And I'm not some transformers freak who watches movies for the pretty explosions, but a Superman movie requires severe suspension of disbelief, which is not helped by the old effects... This movie was epic in my opinion and I'm glad they didn't make him this squeaky clean hero at such an early start in his super hero career. Hell even pre 52 Batman almost got killed his first night out. It's a learning curve.

One thing I noticed about MOS is that during the Smallville scene, where Nam-Ek takes down that fighter jet or whatever, Nam-Ek freaking squeezes the pilot's head like a cherry. There's a video on KZbin where a guy explains it.

I don't even know why people treated this film like it was going to be some holy grail for a movie. I got everything I wanted from Man of Steel. I finally got to see Superman kick ass on the big screen! I, too really like how they told the backstory through flashbacks. I thought it was clever and gave film a great pace. I enjoyed it so much.

I saw this yesterday, I really enjoyed it. It gave back story, really described Clark as a kid. Also Crowe and Costner both played great roles. Both well acted and believable! They really were believable characters. My only complaint was Zodd. He should of been older in my opinion, they didn't make him as evil, he had a Magneto kinda feel, he loved his people so much he was willing to do anything for them.

Zod was a military force, so naturally he's not gonna be a devilishly villainy kind of character. Hell he wasn't even an all out "baddie" per se. He had understandable reasons for his actions. He wanted to save his people and his home, so by force of hand he did what he felt he had to do. He was a harsh militant character and Shannon portrayed him with obsessed determination. He was spot on. He didn't need to be colorful like Joker or Bane. Thats what I like about this film.

100% spot on. It got away from itself in the 3rd act. I also thought the action scenes suffered from shaky cam and too many quick cuts. Overall though, I did enjoy the film and loved the tone, as well as the look and sound of it. People say it needed humour, but I appreciated the fact that it took a more serious approach. I felt the humour in Iron Man 3 was a bit strained.

The biggest problem in this film is that Zod's actions don't make sense. He was born/built with the mission to preserve Krypton and its people, yet the way he executes it is illogical: He has a machine that can completely change a planets atmosphere to suit kryptonians, yet he doesn't do this to another planet besides earth? By choosing to change earth/kill humans he needlessly made an enemy of the only person that could stop him, the only person that has an object crucial (pun intended) for the future survival of his people.

He needed the codex in Kal's DNA, and since he's on Earth already why not do it here. He tried to convince Kal to be on his side but he failed so he didn't make Kal his enemy on purpose

Harry Nguyen Do you remember how he tried to negotiate? The whole virtual reality session was the worst conceivable negotiation fail ever. Not to mention how he called for the 'meeting' with Kal by threatening the destruction of earth if he didn't comply. Man of Steel was truly the best movie experience of my life! Proud to say that this movie brought tears to my eyes several times throughout unlike any other movie has ever done before! She wrote an article about entering an alien ship and being saved by a mysterious man that got published online. She went on a search for him, and there was a leak on the news that she knew exactly who Kal-El was. Zod found her article and knew that the alien vessel she entered had to be the one that sent the distress beacon over. Zod is no fool and need information about codex by collecting all possible source of it hence the need of lois. And the need of meeting Jor-el to advance the plot lol

Man, I just found your channel and I've been watching your videos like a maniac for the last couple of hours or so. I pretty much agree with your point of view except on Micheal Shannon performance. I did like it a lot. True, maybe is not memorable as the Heath Ledger's Joker but again, that's a though one to beat. But I must say, Shannon made Zod a believable opponent. And that's lot to say about a Villan who can go toe to toe with Superman.
