Seattle PD has a no pursuit policy. So unless the car was stolen or involved in violent crime than they cant pursuit it

Well they can inittially pursue the car but they have to ask themselves is it worth it? Usually a supervisor or dispatcher or even the pursuing officer can call it off, and its raining too that can be another factor as to why they didn't initially go after the car. But since the officer was 'hit' by the car then they can pursue the car which i guess is what they did but they weren't able to find the guy.

Yeah. I live in Seattle im currently a SGT with Seattle Police Explorers and in a few years i plan on applying to SPD or any other local agencies. Seattle gets a lot of bad rep since it a big city that has some dumb but at the same time understandable limitations. Hopefully that changes

Did you guys notice that he was fidgeting when the officer contacted him when he rolled up on him. He also looked like he wanted to leave as he walked towards the car and came back. It looks like he had something in his hand or was going to get something. When the officer stepped out of the car. He turned his back to him and never gave him much attention. Poor tactics as it allowed him full access to the the trunk which he had open. He then closed it so the officers wouldn't see what was in there.....

I tried to not get out of the car in the rain. I worked LEO in Southern California for 28 years, 2 months, 22 days. I didn't do daytime pursuits. I didn't do rainy wet road pursuits. I didn't check cars for expired registration unless I got a radio call and when I arrived I said "97-98, checked okay" and kept going. They could tell by the speed from the police car AVL that I didn't stop, but I didn't have to stop if I could see it looked okay. If this chase had ended with a violent crash you wouldn't hear a damn thing about it being the suspects fault but a chorus of "why did they chase him". Smart cop put out PC on the air for other officers, they gave a religiously righteous head start and no one made the newspapers. Non-invocation of the criminal justice process happens when police are demoralized and/or the community has no support just contempt, like Seattle. Don't be like these guys. Wait for the call. That way you can explain why you made the stop...you were called. Otherwise, you are profiling, you are "messing with people."
