The door is for potential stray bullet shielding, hostile stand-off, and efficiency should the chase extend. Imagine lock the car and stop the engine then go out of the car and looking for the suspect, that’s a good 20seconds wasted. Same thing applies to if the suspect somehow break the parameter and escaped on vehicle, you gotta unlock the car re-start the engine then start chasing, another 20seconds wasted and the suspect’s long gone. Sure you eliminate the possibility of a suspect stealing a cop car, but the majority of the cases the suspect steals civilian vehicle, so the normal procedure for these chases is to set up multiple parameters hoping these can apprehend the suspect. Multiple, meaning there’s always possibility for further chasing. Make sure you actually educate yourself on what you are talking about before you put out the big words and accusations.
