The Grand but Humble score fits Superman perfectly. 2. Zod was a great villain - better than all the Marvel villains so far (including Loki) - and better than older Superman movie villains. He was justified evil and didn't monologue, preach or mess around. 3. Action and fights were unprecedented and unparalleled by any other superhero movie. E.g. Kal vs Faora and Nam-Ek, and Kal vs Zod. 4. One of the most visually stunning CBMs of all time. E.g. Planet Krypton sequence, Terraforming scenes. *Reasons for the unwarranted and undeserved Man of Steel hate:* *_Genre related:_* 1. Inept viewers (including critics) who were socially programmed to dismiss all superhero films as mindless popcorn flicks, instead of trying to pick up on real-world themes, big ideas, and the complexity that superhero films now have to offer. 2. Viewers who want to feel safe and comfortable in the theatre, and don't want to face the realities of superhero battles; that many people do die in such situations - and then say that superhero films aren't supposed to be "dark and realistic" just because superheroes aren't real. 3. Senseless viewers who always want things explicitly (and repeatedly) explained to them in the movie, and blindly call them "plot-holes" - of which there were a very little number. *_Fan related:_* 1. Diehard Marvel fanboys who think Marvel's method is the right method and who don't want DC to succeed. Also, the portion of the general public who now hold Marvel films on a pedestal and have developed double standards against DC. (No offence against fans of both DC and Marvel films.) 5. Biased Zack Snyder haters who don't bother to understand his films and read deeper into them (e.g. Sucker Punch, a criminally underrated film). If I would give it a score, it would be 8.5 or 9 out of 10. It was a great movie in my opinion - and also can be considered a masterpiece. Also, I've heard people say they don't find this film to be hopeful at all. What's wrong with people? I got chills when Clarke lifted that bus and I barely lost them from that point. When he went through that beam I nearly cried of how friggin epic that was. He just won't give up! He's only just begone man and he's already friggin giving it all he's got to protect us. How can you not absolutely love that!? He's even more heroic seeing as he still barely knows just how powerful he is.

The more I see the film the I like it! I finally got to see the Superman from my comics, from the DCAU...Post Crisis Superman. I didn't need to see him saving cats from trees and lifting heavy objects, I wanted to see Superman as a real person, and this gave it to me.

My favorite CBM yet. Superman's my favorite character along with Green Lantern... This is my favorite adaptation of Supes yet! And I've watched the old Fleischer Superman cartoons, Bruce Timm's S:TAS. Chris Reeves Superman films, Smallville, Superman Returns. Plus comics from the early 90's to the new 52. Henry Cavill IS Kal-El/Superman to me. He's the best yet. Don't see that changing for awhile!

I truly believe this will be the best superhero movie of modern times. That being said everything you see in this 13 minute video is carefully written advertising. Almost a carbon copy of the interviews from the original Richard Donner films in 1978. I have even read an interview where Zachary Snyder stated that he did everything he could to restore the red trunks to Supermans suit. Using this suit was a demand from DC not the choice of these producers.

The movie was perfect until the final fight; it just felt overly destructive. I love how Dawn of Justice is going to address this, but I think if the final fight had taken place in-and-around Clark's home it would have had much more significance, perhaps at the expense of the visual marvel that the final product demonstrated.

I'm a big fan of Superman, been that way since I was in my teens. 30 years later, that feeling is stronger than ever and this movie ranks way up there to me along with the 1978 one, TDK and the SW first trilogy. The flying fight scenes were everything I envisioned. They finally were able to depict the power he holds in one single fist. I felt the violence, the speed and the intensity when he would hit Zod in mid-air. Absolutely fantastic movie.

The biggest plot hole was the fact that Lois couldn't recognise him if he had glasses on which is beyond stupid. W-James Superman II is far superior to Man of Steel. It was supposed to be corny. That was literally SUPERMAN. I don’t remember Superman killing anyone so can you please specify so I can defend that claim? There was no charcater development in Man of Steel. Reeves Superman is overrated and people really only like him through nostalgia, and that’s okay. But to say that his movies are superior than Man of Steel is just wrong. Cavills superman has undeniably much more depth to the character and is far superior than reeves. From the physical traits, acting, physique, to the character appreciation. And I disagree that Superman is supposed to be corny like you said, very much. Did you say no character development? Things we learn from the past: 1. He learns to hone and control his powers. 2. He shouldn’t show off his powers. Things we learn from the present: 1. He is a good person trying to help out. 2. He would risk his life to save Earth, which isn’t even his true planet. 3. He trusts in mankind. And many more hints can be seen... I think you really need to rewatch man of steel a few more times if you really think there was no character development. And that’s not a bad thing, because MoS gets better with each and every viewing experience. We appreciate the classics for what they are. But just because they are classics doesn’t mean they are the best of all time. The Donner films surely had a lot of flaws in it and Reeves Superman may be iconic, but not a pure goodness of heart such as Cavills Superman nor as relatable. Don’t get me wrong though, they’re both outstanding as Superman and Clark Kent.

I disagree. I like Hans Zimmer, but nothing about the soundtrack is memorable or iconic. Mozart's music is remarkable, unforgettable and never fades into the unmemorable. John Williams' score is far better, more iconic and entirely unforgettable. It is, and always will be identified with Superman. I can't even recall one theme from Man of Steel, musically speaking. Utterly forgotten.
