Dr. Nigel Burrows joins us at our 2020 Virtual Summer Conference to speak on the topic of managing skin complications in EDS and HSD. Dr. Nigel Burrows is a Consultant Dermatologist at Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, UK. He has been interested in Ehlers-Danlos syndromes since the mid -1990s when he undertook his MD thesis on ‘The Molecular Genetics of Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome Types I and II’ (Classical).

I think I have hEDS (waiting for type confirmation) and vitamin c helps my joint pain and stiffness tremendously. When I miss a day I know it and when I take it again it eases up.

Thank you very much doctor Nigel for this video. I have a question about tretinoin, would it be beneficial or should I avoid it? Or some other retinoid?

Beneficial! I have had 3 surgeries on a torn flexor tendon in my finger. The scar kept tearing. I started putting tretinoin on it and it stopped it from tearing. The original torn tendon was from a dog bite. The tretinoin made all of the bites to my finger nearly unnoticeable! Definitely recommend it! I have hEDS.
