Cats body languages are not as easy to read as dogs. But you can learn. Today I was visiting a friend with 3 cats. She was at vacation last week and I looked after the fur babies. Today was my first time beeing back at her house. I noticed her cats were unusualle clingyT till we realized that they might have been thinking she will go away again, bc I was there. So she assured them that she is not leaving again and all 3 of them settled down.

As a ”cat person” I don’t agree. I cannot understand dogs and their body language (which makes me feel insecure around them). Cats, however, I have no problem understanding. And if it’s a cat I don’t know I just talk to her and wait until she approaches me.

I’ve found, without exception, that a man who loves animals is a good man. It’s sad that, in American society, especially in some parts of the country, heterosexual men risk being labeled as weak or effeminate, if they show too much emotion or exhibit gentle behavior toward other people. Even with their own children, they may have difficulty with expressing those things once the kids are no longer very young. It’s easier for them, and more socially acceptable, to express those feelings toward pets/animals.

I can relate to Paulo's story. 40+ years a dog guy & now I have 7 cats. 2 strays & their 5 kittens took up residence in my yard & I took them in to save them from foxes. I foster-failed pretty hard

Yeah, that last stage of fostering is the hardest - letting them go to their new home and family. After fostering about 150 kittens and cats, that was a big factor in retiring from rescue, foster & adoption.

I too have always been a dog person, and when I literally saved an abandoned kitten and added her to our household, she and my dog became besties. I am convinced that my dog trained her to do doglike acts, and that made her personality even more fun. She is a very vocal little girl and has brought nothing but love and laughter to our home! I can't believe just how much we love this cat, and she obviously loves us right back!

Yellow cats are great. They seem to latch on. Had a homeless one on the porch with his house & lots of food until he got sick, don't know what or how, he just got very sick & was MIA for 2 days until I found him, broke my heart as I thought he was a goner. I had a rescue to call though & they fixed him up thankfully. He went from a porch cat wanting in (we have 5 inside, 2 ours from babies, 2 from local homes & 1 feral that inched his way in over a year) so we had no room for Ziggy. Now he is well as no one would help us when I begged & he is hopefully living the life he likely had (many people moved & left their cats) & things are different without him. He is very much missed but I am happy for him. Last yellow one here.

I am seriously allergic to cats, but I have Porch Kitty!!! He was actually abandoned when his house got raided by the cops, so he moved over to our block and he was so gentle and sweet and had a too tight collar on and that's how I became his Outside Mom!!! I couldn't stand seeing him with such a nasty collar so I bought a couple off Amazon and now Porch Kitty has reflective collars so when a light shines on him he is seen. He is a Void, by the way... I put dry catfood out on the porch for all the neighborhood kids, but I buy P.K. wet food and those meat gogurt push pops for only him...I also got him a heated ferral kitty hutch so he can be warm and safe close by, I don't like it when he disappears. Even though I am allergic, I would try to bring him in if he wanted to... but my English Mastiff won't abide a kitty, unless it's for a snack!!!❤

All my cats have been cat-dogs. Give them all the time and love when they first come to live with you, and then it’s companionship from then on. I wish more people would understand. The cats are only solo animals and by themselves when they are not treated with a lot of care at the start.
