I feel so bad for you folks in the U.S. I love my Canadian health care. But we still have to pay for an ambulance.
@icedo1013Ай бұрын
That's (at least partly) due to the fact that ambulances are equipped with very expensive life saving facilities and resources that are designed to keep a patient from dying in transport. If you're not dying or in debilitating pain and you request an ambulance then you're using the time and resources of that machine and its occupants that cannot simultaneously be used to help preserve somebody on the brink of death. They're not supposed to be cheap because they're not supposed to be a taxi cab to the hospital. I concede that insurance companies exacerbate the problem (and likely to a much more prevalent degree) with no argument, but even at $200-$400, roughly 20-33% of your total bill, it should be expensive enough to dissuade people who would use them frivolously and at great opportunity cost to others in dire need of aid.

It’s all BS.. stop treating your kids like babies and raise them right… he knew what he was doing, he knows how to work the system, and using this mental shyt is getting old.. Contrary to popular belief, claiming to be mentally ill will not get you out of criminal charges. Even if you are actually mentally ill, and found incompetent to stand trial. You will be remanded to a psychiatric facility by court order until you are deemed competent to stand trial, and then you will stand trial. The actual problem is simply that jails and prisons are overcrowded. So to put it in simple terms. It’s like if the jail can only house 10 people, and they already got 3 murderers, 2 rapists, 2 armed robbers, 2 burglars, a guy who stabbed someone, and 3 drugs dealers. Then this guy get arrested, and the judge has to choose who to let go because the jail is already over capacity and if they dont let someone out. they run the risk of violating both the prisoners human and civil rights. Which can lead to cases being overturned and dismissed, and then all of them get back out on the street. So I guess my question to you is, who would you let out on bond? The murders? The rapists? The burglars? The armed robbers? The drug dealers? Or the one guy that wants to act like a child and can reasonable be considered less of a threat to society than the others? And no keeping them all locked up forever is not an option, because that would require the jail to be expanded. which will cost the tax payers more money. Which everyone would bitch and moan about and say is “theft”…. So basically you can’t have your cake and eat it too. You can’t both simultaneously continuously expand or build new prisons to lock everyone up in, while also refusing to pay a dime for it.

It is so damn scary for first responders when suspects bite them, spit, or throw fluids on them. They quite often have to go on a cocktail for months, along with regular testing. It takes a toll not only on the responder but the family as well. Couples not having relations, parents that have to be super vigilant with their children, something they do not understand. It's disgusting and traumatic.

These young cadets just earned the respect of all officers there, including Sargent's who may be them one day. I respect them too...enough to say that they may not have their badges yet, but in the eyes of a nation...they earned those badges on this day! We may not see heroes every day, but officers see them in the eyes of their brethren Everyday, when we are not looking, respect.

A couple years ago, a police officer was fired in Atlanta for excessive use of force when he used a taser on a noncompliant suspect. The prosecutor said the taser use was considered deadly force. Fast forward a few months from that, again in Atlanta, a suspect took a taser away from a police officer, fled with the taser, fired the taser at the pursuing officer and then the pursuing officer used his firearm to stop the suspect. Prosecutor charged the officer because tasers are not considered a deadly weapon and he should not of had used his firearm to stop the suspect. Show of hands of who remembers that...

It's good that several people ask the officer about his health. He just says he's been bitten but I think the fact that the suspect got the taser for a moment must have hit him hard mentally as well. I mean, it must be close to his worst nightmare. I wonder if that his why people keep asking him if he's okay, because he obviously doesn't look okay. They seem to sense there's more going on than just that bite. EDIT: Oh, at the very end he admits it. But not to the health personell.
