God bless Maui. I'm so sorry, what happened with the fire? God bless everyone every animal that was affected family. My heart goes out to you in my prayers. And this is the second time. I've heard this song today's date. Is August 23rd 2023 Pacific time 6:30 PM. God bless everyone and all talking due is to pray. My prayers go out to the Hawaiian island.❤❤❤❤

I am Hawaiian at heart and I have been doing Hula since 1960. My daughter has lived on Kaua’i for over 45 years so Kaua’i is my second home, away from San Diego. I have grandchildren and great grandsons here. I love the presentation of this song, which was also my sister’s favorite so it brings tears to my eyes to hear it like this.

Mahalo! He nani ke mele! In 'Ōiwi Ē, so many of the actions look like Māori waiata a ringa (action songs), and the ending is a typical way to end a song when performing ("1, 2, 3, 4...", though "Hī auē" was swapped out for "kia ora" -- clever!) Just curious whether the motions and ending overlap at all with Hawai'ian tradition or whether they were borrowed as a tribute. ❤
