What kind of guys do young Chinese girls really like? The buff, western dude types or the more frail, thin, androgynous, almost feminine looking guys?
Their preference might surprise you!
In this podcast, Eileen and Xiao Feng discuss the phenomenon of China's Little Fresh Meats and their effect on society.
This is a great listening practice audio / video podcast for Chinese intermediates. The clear smartphone friendly subtitles also makes it easier for elementary Chinese students to follow this intermediate, non-scripted conversation.

Yes, it talks about different topic (I am interested in) and also has pinyin and characters. I learned mandarin as a kid in chinese school but I stopped after 6 years and it’s still needs great vocabulary improvement if I want to live in China. I know English people can lie there too but I really want to speak fluent Chinese if I am going to study there

*TOO FAST?* Control the video's playback speed *by speeding up or slowing down the video 5% at a time* on *desktop computers and laptops* OR *25%* at a time on *smartphone.* Access the playback speed controls as follows: Desktop Computers and Laptops: open the video, then go to the lower right of the video's screen and click on the settings icon (it looks like a GEAR). On the upper right of the options window that comes up, you will see the link "custom". Click on the "custom" link to control the video's playback speed by speeding up or slowing down the video 5% at a time. Smartphones: open the video and go to the upper right of the video's screen. You will see 3 dots. Click on them and you will see the link to open the "playback speed" controls. Click on this link and you will be able to control the video's playback speed by speeding up or slowing down the video 25% at a time. Note that viewing the video on desktop computer/laptops gives you greater control over the playback speed (5% vs 25% on smartphones).

I like the look of those type of feminine men. Everyone can look how they want. Feminine men and Masculine men can both be attractive. Everyone can have their own preference but i dont like if people make fun of the feminine men. Everyone has a different idea of beauty and not everyone has to conform to your personal preference of beauty. Good intersting video.

@Mark Carson That’s why we need to change this. I don’t think it’s human nature to be hateful and judgmental. All of these were taught to us ‘cause when I was little, I had never judged anyone. Due to the environment I was in and the ppl I was around, I became very judgmental as I grew older.

What a coincidence! I was searching for Chinese TV shows to improve my listening skills. But I was not able to find a TV show that reflects a normal life of a Chinese person. China seems to have 2 genres. 1 is about ancient China and its dynasties. And the other one an exaggeration of life. 'Perfect' looking men who are either the best student in the whole school, a doctor or the boss of a billion dollar company. But that is not what I am looking for. I want to know more about modern China. How people behave. Their norms and opinions. The culture. What they are proud of etc. If you have 1 or more suggestions. Please help me out :)

there are so many good realistic tv shows lol😂like 三十而已(nothing but thirty,2020),都挺好(all is well,2019),隐秘的角落(the bad kids, 2020, strongly recommend !!!!!!),some of my favorite 90s~00s shows:炊事班的故事(2002~2007),杨光的快乐生活(2004,a show written by chinese traditional stand up comedians, definitely a classic),编辑部的故事(stories from the editorial board,1992,a fantastic political satire),北京人在纽约(a native beijing in new york,1994)(all of them you can find on youtube),some of the shows here require a deeper understanding of the chinese society and maybe you wont like them that much at first, but for SURE china has more than just 2 genres of tv shows, like?? aint nobody cares about those pretty boy /ceo escapism fantasy drama except for some teenage girls😂😂😂😂😂 i love good historical drama shows and i get that most foreigners might find that boring or confusing, but thats not all we got, explore more if u wanna learn more, 加油!

Actually cross dressing is very old and always part of culture. Specially male performers dressing up as females. Some are just performers others may be bisexual or homosexual. About the second type I believe it's just normal that everyone is getting more pressure to feel prettier and also woman really enjoy seeing beautiful males. This is a whole new "buyer's" to beauty industry so I dont see it stopping.... beauty pattern are always changing together with society, with traditional resistance or not, nowadays males don't work the farm and things like that, and in the other side beauty and appearance are considered a product and when you take care of yourself you have a good and clean image that is more attractive than a "brute" or rude appearance. I also believe there's a resistance with people from different beauty, a man that looks rude and alpha will reject a soft looking man, and business should be business dont act on your personal values but what sells more. People like men with good skin? Using lotions, taking care of appearance?? Then give it to them.

Funny to see Luhan used as an example of 小鲜肉 because, in his latest drama "Crossfire", his appearance is completely opposite of that. I think he's probably trying to distance himself from that earlier image now that he's 30 and be taken as a serious actor; He actually did a good job in that drama.

Like what actors and public celebs do in order to be taken more seriously. Once the trend ends, what's next?

Damn, this was a really interesting conversation. And besides I became surprised how I already learned some chinese words that I¨ve picked up from before. It's actually not as difficult of a language as I imagined.
