would be ashamed of what we look like that made me cry he is not ashamed at all they should never think that like her sister said what's not to like? It was a most kind and considerate gesture of the maternal contacts to provide information on the father because through this ONE ACTION so many pieces were able to be reconstructed in the lives of these women. I am very certain that the father will build the story of their life for them, inform them of who their mother was and how they came to meet, and how their life started. The rest will remain with time, and the women can move forwards in their life, working with the information and the father that they have found. The mother may not be in good health to manage all these details at the present time in her own life. This is to be understood. The mother is incredibly present in the story by the fact that she re-united the women with their paternal family and their bio father. amazing, beautiful and a priceless story of immense beauty and joy all around. Wishing them happiness !

The world of adopted children always leaves the child feeling at fault once they are grown adults. Causing them to feel that they did something wrong. When in fact it's the parents who were in the wrong. Therefore, I kindly ask all those folks who KNOW that they are incapable to care for a child PLEASE! PLEASE! PLEASE! use birth control there are several types in this world to prevent unwanted pregnancies. Or simply keep your legs closed and men use a condom. These children who are put up for adoption don't deserve to live their lives thinking they did something wrong or they weren't good enough keep as their own child. One of the twins stated she was fearful he would like the way they looked?! That's just wrong!!! Years after years seeking true unconditional love of a biological parent only to feel they were the problem.
@daniellewoodley33 жыл бұрын
I think overall yes I agree with this but in some cases accidents happen- a condom could break, birth control isn't 100% effective, a woman could be raped and not want to keep the baby. I personally am adopted and do NOT wish that instead of being adopted I wasn't born... 😬

The sister may have found out about her mom's previous pregnancy and did some digging, or maybe her mom told her everything. I mean, the phone call may have been reenacted here, but it seems like she just knew everything, including that her mom didn't want contact, right away, without checking. I wish they had said what the sister might want. Maybe she wanted to meet them, even if the mom didn't? Painful as it is, I can respect the birth mom choosing to keep the door closed on that part of her life. Maybe it was just such a tumultuous time that she doesn't want to dredge it up. I can't, though, respect that she gave them up without informing the birth father. He should have had a choice in the matter, too. At least he does now, but there are so many cases out there where fathers don't. (And of course there are plenty of cases of fathers who do know and just shirk the responsibility. That sucks too.)

Awww, what a sweet family. Mom's not wanting to meet their children is common. My cousin found me on ancestry after her mother, another cousin, had her at 16 and gave her up. She does not want to meet with her. She never told her husband or her 4 kids about her. The adoptee's father has passed away and his family are a bunch of alcoholics and drug addicts so she won't have relationships with them. So it's really difficult on both sides. If youre gonna choose adoption, I think you owe it to your kid to allow contact if they want it. Adoption is traumatic enough for children.
@daniellewoodley33 жыл бұрын
That's a bit close minded tbh. It's traumatic for the parent as well. Some people just can't reopen that trauma or deal with it. It's called denial. It sucks but it is a coping mechanism people use for the duration of their lives.
@louib7163 жыл бұрын
@@daniellewoodley3 I get that, but I think the feelings of the person who never asked to exist or be placed for adoption should come first. You should probably just choose abortion if you think your obligation ends at giving life. At LEAST send them a letter with an explanation or let their bio dad know they exist. SOMETHING that will help them not develop a complex and spend decades in therapy.
@daniellewoodley33 жыл бұрын
@@louib716 Yeah your thought process is flawed here. Again I would RATHER BE ALIVE with the small amount of trauma from being adopted RATHER THAN BE ABORTED. No, the parent has no obligation to send something along with a child they will never potentially see again in their life. Its traumatic for parents too.
@louib7163 жыл бұрын
@@daniellewoodley3 its not a small amount of trauma. 2 out of 3 teens in therapy are adopted. You lose your whole identity. You battle with feelings of rejection. You might even need something basic like a family medical history. And you're saying its fine to make it way worse for a child to cope with this by not even offering as much as a letter to connect them to their past? Forgive me if I dont like it when people intentionally create a maladjusted member of society. I can recognize that adoption hurts bio moms because my cousin gave a child up for adoption and considers it her biggest regret. I'm not super sympathetic to people who cause their own problems. You made a bad decision that resulted in a child that you gave up for adoption. Grow up and get over yourself if you cant give that kid some kind of closure as an adult. You need to right your wrongs even if it is hard.
@daniellewoodley33 жыл бұрын
@@louib716 I was adopted, and you just sound uneducated rn. And no, the adult doesn't need to give any closure. I'm not sure where you think you have a right to judge the mom, when you haven't even been adopted my man. Yes, you have feelings of a misidentify, but you also get a family (most of the time) that loves you and cares for you. Some adopted children want NOTHING to do with their birth parents.
