I'll give them this: this couple is the most normal out of all the strange addiction shows we've seen so far, not to mention that at least their house is super clean and tidy, all of the appliances organized and arranged in a very aesthetically pleasing way. Other people from this show seem to always crowd their homes with their obsessions so there's barely any walking space, stuff is dirty/dusty, etc.

It's to clean. I had a girlfriend when I was younger whose parents kept the house to clean, I was not allowed to sit down because I may move a chair or a pillow, you couldn't eat the apples, they where there for decoration only. I agree! It's normal for collectors to have huge collections anyway, so I don't really see this as an "addiction" per se. They're simply just very passionate. I once knew an older guy who loved a washing machine, for some backstory…there is an antique mall up about 5 minutes up the road, my family and I go to it often for fun. He rented a booth there for years. His shop sold vintage appliances and what not, well…long story short, he collects old washing machines and dryers, and said he fell in love with a washing machine. He was a cool guy up until then, he went into some pretty creepy detail and smiled the whole way through explaining it to me. I don’t exactly know what led us to that topic, but I think it started off with vintage Star Wars mini figurines, and ended up scarring my memory.

if he was a pretty cool guy until then, maybe he still was and just weirded you out because he didn't know social norms very well. Most people with objectophilia are autistic, and autistic people tend to overshare without meaning to be creepy. He probably overshared with you because he trusted you and got at ease. It's not like he was harming anyone.

@@aldranzam3456 We didn’t steer clear from him after that day or anything. It creeped me out, but I’ve heard creepier. Overall he’s a nice guy and we still went to that mall often and spoke with him when we went. I think he moved to another antique mall though, or opened a shop. I don’t believe he was autistic but he certainly wasn’t all “normal” up in the head. Not trying to be rude with that statement, what I really mean is…his mind was unique, smart guy, not very good with social situations…but he was a genuinely cool dude, he would hold onto any old electronics or video games he got, and would sell them to me personally at a good price or sometimes for free if they didn’t work. I always offered money numerous times any visit he gave me something for free, he always declined saying something like, “I don’t find interest in the item, but you do, and I don’t have any plans on making money off of something I don’t care for” very cool and genuine guy, the washing machine part really creeped me out in the moment and I definitely looked at him in my head a bit differently, but in the end…it’s what made him happy, and it wasn’t effecting me, so I didn’t care about his love for old appliances. I think he’s independently living, not that it matters…but it might contribute to his whole social situation, he might not have many people to talk to. He could have moved to the indoor flea market to sell things, he said that he wanted to a long time ago, but they didn’t have any “long-term vendor locations” open.

We definitely have an electric kettle that plugs in the wall at my job. My mother only made tea as her mother did. She was Taiwanese. Now, I work for a UK company and we just got the Queens award for packaging machinery innovation. I’m so proud. It literally means nothing to our fellow American citizens but we now have the Queens emblem for the next 8 years ,or 5, on everything. Also, I don’t really drink coffee either.
