The Bobby Dunbar story is so wild to me. The fact that the police just went “well, this kid is the same age and hair color, gotta be your kid” and the mom just going “uuuuh, no?” And the police went 🤷🏼♀️ is so wild to me
@carnuatus7 күн бұрын
It's not the Bobby Dunbar case, though. He's confused the Walter Collins case for the Bobby Dunbar case. In the Bobby Dunbar case, the family eagerly welcomed the other child with open arms because they were so desperate.

One of my old neighbors received a face transplant around 10 years ago(give or take, I don't exactly remember). Her and her husband were trapped in their house while it was on fire, and she got bad burns over most of her body(I don't know the percentage or the areas) and very severe burns to most of her face; mostly lips, cheeks, and parts of her left eye and nose. She was able to recieve skin and face transplants afterwards. She would tell me how she didn't even know it existed up until that point, and was beyond grateful that it did. Its more common than you think, and is lifesaving to individuals who suffered severere burns like that.

8:30 - Cults are actually interesting in this way. It's a form of reconditioning. Think of it like this; you know the ocean is blue, the ocean has always been blue, but one day you move to the desert where there is no ocean, and all the people around you tell you the ocean is actually purple, you don't believe them, but over time with everyone saying it's purple and you have no way to verify, you will start believing it must be purple, you must be just misremembering, especially if you start bonding with the people around you. It's why cultists aren't allowed to have internet access, so they can't get their knowledge elsewhere but the cult.

16:32 I actually read that article, it's fascinating. This woman survives a self-inflicted gunshot to the face, and is given a facial transplant (from the donor you mentioned) to reconstruct the parts of her face that couldn't be recovered (nose, lips, etc.). The article shows the healing process from before to after over time. Definitely not a read for the faint of heart, but incredible nonetheless. It really shows how adaptable the human body is and how insane modern medicine can be

Hi Greg! The ISS is 400 km of altitude on average, but it's orbiting the earth, witch means when it's on the opposite side of point Nemo, the distance to it it's the diameter of the earth (12.740 km) plus 400 km. So the distance to the ISS and point nemo varies and can definitely be more than 2688 km. Distance between Point Nemo and the ISS is only 400 km when it's passing directly over it.

The Bobby Dunbar case is a littleee more complicated than that, but yeah, pretty much. They let the kid stay with the Dunbar family because they were rich and the kid would probably have a better life with them. I can't remember where I read it, but there's this story of "everyone" knowing it wasn't the Dunbar kid, but everyone knew he'd have a better life with the Dunbars than with a single mother with no money and kids with different fathers. That being said, the Dunbars really did think it was their kid. It was only when the DNA was tested that everyone realized it wasn't. The family member that agreed to the DNA testing was shocked to find out the truth. I THINK (but don't quote me on it, because I read so many whacky criminal cases) it's the Dunbar case where "Bobby" visited the other family/his real family in his youth, so there's a chance he knew or suspected he wasn't actually Bobby Dunbar. Either way, it's a very fascinating read.

In regards to minute 13, I think a lot of people, like me, don't perceive or comprehend heights like a normal person so the trip up is more about the view than being scared of falling. I find myself leaving over buildings and railings a lot and get pulled back by folks that are normal.
