This is the second video on this Manco Dingo 285 Go Kart. A subscriber offered to give me this Dingo Go Kart after fixing his generator. It was in really rough shape and had not been in working condition for some time. By the end of the first video, the go kart was running and driving. But there is a lot more to do. The frame has severe rust and pitting, the driven pulley is not working, the seat is rotted out and the tires are leaking.

James, wanted to thank you. I was able to fix my father-in-law’s. generator with a hurricane bearing down because of your vids. I started watching your vids, not because I fix anything, but because I found them very relaxing. Apparently, after watching like fifty vids, it is equivalent to taking a small engine repair class. 😂Anyway, cleaned a plugged carb (jets and needle), fixed a plugged shutoff valve, cleaned out the dirty tank, and adjusted from no load 54Hz to 61Hz. Father-in-law was missed, fortunately. Thanks!!

10.1.22 Great video James. When my brother and I were younger we made 2 carts out of whatever we could fine. Square tube, round tube, conduit. Went to the cart shop and got axels, disc brakes and sprockets. Went to the motorcycle junk place and picked up 2 honda 125 4 stroke motors. Hookup up a twist throttle on the steering wheel. Clutch and brake foot pedals. Gas tank out of plastic quart or so stuff that we found. Tires and rims of different sizes. Battery and rectifier and on off switch. Made it all work and was so much fun driving them around on gravel roads even in the winter.

Another tip for you! Try using Rust Reformer/Converter,it’s a liquid you apply to rusted metal after wire brushing to remove any scale.The Reformer then converts any left rust to a paintable rust free surface! It works great on frames & basically any rusted surface without the need for sandblasting. Your kids will benifit immensely from the knowledge gained from you! Great job.

@artpatronforever
@artpatronforever Жыл бұрын
Popping one bead of the tire first and putting the tube inside and then putting the tire bead back on the rim again is the way to make that much easier. Talcum powder is used as a lubricant on the rubber just like powder on rubber gloves. Same thing is done on bicycle and motorcycle tires and other tubed tires.

I am only at the halfway point but had an idea about the stuck rear wheels. Losen each axle nut a 1/2 turn soak it down with PB Blaster and let the kids use it. Nice job welding, you did prep work, which so many "online experts" skip. That may not have been a high-end welder, but neither was the Italian made machine I got from Eastwood Co. some 30 years ago. The welder and I handled an entire Mustang unibody without any real issues, although I did start with parts that no one would really see!
