I didn’t realize how sloppy the show was. I was too distracted by the pretty visuals to notice some of the dumb choices and lack of consistent characters
@SaintWombo8 ай бұрын
The visuals and music really carry it imo. But that can only work for so long, I think so many people lost interest in Season 3 because it became really obvious at that point that the writers had no clue what they were doing.
@Guy_Incognito1184 ай бұрын
Your preamble does an excellent job of laying out the difference between objective and subjective, as well as explaining why internal consistency matters so much.

My understanding of the carbonite scene in episode 5 is that how they were going to do it was dangerous, jerry rigging an industrial machine as part of a trap to freeze an unwilling, resisting subject was going to be risky.

I think the carbonitemethode is actually somewhat common place. They use it in several star wars mediums that take place before empire, and in empire lando, vader and boba are mainly concerned about the quality of the machine, not the quality of the methode.
@howdypotowty9 ай бұрын
Yeah, I got the impression it was a machine for industrial use for handling materials. I think the place was some kind of gas mine, so maybe something to do with that.
@SaintWombo9 ай бұрын
I meant specifically for transporting people. Idk about extended lore so i can only speak to the film/tv continuity. As far as i know Vader was the first to try it and tested it on Han because he wanted to make sure a human could survive it. I think the explanation we get is that carbonite is typically used to freeze gas into a solid form.

I feel like so much of the choices they made in this season were “fan service” in lieu of cogent storytelling. The carbon freeze pulls in the OG Gen X fans, Moff takes an obvious bit from Breaking Bad and then Baby Yoda kind of bridges the gap between old fans and new. Disney wants to have their cake and eat it too in terms of having wide appeal and it causes them to stretch the narrative and universe too thin. Very solid write up young sir. Looking forward to seeing what else you’ve got in store :) Also… 20:30. Language! 😂

Thank you for explaining the difference between "good" and "i like" or "enjoyable". I LOVE schlocky 80s B-grade monster movies but i cannot in good conscience call any of them "good" because they just arent. Theyre dumb fun. Mandalorian id argue is at least decent objectively in season 1 before falling off a cliff in later seasons, and Episode 3 is a good film fight me, but overall i definitely agree that its not nearly as good on a second watchthrough

It's a bit nit-picking, this. I do appreciate the UP when he does attempt to say, "But I could be wrong, because maybe X or Y." Largely because a reasonable person might assume X or Y. More of that, please. Tell you what, though: "A good story rewards your questions, a bad story punishes them." Oh, now that's wisdom, right there.

great video, but i think pedro doesnt want to trade with the jawas because theyre known to rip people off or some kind of prejudice like that
@SaintWombo9 ай бұрын
That does sound more likely, but the dialogue in that scene makes it sound like he’s very unfamiliar with them. Like when he calls the sand crawler “the crawling fortress” and how Queill has to inform that “Jawas steal, they don’t destroy”

That’s not prejudice. It’s pattern recognition. A very useful, very purposefully demonized ability that got us very far as a species.

Finally someone said it. Get back to asoiaf videos. Just hearing about Star Wars at this point requires antidepressants. Nothing Disney produced since 2019 has made any sense or been worth watching. And Disney hasn’t produced any Star Wars worth watching but you guys keep giving the empire your money so nothing changes. I’m gonna get back to mainlining Zoloft and ambien and hope I go in to a coma and wake up when the rest of all y’all do and we can get back to being normal. Fair points but the mcguffin of the force in new hope with absolute no training is bad when you compare it to modern day world building. It is a rushed mess that was limited due to low budget that has n9w a cult following who sees no evil. Telling someone to look at new hope with critical eyes is a 50/50 bag. Either they claim it as perfect or bash you for bringing blasphemous remarks. Don't get me wrong, this video was great. But I view all star wars as flawed and inconsistent toy magazines. Return of the jedi was the biggest example of merchandise sales because ewok. But yeah, just because they are flawed doesn't mean we can't enjoy them. Good video man.

Oh, one other thing: why are we assuming all the bad decision are Favreau's and not Filoni's? Should I expect a future vid entitled, "Why Ahsoka is the best Star Wars Ever (And You Didn't Even Realise It)"?
@SaintWombo8 ай бұрын
Favrue is an exec producer and is credited for "creating" the show , so I'd consider this "his baby". Plus Favrue wrote 6 of the first 8 episodes himself while Filoni only directed 1. I'd consider Ahsoka to be Filoni's baby for the same reasons. Direction is important but i don't think season 1 really suffers from bad direction, just bad writing.
@ARandomInternetUser089 ай бұрын
I just don't think it's that bad. I still think season 2 is better though.
