Gvardiol is much better overall than Ake on the left but Ake is horrendous as a center back. Without cover in midfield it's probably better to play Gvardiol central and Ake on the left

I was thinking the other night that the last time Pep struggled with City (albeit not to this extent) was when Fernandinho was injured or forced to play CB. I think it might just be as obvious as Pep doesn't contemplate the possibility of his DM getting a bad injury and that because his other midfielders tend to be offensively minded, he can't simply replace the DM by dropping one of his offensive midfielders deeper.

Pep has to find a way to fix these issues. Without a good DM the team is very open and most teams are taking advantage of the situation 😔

It's very difficult to get good DMs both City & LFC have been trying hard to get some DMs in last 2-3 yrs & both have failed.

@@HafizShivji786 Yup. Caicedo 115M. Rice 100M. Lavia 53M. Kalvin Phillips 42M. Rodri himself was 62M 5 years ago, which was quite high back then, but not expensive at all today. The modern game ask a lot from the 6, for both offense and defense.
