Personally what I got from the movie is that Manny is Hanks male part of his conscience while Hank identifies more as female. And Manny being dead is a reference to that part of Hanks life being over. Meaning Hank after the movie would be transgender after making his peace with how he used to act as a man.

What a fucking montage. Beautiful, accompanied by such beautiful songs from this utterly amazing movie. I'm not sure how, or why.. this movie hit me, and apparently many others, in such a deep and profound way. Never find another movie like it, that's for sure!
