The Premier League is a voluntary association. Members agree to be bound by the rules. City can disaffiliate any time they want (takes 3 years). It's not restraint of trade if you are part of the entity making the rules. It'll get laughed out of court.

City’s owners saw that United and Pool have a global fan base and they wanted that too. Nothing wrong with that, but both those clubs built this over decades and decades. City wanted the quick route and not to take decades but a few years. They wanted to run before they could walk so suddenly they have these great sponsorship deals coming in. They somehow generate millions when they are still little league in comparison to Madrid, Barca, Pool and United. They will most likely get the largest fine ever in the PL which will be pocket change to them. Maybe to look as if they are really being punished they’ll also get a points deduction. Again possibly 10 and that will affect them for one season. Then it will be getting out the carpet sweeper. If any of the 115 are upheld the punishment should be in line with what happened to Forest and Everton x the number of charges plus additional punishment for them not acknowledging their guilt. On the other hand, the Teflon Blue Moaners will slither their way out of it once more. Shiny suited lawyers will be triple checking and searching for loopholes to work their magic once again. What’s really sad is the majority of their players have lit up the PL and whether we like it or not they have played some great football, but the legacy of the trophy wins will be forever tarnished.

Easy fix, the leagues within UEFA need to all agree to a cost cap including salaries for the players. Players who do not play within the UEFA leagues should not be eligible to play internationals. Let’s see how long the players will last playing in Saudi or China when there is no World Cup or European football. The Americans and Japan tried to create breakaway leagues years ago and all failed.

Total over reaction. All of the FFP rules result in the same 6 teams being able to outspend everyone else. Specifically, the rules city wish to challenge were brought in purely to slow investment into Newcastle United. The issue is that most of the other teams already have owner affiliated commercial deals in place and the problem arises when these deals need to be renewed. In the long run FFP will lead to certain teams having an unfair advantage which is mainly Manchester Utd, Liverpool, Arsenal and Spurs. Removing FFP restraints will result in West Ham, Newcastle and Aston Villa being able to invest to grow. The rules simply arnt fair. Get rid of the lot of it.

Historically over the passage of time, clubs have been allowed to spend whatever they wanted - Jack Walkers millions won Blackburn the PL etc etc and Utd have benefited massively from this as well. It's ony now under the current Glaser ownership were Utd can't compete. Its' a complicated situation. State ownership has ultimately ruined football.
