A player that would do that is probably an Andoni Goikoetxea or Sergio Ramos type who wouldn't be beyond a dirty tackle to players who have done nothing wrong except being in the wrong place at the wrong time or denying a goal opportunity by a violent shove into the ground. Unfortunately for us, these guys are mostly in lower leagues of England, or in the top flights of Spain, Italy, Portugal, and South America where either the level of pace isn't quite as high or the tolerance of paying a hot-headed player because he's paid drastically less than the Premier League is much higher. You do have to remember that ten Hag has allowed Quincy Promes, the drug dealing convicted stabber to play for Ajax. Although this was in between the official conviction in absentia as Promes was in Russia and the drug dealing and tax evasion stuff while the stabbing charges hung over Promes' head. Edit: Promes was sold rather quickly by the team by the player's request to a Russian team for suspiciously low prices as to avoid extradition despite much higher offers from La Liga sides. Hi, I totally agree with your sentiments of how terribly Manchester United has dealt with the situation, and appreciate how you've highlighted the intricacies of an abusive relationship that goes far beyond mere legalities. But beyond just addressing Greenwood's horrific actions and Manchester United's shambolic response as many on social media have raised, I thought you could have done more to positively contribute to the situation. It's pretty easy to comment on the current situation, but how would you have dealt with the situation if you were in the position to do so? As a club - I think returning now should not be on the cards, but should they cut all contractual obligations and leave him to rehabilitate himself? I think a second chance does not necessarily mean immediate reintegration into the first team, but I do still think he ultimately deserves another opportunity (albeit after significant work to ensure he has paid his dues) to pursue football. I guess the better question should be for clubs (and other orgs) to ascertain how they should best support one's rehabilitation if the club/org such as Manchester United represents the community and its people. The easy answer would be to just terminate his/her contract and be done with the perpetrator, but I think such actions are also reflective of how the club treats/views players - as mere commodities that should be discarded if they yield negative returns, and I don't think that's the right way going forward. I think this situation is also further complicated by the relationship Mason Greenwood and his alleged victim share, along with their newborn child. You mentioned that he should be incarcerated for years and that he should attend abuser counseling, but should that still be imposed regardless of the views of the alleged victim? It's quite a tricky position to deal with, I don't have the answers in this regard yet but I think your view of how Mason Greenwood should be dealt with lacked the nuance it required. It's almost a "he's the aggressor in the abusive relationship, we must punish him" and end of story, without dealing with the intricacies of the situation. Once again, I'm not saying he's innocent, neither should he be playing for Manchester United now - but I guess rather than pointing fingers and knowing where to best lay the blame, I wished there was a better discussion on how football can deal with such a situation in a manner that 1) respects the victim and 2) rehabilitates the aggressor.

So this video you're making is then based off of purely speculative information??...i do not doubt mason isn't necessarily a good person because the evidence is pretty bulletproof that at the very least he harasses women sexually and in the worst scenarios he rapes them but to act so fueled by emotions that you withdraw support from anyone who is even accused (wrongfully or not) is quite bizarre i remember a video where you chose not to acknowledge the existence of one of the key parts of your title push just because he was accused, im not saying you should forgive him but then at the same time don't condemn him when he hasn't even being proven to be guilty of the crime this is the third time you're taking such a staunch stance on the matter like FNG we care about your value to us entertainment wise not for your political or legal takes..... the most important thing is that the person involved in this forgave him no matter how bad that choice is its still her choice to forgive him or you want to arrest him for a crime he didn't commit to you??...i do not agree with the fans supporting him outright but until more details come out this behavior of yours is really unappreciated and intolerant despite the tolerance you preach even so far to say "f ten hag" just because he is open to hearing out the details and as for Manchester united its literally their investment and millions of dollars involved its not your money you don't pay him no matter how much you don't like him he has no obligation to you or the general public if they take him back there is really nothing you or i can do about it because he is legally innocent same with ben mendy and he hasn't broken any clause in his contract so they must legally honor it. for those who are as logically inept as maqwell this is the scenario...Party A offends Party B...Party B takes Party A to court but they reconcile and Party B withdraws the legal claim and is happy with the current situation between party A and themselves and some internet youtuber from Vietnam is offended on the behalf of Party B despite having little to no connection with Party B there is high possibility this youtuber didn't even know Party B existed till she came out publicly abut the issue....so you're offended about someone which in all honesty you don't care about and the only reason you're talking about her is her situation fits whatever narrative you want to push(and those who try to lie that they care, prior to the leak when was the last time you thought about the victim and her case, for most white knights its never so stop this false virtue signaling) I've been a subscriber for a few years and i always noticed the tendencies of Maqwell and FNG to be an emotional crusader of causes he barely or willingly chooses to not understand but i let it go till now....its getting much i watch you for your fun football takes not politics

Ty so much for making this video! Your explanation is spot on about sexual violence victims repeatedly making choices that would deemed as questionable with their abuser as well as men in the future because they are so scarred by this experience. Unfortunately law enforcement, and laws are simply ill equipped to deal with sexual assault unless there is overwhelming evidence that rarely is possible. This then of course multiplies when the assaulter is rich/powerful/famous/etc. The least we can do as a society is to take a zero tolerance policy in terms of support/employment/status. As a season ticket holder of the Baltimore Ravens we faced a public assault by Ray Rice towards his then fiance now wife that was caught on video tape. The attack was filmed in a casino elevator, and even with that it took over a year to finally not allow him to play. Part of the problem with Ray Rice was everything else we knew about him, one of the most charitable players in Ravens history, everyone liked him personally, hard worker and good football player. While the Ravens handled the situation very poorly at first, I also am proud to say that there were lessons learned. Every year there are a handful of questionable players that are simply not allowed to be drafted under any circumstance because of their history. Inevitably some team will extract value in their on the field performance because other teams are unwilling to risk their reputation, but I am comfortable knowing that my head coach and my owner stand for a certain expectation of. Ravens player off the field. Man United not willing to sacrifice value in order to maintain the dignity of the club, the jersey, and the history is abominable and I would now hope the fans, previous players, the coach, or the locker room stand up against this.

This whole situation is so messed up. The fact that he was exonerated in court means nothing since we have literal photographic and audio evidence of what he was doing to his girlfriend. He only gets this special treatment because he has money, stature and a whole horde of lawyers. Its so sickening that there's so many people out there that are trying to defend him. If he was a random squad player, he would've been cut 18 months ago... P.S.: not on topic really, but nice Alex Bowman shirt

I do believe in second chances, but second chances are built up to with reparations and complete acceptance of failure. A murderer, a pedo, a rapist, etc. deserve second chances only if they can accept their failings as a human and repair the damages caused by themselves (plus go further beyond that). Mason does none of that. The fact that he's given a "second chance" by people when he hasn't publicly said anything about it is just disgusting. People genuinely have to work 20-30 years just to be accepted back into society with the best of intentions but this man gets that acceptance as soon as the "crime" is done.

I’m a United fan and the discourse online is oddly divided. Twitter or X or whatever seems to want him back while most United subreddits hate Greenwood and want him to stay away. Personally, I want him gone. I didn’t really like Ronaldo at United for the same reason and I don’t want Greenwood here.
@mikeoxlong442 Жыл бұрын
My United supporting friend genuinely said TWICE Greenwood is innocent and as an Arsenal fan he brought up Partey One Problem-One went to trial with voice message and photo evidence while the other never even went to trial(I think) Colin Kaepernick was blackballed for taking the knee-THIS IS WAAAAY WORSE Love the vids both serious and funny keep it up Maxwell Edit-Partey was accused by 3 women and was arrested but never went to trial so my point still stands
@kriosatimoss6562 Жыл бұрын
The funniest thing about stuff like this is that stupid second chance argument. Greenwood's second chance is him not becoming the new girlfriend of half of the cell block, not the chance to make millions playing a child's game after assaulting a woman. He should feel lucky just to keep breathing air as a free man.
@nealfirstofhisname Жыл бұрын
I generally respond with innocent until proven guilty as the trend towards guilty because accused is dangerous. That being said, to me the evidence points to him being guilty.

At this point, I'm questioning why am I a united fan anymore. Probably because rashford is the one good thing about that club. Every year is a new year of disappointment. Now this. I don't support the actions or the executives or owners , just the team (apart from Mason ofcourse)

“Manchester United” doesn’t exist anymore. Gone are the days of Fergie, Rooney, Ronaldo, Tevez and trebles. What we have now is Seven Hag’s Mid United, the smallest and most awful club in the PL. If Greenwood deserves a second chance it is not as a professional athlete in a major sports league.
@MrAzri95 Жыл бұрын
As a United fan, thanks for telling this like it is. Evidence is all there is to see/read/hear. If the charges had not been dropped, I wouldn't be surprised if Greenwood had been found guilty. But just because the charges were dropped doesn't mean he's innocent. Look at the situation now. Just Greenwood's presence around the club has fractured the fanbase and caused discord. All the more reason he has to go, believer of 2nd chance or not. He may have the talent, but what's the point of it if you commit horrible actions? The way I see it, I think certain fans want him back is just sheer desperation that we don't have depth in CF. No excuse for defending him for his actions also. Can't blame you Maqwell for calling the club spineless. EDIT 1: About Harriet and their baby, I also can't help but worry about their well-being...

I have not followed the case closely but I have questions. 1) why has the case been dismissed? 2) why can’t the public see the official evidence ?

Such cases unfortunately are extremely difficult to unravel and take apart not only due to the complicated nature of the case. Not only is evidence is hard to gather to make such cases stand in court if it really happened (her recording and live feed of her alleged injury doesn’t help matters at all as I believe that the 2 being public disqualifies it from being evidence in court), the psychological toll it imposed on both parties due to the usual length of such court procedures is immense, and either side might just cave in just to “end the suffering”, as what Maxwells said. The other factor of such cases is the competency of the police and the judicial system, which the last time I checked, it is grossly far from par in the UK. I have noticed that UK people online (or as they claimed) generally do not trust the system at all. Perceptions about sexual assault in media also have made it rather difficult for both parties. Giving their own conclusions from past precedents of guilty charges, false charges etc is not a bad thing in of itself, after all we have to review such cases to improve upon how we handle such complicated cases, but it might create unnecessary pressure for the parties involved with such a media storm. Only Mason Greenwood and Harriet Robson truly knows what really happened. And whatever really happens, Karma finds a way.

Great insight into abusive relationships and why things are going down the way they are. As a lifelong United fan it’s heartbreaking to think I’ll have to stop supporting if they go through with this decision. One thing I will say though is that victims of domestic abuse have a right to lifelong anonymity. I know that most people are already aware of those involved, but still would be best to try and preserve her reputation whenever possible.

The thing that pisses me off is that I know for a fact that if he was just some random player. Not a single person would be defending him. People are neglecting their morality and claiming his innocence on the basis of his football talent. And let's be crystal clear, if he flops. Suddenly everyone is gonna be calling him a monster.

I’m not a Man Utd fan (but that doesn’t matter), either way this whole situation really sickens me and even though I hope I never see the day he plays a single minute for Man Utd (or any other epl club for that matter), I think it is up to us fans to get the whiteboards out and come up with some real uncomfortable chants as he fully deserves them (until my mind is changed (which I kind of doubt it will be)).
