LOL wow. I mean he did help? They tried yelling at him, what would you like him to jump off shore over the railing, and board the dudes boat? "why didn't anyone stop the woman backing the trailer up" I mean.. this all happened in a matter of 5 seconds. At first it looked like she knew what she was doing, and then .5 seconds later she was 2 tires deep. I've seen some crazy things here at the boat ramp, a lot of the time you'd think people will need help, but that's just how they normally do things, The dude was obviously Drunk, or medically unfit to drive the boat, it's not like in hindsight you can think of those things right off the bat. Instead of of whining in the comments, and taking 3 days to reply, you could have been at the boat ramp and saved about a dozen credit card captains.

@@jleif7736 yep, I was out on my boat. With helping, it can go 2 ways, person can help and boater listens or everyone is yelling, so the captain has to block out screaming to concentrate. You know damn well, she backed that trailer in to deep. I’m done, you sit and video, I’m heading out fishing.

It's been ages since I was boating, but people are more than willing to lend a hand if asked to do so. Key words: if asked to do so. Many captains take offers for help as an insult. Being a novice I can understand the stress and anxiety this man must have been experiencing. I had such a shitty time my first couple of times at the ramp that now I drive an hour away to the Fort De Soto boat ramp. There are so many ramps at that location that it makes it virtually a stress free experience getting my PWC in and out of the water. I fully understand that no one wants to wait or be inconvenienced because the dude ahead of you is slow. Being kind or just understanding or even offering some kind of help goes a long way. Yelling stupid shit or joking about the situation never helps. Be grateful that you are a pro and those days are behind you.

Go into your local fisherman's bar find an old fella in his 50-60 years old start buying him drinks and il guarantee you youl find a friend for life who can teach you everything you need to know. Youl find great knowledge of him everytime you walk into that pub. Ask him to come out one day and show you the basic stuff. Like how to tie a knot do engine checks use the vhf radio all your emergency equipment. How to read weather how to understand tides and wind then you can move onto basic manoeuvring at sea then when your getting the feel of the boat your using then practice docking then when your handy at that move onto the ramp. Take your time learning because if your goin to fuck up a slow fuck up is better then a fast one. Most people fuck up going to fast when they need to go slow and then go to slow when they need to go fast. I was really lucky my father is a highly skilled fisherman so I learnt alot off him and all the really good captains I worked with through the years made my life operation my boat on the wild Atlantic Way in Ireland alot easier I'm only in my early 30s but when I see the thing that happen over your way it makes my heart hurt n I think I should be over there teaching people how to pilot their boats I reckon I'd make a killing. Respect to those who eventually helped out this couple. Clearly this was their very first time out (no one would go through this shit show twice - my bet is they sell the boat after this episode). Many are reading this now who know how to anticipate current, wind, understand momentum, exactly what depth to have the bunks (varies with angle of ramp) and how to cut power just at the right moment so that the boat gently glides onto the trailer, then power up gently until bow just touches front roller, so all that is left is to lean over the front and hook up. We who can do this learnt it through experience, probably had some F#$k ups in the early days that were learnt from (I know I did). Amusing as this was (and it was very very amusing), any experienced boater would have recognised their inexperience well before serious damage was done. I would have called warning offered to help well before he attempted to drive onto the way too deep submerged trailer. If help was offered and rejected, then they deserve all the crap they got, but if not, being a novice just means they have lots more still to learn. Just my 2 cents, I prefer to assist and teach people above ridiculing them

Watching her continue backing in after the rear wheels hit the water gave me major anxiety. Kept thinking “Is she gonna stop? How about now? Now? However the cops should have been called as they were both clearly under the influence.

I took my coast guard classes some 45 years ago, they just don't cover things like getting your boat back on the trailer, first mistake I see more than others is trying to float the boat on, a floating boat is a boat that is still subject to wind and current. For those just getting their sea legs, don't back your trailer in too deep, you want the forward end of the bunks at least partially out of the water, the sweet spot is a bit different for each boat, you want those bunks to grab and center the hull, then with only enough power as required drive up on the trailer.

In my country ( new zealand) boat trailers don't have bunks. We use wobble rollers. So the boat can come in at almost any angle and the trailer self centres. You only put half the trailer half in the water. So much easier

I was very Lucky to have had a Gentleman who would become not only a Mentor too Me and also an older Brother too me also. He used to work on The Barges as a Deck Hand and Back up Driver..I Drove an Inbard Ski Boat which can be real Tricky at first.

Love watching these people operating their boat as if they are steering a car. Spinning the wheel wildly, left to right, with no effect. They simply don’t realize that boats don’t turn unless they are under way, and all motions whether steering or throttle are to be done in small increments. That’s why there are so many of these boating channels, for our entertainment.

My brother in law was in the US Coast Guard, and they called them Tow Liners because they were always towing them in.

Brother in law had one for about 20 years. While I'd never own one, it was perfectly fine for the 2 or 3 days he used it every year. That's the market they cater to, definitely not for someone who logs 100 hours/season. Still need to maintain them regularly and probably a good idea if you don't drive drunk. But, yeah, it's an entry level boat for someone who can't afford, or doesn't want to spend the money on an " entry level boat" 😂😂😂

When I was a kid we used to do a lot lake fishing. I'm talking just about every weekend in the summer we were out at the lake. One thing that really struck me as a kid was how nice everyone on the lake is. I guess that has changed, since people get upset at people now for taking too long, but there was a time when people came to the lake for a relaxing and enjoyable time and everyone shared the lake with each other. I had many experiences as a kid and teenager that made really appreciate the fishing community. The jet skier's - well it was everyone's lake and as long as they stood away from the fishing spots I was okay with them. In fact it worked out since they would scare the fish away from that area, and the fishing spots would have more as a result. Then of course there was the occasional speed boat. I'll reserve my opinion on those guys :D.

This is TOTALLY the blind leading the blind. Obviously his first time being captain and the driver submerged the trailer to the point it’s TOTALLY underwater - including the hitch. The vessel is supposed to ride up onto the trailer and be winched securely before moving out of the ramp - not the other way around.

We got buddy whos hobby is dock watching people (impaired) trying to trailer their crafts. He's got a million stories that entertains us for hours. One of my favorites is about a impaired couple exit their boat to get trailer. He falls of dock in 1 ft. of water and commences to flounder (no pun intended) flop, and so forth. She looks up at my friend and screams "you just going to sit there #%* let him *%%# drown?" My friend replys "yep". By this time he's on dry land and ok. She's still cursing. My friend sez this " Y'all will set your butts right over here, I'll load your boat and keep your truck keys cause you ain't going nowhere" They both start a cussin. Friend sez, " ok. Your other option is I call the law ". They complied. New sub here. Like the moments you catch and your sense o humor. Hope to get on the water soon. Putting jet ski engine on a 2 person peddle paddle boat. Good day. 🇺🇲
