Holy cow, I forgot that I am as old as the character in this story. As soon as she mentioned covering school books with paper bags, milk and soda bottles, one television for the family,at least in the mid 60's me and my siblings had our own radios. The transister radio was like the equivelent of a tablet today. Geez, i am the old lady. lol

@sonyafox3271 11 күн бұрын
No, I don’t think so, as in a I-Pad cost a heck of lot more than a transistor radio! If a transistor radio cost the same amount as a I-Pad not everyone in the house would have ever had their own transistor radio! The cheapest transistor radio would cost under $10 while the highest quality one would cost close to $20! Which my last one, I got on my birthday and, it was close to $20! A basic I- Pad of decent quality cost over a $100 the better quality of brand the higher the cost! I surely could not see families in the 70s giving that price for a little transistor radio, even if it was a bigger one for a family room or kitchen. 9:47

It is amazing to see how quickly a divide has been established by the youth of today. I'm in my mid 70's now, but I remember that, when I was young, we were taught to respect not only our elders, but anyone who needed help. Even today, though I require a cane to help me walk, I still hold doors open for others and I make sure I smile while doing so, meaning that I enjoy doing something small to show respect for them, regardless of their age. There are fewer "thank you's" these days, unfortunately. But it doesn't stop me!

What a wonderful story. It made me remember how it was back in the day. So many things I had forgotten that we did. I remember taking coke, milk and some juice bottles back. Twenty dollars got you a whole week of groceries. We made it without central air conditioning in our houses and cars. I miss how our town would decorate for Christmas after Thanksgiving. You could ride down the middle of town and see Christmas lights all around. The lights on the tree didn’t go out because one light didn’t work. You would have to check every light to see which one needed replace. But then again I think about what the generation did without before me. It’s good to remember and appreciate what we have and show respect for every one. In my 71 years I have seen so many changes. Some good and some bad. I wished my grandkids could have known what it was like to say grace before lunch at our school. Back then we remember our God and thank him for his blessings. We need to get back to those ways again. God Bless America. 🙏🏼✨🙏🏼✨🙏🏼✨🙏🏼✨🙏🏼✨🙏🏼

My mom is with the lord now. She was born in 1924. I used to ask her all of the time to tell me about when she was a little girl and a young woman. I am 80, over 60 years ago I was licensed as an amateur radio operator back at age 17, when many of us younger students built our own with even with tubes. I was born in London, UK in 1944 in WWII bombed but we survived, my Mother being Jewish and my Father left the continenal Europe because in 1939, war and Nazism was looming. We came to NYCity on the Queen Mary in 1949, and I started school in 1950. I was a Polio Pioneer in the early 1950's. I saw Ike running for President in 1952, Eleonor Roosevelt spoke to us at our School too. When I went to college in 1964, and became formally a US citizen, so I was able to enroll in US Air Force ROTC to be an officer and served from 1968 to 1974 when I was medically retired and am today a 100% Disabled American Veteran of the Vietnam War Era. By the way, my wife and I shop with our own reusable grocery bags. 😊

a good video 100 percent. the interpretation of things changes over time. I clearly remember brown paper/ tree saver bags, they where not fit for purpose, lacking strength that modern plastic carrier bags have. reusing glass bottles is a top idea for the not broken ones but they need cleaning fiorst. modern plastic item can be melted down and reused what about plastic free shops where you bring your own container for refilling

Our environmental impact has changed greatly over the years but change is hardly noticed when you’re standing in the middle of it. As we developed industry we commonly looked at the properties it would bring economically but seldom looked to the future impact and slowly we change. We cannot blame one generation over another but imply our own personal practices for change communitively change happens

You know iam 65 in December I have 2 wonderful children and 2 amazing grandchildren but they are that way because the way they were brought up and even though the Internet has a lot of uses it has sadly put cowards,peadoes,and everything bad in the world front and centre,and I remember when I was young thinking and laughing I won't be an old Fudadudy like my parents but they were right and my kids are saying the same now ,if I could wish a time for my grandchildren to live in it would not be now ,the cold War was better than this today,the Internet is the number one most evil thing ever invented by mankind,why because it can bring death and destruction and evil straight in to your home past your burglar alarm and you in to your kids rooms how scary is that 😢this is one of the reasons the youth of today have been brainwashed and its made a good chunk of them crazy I mean you only have to look at the US and the UK proof enough 😢
