These sad England fans really need a reality check. This handwringing and wailing at every tournament are ridiculous. England has never really been that good at football at international level. The record books don’t lie. Their overall record is slightly better than Belgium and Sweden and on a par with Portugal, and you wouldn’t expect them to be automatically challenging every two years. They always go out around the quarter-final stage. They couldn’t even beat the U.S.A in the 1950 World Cup or even win the European Championship in 1996 or in 2021 even though they home advantage and went a goal up after 2 minutes in the latter. In the 1962 World Cup they went out even with Bobby Moore, Johnny Haynes, Jimmy Greaves and Bobby Charlton. Just because they won the World Cup once because they had home advantage doesn’t mean they have a right to anything. It’s like expecting a 16-year-old junior runner to win the Olympic 1500m gold medal and when he inevitably doesn’t, getting angry and then throwing things at him - rather juvenile. It would be better if the fans just treated it as a holiday and enjoyed the beer.

Part of the problem is coaching. Name one English coach managing a top club in Europe (when I say top clubs I mean the giants) I'll wait. Let me help you, there's none! For many years now they've not had exceptional managers in Paisley's ilk. I think that part says a lot about their tactical knowledge. I am still pretty new to Football, but I am learning. I have fallen in live with the game, and I try to watch as much as I can. Also, I am trying to learn and understand different tactics, ways to play, etc. I don't understand why England's Manager is using this strategy, this system? It seems to be... boring. Uninspired.
