Last time I rode that trail , there were around 12 of us . By the time we finished the second shuttle only 2 bikes were still working. Saw multiple cantilever brakes burn the side wall off the rim, releasing the tire completely. Good times

Had more of a pucker factor watching that than I did riding it. We always parked at the damn (Briery Branch?) and road the hard surface to the top of reddish knob and then bombed to the valley

Good save at 9:36 that rock really kicked the bike to the left.

Ya loved every trail we did down there!

Yo, that's the best I've seen anyone clear that early garden. Let's go

Haha thanks! I have seen a pic of someone jumping in... but I didn't feel like breaking a rim in the 1st 10' of the ride 😅

Glad you went to Virginia. You need to check out the Richmond/Chesterfield area not as long decent but an awesome system of trails in that area
@Projectnortheast3 жыл бұрын
Ya glad we went as well... wanted to get down to Roanoke or some other areas but ran out of time. So many trails so little time! 😉
@Projectnortheast3 жыл бұрын
@Angelo Said are you talking north mountain In Roanoke or around this area? I didn't make it to Roanoke. We are doing a return trip this fall but prolly will explore more in the reddish knob area

PNE, Mtn biking has been a thing down in that area since the late 80's early 90's. Places like Canaan VA and Slatyfork WVA were popular races back when the industry was in it's infancy. MTB was more for racers than it was for MTB tourism. With a hugh population in the DC Metro area there is and always have been a vibrant MTB community. We used the Knob as climbing training. People who raced did so on full ridged bikes as suspension had not yet been invented.

Ya that Shenandoah 100 race looks pretty legit too... just judging by the work on the bottom of wolf ridge you can tell there is a legit bike community. Can't wait to check more out down there

We were riding that trail 16-17 years ago. Is this still the Super Bowl ride trail?
@Projectnortheast Жыл бұрын
It's even better especially the bottom that got all reworked

Definitely worth a revisit then. Thanks for the video.

Where would you say has the best descending in Vermont? Great video
@Projectnortheast3 жыл бұрын
That's a tough one but all depends on what your looking for... my personal favorite that has the best of everything in one run is probably Burke Mtn
@bikingwithryan59683 жыл бұрын
@@Projectnortheast ohh didn’t expect that but I like that answer. I am fairly close to there.

I really want to work up to doing a ride like this! How long did the descent take you and did you take any breaks?
@Projectnortheast3 жыл бұрын
Ya we took a few breaks... didn't take too long to get down prolly around 90 min with filming and stops

Not meaning to ignite any controversy, but what's the self-shuttle potential of this run (and the runs near it) with an E-bike?
@Projectnortheast3 жыл бұрын
I dont know if there are any rules on ebikes in the area but honestly I think you'd be fine... just make sure your battery lasts! Haha
@davidmain86962 жыл бұрын
I don't think you can use an ebike there. Definitely check on it if you are concerned. You can ride the road up from the bottom trail head (Wolfe Ridge parking) and I highly doubt anyone will give you a second look for riding an e bike...and likely you won;'t see anyone at all on that trail except at or near the trail heads. That self shuttle is about 20+ miles for the loop. I really liked it.
@Chuckolicious2 жыл бұрын
@@davidmain8696 Nice, did you recently do it? Also, did you do it on a regular bike, or am I misreading? I'll do some digging on legality, I just assume not be an E-D*ck if I can at all avoid it. 😎

I see this requires a great deal of skill. For me personally, that would be all stress and no fun.

Only the first 1/4 mile is technical and easily walked. The rest of the ride was alot more mellow and super fast and smooth for the most part...

We rode it on a weekday and still saw 15 or so people! But the other trails in the area we didn't see a soul

🤔 idk a long descent is always a blast but for me but this one looks a little bland to me. Needs some more character. Too straight, no boulders slabs or drops and not steep enough!
@Projectnortheast2 жыл бұрын
This trail is a friggen blast... yeah it's not all super gnar but if you wanna go really friggen fast and feel the flow this trail is pretty sick. Not alot of jumps or drops on trails in this area... but there's a few remote drops that will make you think twice...
