He's run aground, or the keel has hung up on something. Someone on a nearby boat could have thrown him a line and at the least helped him set an anchor to keep from going on the rocks. Years ago, I saw a 32-foot sailboat run aground on a reef, I carefully backed down to them and towed them off. They had minutes as the tide was dropping. Waiting 20 minutes for the Coast Guard would likely have resulted in a lost boat.

Just sit right back and you'll hear a tale, a tale of a fateful trip. That started from this tropic port, aboard this tiny ship. The mate was a mighty sailing man, the skipper brave and sure. Five passengers set sail that day, for a three hour tour. a three hour tour. The weather started getting rough, the tiny ship was tossed. If not for the courage of the fearless crew, the Minnow would be lost, the Minnow would be lost. The ship took ground on the shore of this uncharted desert isle, with Giligan, the skipper too, The millionaire, and his wife, The movie star, The professor, and MaryAnn, here on Gilligan's Isle. So this is the tale of our castaways, they're here for a long, long time. They'll have to make the best of things, it's an uphill climb. To not be wearing a life jacket in that sea state aboard a yacht which is taking on water is a very strange choice! That’s an Island Packet 485, perhaps a $300,000 to $500,000 vessel. Such a shame if it really did sink…

FYI in the full vid guy gets help and the tow guys are standing up, water is below their waist so this guy would have been fine if anything happened and he is definitely just stuck on a sand bar

This is happening close to shore, possibly just off Haulover Inlet in Miami, Florida. The boat isn't sinking, yet. The keel that hangs down has hit bottom in shallow water, and the boat is being blown over and tipped sideways. The sailor is trying to tip it over even further, so the keel comes off the bottom and he can use the motor to move around. The other boats should be helping, but it is kind of a difficult situation. The snide remarks may be coming from people on shore, on the jetty. I think it's Haulover. The problem there is that there is a channel cut through the land, but it just opens into the Atlantic Ocean surf with no channel cut leading out into deeper water. The bottom is shallow and irregular, but at least it's sand. The sailor probably thought there was a channel, and ran aground. Like I said, sailboats like that have a deep keel. He might save his boat.

So you stood there and recorded instead of helping a fellow mariner out. You should be ashamed to be on the same water as him.
